Introduction
The HomeLink Wireless Control System offers a convenient way to replace multiple handheld radio-frequency (RF) transmitters. It allows users to activate devices such as gate operators, garage door openers, entry door locks, security systems, and home lighting directly from their vehicle.

Important Precautions
- Ensure people and objects are clear of the device before programming to prevent harm or damage.
- When programming garage door openers, it is advised to park outside the garage.
- Do not use HomeLink with garage door openers manufactured before April 1, 1982, or those lacking safety stop and reverse features, as they may not meet current U.S. federal safety standards.
- Retain original transmitters for future use and consider erasing programmed buttons upon vehicle sale for security.
Programming HomeLink
Follow these steps to program your HomeLink system:
- Position your handheld transmitter 1-3 inches from the desired HomeLink button.
- Press and hold both the HomeLink button and the handheld transmitter button simultaneously. The HomeLink indicator light will change to indicate programming mode (slow blink for rolling code, solid ON for fixed code). Release both buttons when the light changes.
- For door activation, press and hold the programmed HomeLink button up to two times. Observe the indicator light for confirmation of successful programming.
- For rolling code devices (like most garage door openers), additional steps involving the opener's "Learn" or "Smart" button may be required. Refer to the specific garage door opener manual.
Special procedures for Gate Operators and Canadian devices are also outlined for signals that "time-out" quickly.
Erasing and Reprogramming
To erase all programmed buttons, press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons for at least 10 seconds until the indicator light flashes green. To reprogram a single button, press and hold the desired HomeLink button until the indicator light flashes, then proceed with the standard programming steps.
