Installation Steps
The following steps detail the installation process. Ensure all parts are accounted for and tools are readily available.
Step 1: Preparation and Access
Diagram Description (Page 6): Visuals show the rear section of the Renault Scenic 3 Long. Arrows indicate specific points on the left and right rear quarter panels (labeled 1, 2, 5, 6) and the underside of the rear bumper area (labeled 3, 4, 7, 8). These points represent access holes or areas where fasteners will be applied or panels removed.
Tools Required: Wrench set (7-10, 13-16-17), T30 Torx driver.
Step 2: Bumper Removal and Bracket Installation
Diagram Description (Page 7): The diagram illustrates the removal of the rear bumper cover. Arrows show how to detach the bumper, with labels "X 2" and "X 4" indicating the number of clips or fasteners to release. Following this, the diagram shows access to the vehicle's chassis mounting points. Brackets are shown being inserted into the chassis, with arrows indicating the correct orientation and insertion path.
Action: Carefully remove the rear bumper cover. Access the designated mounting points on the vehicle's chassis. Insert the main tow bar mounting brackets into these locations.
Step 3: Attaching the Main Tow Bar
Diagram Description (Page 8): This step shows the main tow bar assembly being positioned beneath the vehicle. Arrows guide the alignment of the tow bar's mounting points with the previously installed chassis brackets. Fasteners (bolts and nuts) are depicted being inserted to secure the tow bar to the brackets. Text "x3 9/11" suggests three fasteners per side are used for this connection.
Action: Align the main tow bar structure with the chassis brackets. Secure the tow bar using the specified bolts and nuts (typically three per side), ensuring they are tightened appropriately.
Step 4: Trim Modification
Diagram Description (Page 9): A diagram shows a plastic trim piece from the vehicle's rear bumper. Dimensions (83mm, 70mm, 30mm, 75mm) are provided for a specific cut. A pair of scissors icon indicates the cutting action. Subsequent diagrams show the modified trim piece being reinstalled. The label "x6" indicates six fasteners are used for this trim piece.
Action: Cut the plastic trim piece according to the dimensions shown in the diagram. Reinstall the modified trim piece into its original position using six fasteners.
Step 5: Attaching Side Brackets
Diagram Description (Page 10): Diagrams illustrate the attachment of side extension brackets or arms to the vehicle's chassis. Arrows point to the mounting locations and show the fasteners being inserted. The wrench set (16-17) is shown as the tool for this step.
Action: Attach the side mounting arms or extension brackets to the vehicle's chassis at the designated points. Secure them firmly with the provided hardware.
Step 6: Final Assembly and Tow Ball Attachment
Diagram Description (Page 11): This step shows the final assembly, including attaching the tow ball and its housing to the main tow bar structure. The diagrams also show the completed installation from the rear of the vehicle, with arrows indicating final checks. Tools shown are the T25/30 Torx driver and the 7-10 wrench.
Action: Mount the tow ball and its housing onto the tow bar assembly. Ensure all fasteners throughout the installation are tightened to the correct specifications. Verify the secure fit of all components.
