How the System Works

The video doorbell system consists of two main parts:

The video doorbell detects motion and allows you to answer visitors remotely. The Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime acts as an indoor digital chime and can store video clips on a microSD card (not included). When someone rings the doorbell, occupants inside the house are notified.

Diagram illustrates the system: A Video Doorbell is mounted outside a house, wirelessly connected to a Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime inside the house, which is plugged into a power source. A car is visible in the driveway.

Step 1: Powering on the Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime

Connect the HomeBase 2 to the Internet (Note: The document refers to HomeBase 2, but the product is Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime. Assuming this is a general instruction or a previous model reference).

  1. Fix the power connector to Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime:
    1. Place the power connector over the Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime, aligning with the indicated direction.
    2. Align the raised slots of the power connector with the notch on the base of the chime.
    3. Rotate clockwise to secure the power connector.
  2. Extend Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime's antennas: Two antennas are shown extending from the chime unit.
  3. Plug Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime into an AC power supply: Connect the chime to a wall outlet. The LED indicator will turn solid green when it is ready for setup.

Step 2: Setting up the System

Download the App and Set up the System

Download the eufy Security app from the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play (for Android devices).

Icons for "Download on the App Store" and "Get it on Google Play" are described.

Sign up for a eufy Security account and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. Tap 'Add Device' and add the following:

  1. Add the Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime.
  2. Add the doorbell.

Diagram shows a smartphone with the eufy Security app, indicating the process of adding devices.

Step 3: Charging Your Doorbell

The doorbell is shipped with an 80% battery charge for safe transportation. It is recommended to fully charge the doorbell before mounting it at your front door.

Diagram shows a USB charging cable connected to the doorbell.

Note: Battery life varies with usage. In typical scenarios with up to 15 events per day and 20-second recordings, the battery can last up to 4 months.

LED indication Status
Charging Solid orange
Fully charged Solid blue

Charging time: 6 hours from 0% to 100%.

Step 4: Finding a Mounting Spot

Find a Mounting Spot

Use the eufy Security app to view the live feed from the Video Doorbell at your front door. Choose a position that provides your desired field of view.

Consider the following factors:

  1. Check for existing holes and anchors on the wall or door frame that can be reused.
  2. If placing the doorbell near a side wall, ensure the wall is not visible in the frame to prevent IR light reflection, which can blur night vision.
  3. For first-time installations, the recommended mounting height is 48 inches (1.2m) from the ground.
  4. Use the 15° mounting wedge as a supplementary bracket if needed to adjust the viewing angle.

Diagrams illustrate recommended mounting heights and the effect of the 15° mounting wedge on the viewing angle. Another visual shows using the Screw Hole Positioning Card to mark wall positions.

Step 5: Mounting the Bracket

Mount the Doorbell on a Wooden Surface

If mounting on wood, pre-drilling pilot holes is not necessary. Use the provided screws to secure the Mounting Bracket. The Screw Hole Positioning Card indicates screw hole placement.

What is required: Power Drill, Mounting Bracket, 15° Mounting Wedge (Optional), Screw Packs.

Diagrams show the Mounting Bracket being attached to a wall, with and without the 15° Mounting Wedge. Required tools are listed: Phillips-Head Screwdriver (user-provided), Power Drill with 1/4" (6.35mm) Drill Bit (user-provided).

Mount the Video Doorbell on Surfaces Made Out of Hard Materials

  1. For hard surfaces like brick, concrete, or stucco, drill 2 holes using the Screw Hole Positioning Card and a 15/64" (6mm) drill bit.
  2. Insert the provided anchors, then use the longer screws to secure the Mounting Bracket.

What is required: Power Drill, 15/64" (6mm) Drill Bit, Mounting Bracket, 15° Mounting Wedge (Optional), Screw Packs.

Diagrams show the process for hard surfaces, including drilling, anchors, and screw attachment. Required tools are listed.

Step 6: Mounting the Doorbell

Mount the Doorbell

Align the top of the doorbell with the mount, then snap the bottom into place.

Diagram shows the doorbell being attached to the bracket by aligning the top and snapping the bottom.

You are all set! For instructions on detaching or recharging the doorbell, refer to the following sections.

Appendix 1: Detaching the Doorbell

Detach the Doorbell

Use the provided doorbell detaching pin to detach the doorbell from the Mounting Bracket.

  1. Insert and press the detaching pin into the hole at the bottom of the doorbell.
  2. Lift to detach the bottom of the doorbell.

What is required: Doorbell Detaching Pin.

Diagram illustrates the detaching pin being inserted into the bottom of the doorbell to release it.

Appendix 2: Recharging the Doorbell

Recharge the Doorbell

Charge the doorbell using universal USB chargers that provide a 5V 1A output.

Diagram shows a USB cable connecting to the doorbell's charging port.
