Product Overview
The DM-RMC-4KZ-SCALER-C is an advanced one-box interface solution for a single display device within a Crestron Digital Media system. It functions as a DM 8G+ receiver, 4K60 4:4:4 HDR video scaler, and control interface, offering DM 8G+ and HDMI inputs, an HDMI output, and an analog audio output. It also includes RS-232, IR, Ethernet, and relay control ports.
4K60 4:4:4 and HDR Support
Utilizing DM 4KZ technology with VESA Display Stream Compression (DSC), the device handles extreme bandwidth requirements for resolutions beyond 4K30 4:4:4 and 4K60 4:2:0. DSC provides visually lossless performance for 4K60 4:4:4 and HDR signals, applied only to these input signals. Other signals are transported uncompressed. This allows upgrading existing 4K Digital Media systems to support 4K60 4:4:4 and HDR without replacing wiring or switchers. The DM-RMC-4KZ-SCALER-C can replace previous models like the DM-RMC-4K-SCALER-C.
DM 8G+ Technology
Crestron DM 8G+ technology transports high-definition video, audio, power, Ethernet, and control signals over twisted pair copper wire. It supports uncompressed Full HD 1080p, WUXGA, and 2K signals up to 330 feet (100 m) using Crestron DM Ultra Cable, DM 8G Cable, or third-party CAT5e. Higher resolutions like UHD and 4K are supported up to 330 feet (100 m) with DM Ultra Cable, 230 feet (70 m) with DM 8G Cable, or 165 feet (50 m) with CAT5e.
HDBaseT Compatibility
Designed using HDBaseT Alliance specifications, DM 8G+ technology ensures interoperability with other HDBaseT certified products. The DM 8G+ input allows direct connection to an HDBaseT compliant source without a DM transmitter.
Multimedia Display Interface
The device offers simple switching between a DM input and an HDMI input, selectable manually, via a control system, or automatically upon source connection. A single HDMI output port connects to a display device and can also handle DVI signals with an adapter. A single CAT5e cable connects the device to a DM switcher/transmitter or HDBaseT source, carrying video, audio, control, networking, and power. Multiple units can be used for multi-display systems, or a single unit can be fed directly from a DM 8G+ or HDBaseT transmitter.
4K60 4:4:4 Scaler
The HDMI output feeds the decoded signal to the local display, with a built-in scaler ensuring optimal image quality by matching the source resolution to the display's native resolution. It converts interlaced sources to progressive scan using motion-adaptive deinterlacing and supports 24p and PAL formats with intelligent frame rate conversion. EDID data from the display automatically configures the scaler.
Video Wall Processing
The DM-RMC-4KZ-SCALER-C supports zoom and bezel compensation on the HDMI output for displaying portions of an image. It can be combined with other units to create video walls up to 8x8 displays, with each display requiring a separate DM-RMC-4KZ-SCALER-C.
Audio De-embedding
A balanced/unbalanced analog audio output allows stereo audio signals to be extracted from the digital stream for connection to local amplifiers or speakers. Output volume is adjustable via a control system.
LAN Connectivity
A 100 Mbps Ethernet port provides a convenient LAN connection for a local network device, integrating high-speed Ethernet networking into the DigitalMedia system.
Embedded Device Control
Built-in RS-232, IR, and Ethernet ports enable programmable control of connected display devices. The device also acts as a gateway for CEC control over HDMI and HDBaseT, potentially reducing the need for separate control wiring. Two low-voltage relay ports are included for controlling devices like projection screens or lifts.
USB Signal Extension (Optional)
USB signal routing is supported by adding a USB-EXT-DM USB over Ethernet Extender Module.
Low-Profile Installation
The device mounts conveniently to walls, ceilings, or flat surfaces, fitting behind displays or above projectors. It can be powered by PoDM+, HDBaseT PoE+, or an optional power pack. Connectors and indicators are positioned on the sides for easy access and visibility.

Notes
1. HDMI input accommodates DVI or Dual-Mode DisplayPort with appropriate adapter/cable.
2. HDMI output accommodates DVI with appropriate adapter/cable.
3. Analog stereo audio output is active for 2-channel stereo signals. For multichannel sources, use DM-RMC-4K-SCALER-C-DSP for stereo downmix.
4. 4K60 4:4:4 and HDR support require HDMI cables/couplers with minimum 18 Gbps TMDS bandwidth. Lower bandwidth cables (10.2 Gbps) may support 4K60 4:2:0 or 4K30 4:4:4. Bandwidth loss is cumulative.
5. Maximum cable lengths for DM 8G+ or HDBaseT depend on cable type and resolution. Crestron legacy DM-CBL and DM-CBL-D support similar lengths as CAT5e. Shielded cable and connectors are recommended for resolutions above 1080p. DM 8G+ is compatible with HDBaseT Alliance specifications.
6. USB-EXT-DM modules sold separately.
7. PoDM+ power requires connection to a PoDM+ PSE port.
8. HDBaseT PoE+ power requires connection to an HDBaseT PoE+ PSE port.
9. Video wall processing requires a separate DM-RMC-4KZ-SCALER-C for each display.
