Note: Evaporative capacities assume blower is active 100% of the time, plenum temperature is at 120°F, and water is cold. Model 400 performance may be reduced with heat pumps due to lower air temperatures.

Regional Humidifier Applications

Aprilaire humidifiers can be installed on various HVAC systems. Selection depends on geography, heating equipment, plenum temperature, airflow, and run time. Automatic controls often include a blower activation relay. For manual controls, setting the thermostat fan to "ON" can increase capacity. Plumbing evaporative humidifiers to hot water is recommended.

Bypass models can be used if HVAC system pressure differential is at least 0.08 in. w.c. and air temperature, hot water, and continuous fan are at least 100°F.

Dehumidifiers

Aprilaire dehumidifiers are designed to control excess moisture in homes, preventing mold, mildew, and musty odors. They are available in various capacities to suit different home sizes and humidity levels.

Ventilation

Aprilaire ventilation systems manage indoor air quality by introducing fresh outdoor air while exhausting stale indoor air, helping to remove moisture, particulates, and contaminants. Systems include fresh air ventilators with dehumidification, fresh air ventilators, ventilation controllers, and fresh air exchangers (ERV).

Ventilation Climate Zones

The International Residential Code defines ventilation zones based on climate factors like temperature, precipitation, and wet bulb temperature. These zones influence the requirements for managing ventilated air to ensure a healthy indoor environment.

Climate Zone Map Description: The map divides regions into categories such as Hot & Moist, Hot & Dry, Warm & Moist, Warm & Dry, Mixed & Moist, Mixed & Dry, Cool & Moist, Cool & Dry, and Extreme Cold & Moist. Specific zones are indicated by numbers (1-7) and color-coded regions.
