This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the Baby Trend Sonar Switch Modular Travel System, including assembly, safety guidelines, and maintenance.
Product Overview
The Sonar Switch Modular Travel System includes a stroller and an EZ-Lift™ PLUS infant car seat.

Important Safety Warnings and Cautions
General Safety:
- Follow all instructions to ensure child safety. Keep instructions for future reference.
- Failure to follow instructions may result in serious injury or death.
- Always use the safety harness and ensure the child is properly positioned.
- This stroller is designed for one child only.
- Never leave a child unattended.
- Never use on stairways, escalators, or with skates/bicycles.
- Do not allow the stroller to be used as a toy.
Specific Warnings:
- WARNING: Wheel Detachment: Wheels can detach and cause tip-over. Pull on wheels to ensure they are securely attached.
- WARNING: Folding/Unfolding: Care must be taken to prevent finger entrapment. Keep children away during these operations.
- WARNING: Child Entrapment/Strangulation: Child may slip into leg openings. Never use in full recline unless the seat is fully reclined and footrest buckle is released. Never leave child in seat with loose or undone straps.
- Weight Limits:
- Storage Basket: 5 lbs (2.27 kg)
- Cup Holder: 1 lb (0.45 kg)
- Infant Car Seat: 30 lbs (13.6 kg)
- Stroller Combined (child, basket, cup holder): 50 lbs (22.67 kg)
- Accessories: Purses, shopping bags, etc., can affect stroller balance and stability. Only the included seat can be used on the frame.
- Bumper Bar: Not a carrying handle. Do not use to lift or carry the seat with a child inside. Not designed to support a car seat; may cause instability.
- Cup Holder: Do not place hot liquids. Do not place more than 1 lb (0.45 kg).
Assembly Instructions
Adult assembly is required. Keep children away during unpacking and assembly.
Before assembly and each use: Inspect for damaged hardware, loose joints, missing parts, or sharp edges. NEVER use if parts are missing or broken.
Step 1: Attach Front Wheels
- Unlock the fold latch and unfold the stroller frame by pulling upward on the handle until it locks. [Diagram shows unlocking latch and unfolding frame]
- Lean the stroller backward. Ensure front wheels face backward to align with the housing slot. [Diagram shows stroller tilted back, aligning wheel housing]
- Insert the front wheel into the hub until it clicks. Pull to confirm secure attachment. [Diagram shows inserting wheel into hub and a 'click' indicator]
Step 2: Attach Rear Wheels
- Attach rear wheels to the stroller frame until they click. Pull to confirm secure attachment. [Diagram shows attaching rear wheel to frame]
Step 3: Install Basket
- Pull the basket fabric under the bar.
- Insert the male ends of the rear basket frame into the female slots on the stroller frame until locked. [Diagram shows basket frame connecting to stroller slots]
- Secure the shorter straps with D-rings around the rear axle bar. Thread straps through D-ring openings to create loops. Ensure straps are secure. [Diagram shows basket straps with D-rings attached to rear axle]
- To detach the basket, press buttons on each side of the frame and pull the basket out. [Diagram shows pressing button to release basket]
Step 4: Attach Seat
- Unfold the toddler seat. [Diagram shows unfolded toddler seat]
- Insert the frame tabs into the seat fabric. [Diagram shows inserting tabs into fabric]
- Connect the lower tube into the inner slot of the seat frame until it clicks. Repeat for the other side. [Diagram shows connecting seat frame tube]
- Feed the strap through the tab to anchor the seat fabric. Ensure the seat is secured. Repeat for the other side. [Diagram shows feeding strap through tab]
- Align seat anchors with stroller frame anchors and push together until they click securely. The seat can face forward or backward. [Diagram shows seat attaching to stroller frame anchors]
- Carriage Mode: Ensure the buckle strap underneath is loose. Loosen the recline seat strap by squeezing the adjuster and pulling downwards. The carriage should be fully extended. The footrest area should be unbuckled. [Diagrams show loosening straps for carriage mode and unbuckled footrest]
Step 5: Attach Bumper Bar
- Align bumper bar anchors with seat slots and push until it locks. Ensure it is securely attached. [Diagram shows attaching bumper bar to seat]
- To detach, press the release button on the bottom of the bar on each side and pull the bar out. [Diagram shows detaching bumper bar]
Step 6: Adjust Seat (Toddler Seat Mode)
The seat can be adjusted to upright, reclined, or carriage positions. The upright position is for children 6 months and older.
- Push the center button on both sides of the stroller adaptor to rotate the seat. [Diagram shows rotating seat using center buttons]
- Rotate to the desired position until it clicks. The seat can face forward or backward. [Diagram shows seat in different positions]
- Buckle the strap located underneath the seat. Use the hook and loop method through the clip to tighten. [Diagram shows buckling and tightening under-seat strap]
- To adjust the recline seat strap, squeeze the adjuster while pulling downwards or upwards. [Diagram shows adjusting recline strap]
Step 7: Attach Parent Phone Holder
- Slide the clip on the phone tab on the stroller handle until secured. To release, pull upwards. [Diagram shows attaching phone holder to handle]
Step 8: Attach Cup Holder
- Slide the clip of the cup holder over the cup holder tab on the handlebar. Push until firmly in place. [Diagram shows attaching cup holder to handlebar]
Step 9: Attach Removable Canopy
- Slide canopy clips into the corresponding slots on the stroller frame. [Diagram shows attaching canopy clips]
- Pull the back of the canopy fabric to connect three attachments on the top of the seat frame. [Diagram shows connecting canopy fabric to seat frame]
- To open: Push forward on the front edge while holding the rear in place. [Diagram shows opening canopy]

- To remove: Press inward on both canopy tabs and slide the canopy up. [Diagram shows removing canopy]
Safety and Operation
Brakes:
- Always set brakes when the stroller is not being pushed to prevent rolling. NEVER leave stroller unattended on a hill or incline.
- To engage: Apply downward pressure to the rear of the brakes. Verify they are applied correctly. [Diagram shows brake engagement]
- To release: Apply downward pressure to the front of the brakes. [Diagram shows brake release]
Securing the Child (5-Point Harness):
- The shoulder straps have 3 attachment positions. Select a position level with or below the child's shoulder. [Diagram shows harness strap height adjustment]
- To adjust harness height: Unhook shoulder strap from crotch buckle, feed strap through harness spread slots (accessible from rear of seat), and reattach to crotch buckle.
- Place child in seat. Bring harness around waist and over shoulders. Place crotch strap between legs.
- Insert male ends of shoulder/waist belts into the crotch buckle. Tighten harness snugly around the child's waist and over shoulders. [Diagram shows child secured in harness]
Releasing the Child:
- Push the button on the center clasp; the two harness buckles will pop free. [Diagram shows center clasp release]

Folding the Stroller:
- Before folding, push lower buttons on each side of the seat to disengage from the frame. [Diagram shows disengaging seat from frame]
- Press the button on the left trigger while simultaneously pulling both release triggers, and push the stroller handle toward the floor. [Diagram shows folding mechanism]
- Ensure front wheels lie flat. Secure in folded position by locking the fold latch. [Diagram shows locking folded stroller]
Unfolding the Stroller:

Infant Car Seat
Attaching the Infant Car Seat:
- Models CS01 EZ-Lift, CS02 EZ-Lift PLUS, and CS03 EZ-Lift PRO attach to the stroller's front seat module. These require child tray and seat back adjustment to the most reclined position (refer to step 6d for adjustments).

- ALWAYS verify the car seat is properly connected and locked by lifting up on the car seat handle before each use.
Removing the Infant Car Seat:

Modes and Maintenance
Riding Positions (6 Modes):

Maintenance:
- Front Wheel Removal/Replacement: If necessary, press the release button on the rear of the wheel hub and pull the wheel assembly from the hub. [Diagram shows removing front wheel]
- Seat Pad Cleaning: Use mild household soap or detergent and warm water on a sponge or clean cloth.
- General Maintenance: Regularly check for loose screws, worn parts, torn material, or stitching. Replace or repair parts as needed.
- Cleaning Instructions: Use only mild household soap and warm water. DO NOT USE BLEACH.
