Welcome to the NIU KQi Air and KQi Air X electric scooter user manual. This guide provides comprehensive instructions for assembly, activation, safe riding, charging, and utilizing the NIU app features.

About the KQi Air Series

Thank you for choosing NIU electric Kick scooter. This scooter is an ultra-lightweight, high-quality, and stylish means of transportation. Multiple components are made of carbon fiber material, achieving a perfect balance between portability and performance.

Safety First

⚠️ Age Recommendation: 14-60 years old.

⚠️ Height Recommendation: 120-200 cm.

⚠️ Required Safety Gear: Helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads are required when riding.

⚠️ Passenger Limit: Only one person is allowed per scooter. Do not carry passengers, including children.

⚠️ Riding Environment: Follow local regulations. Do not ride on highways or sidewalks. Do not ride in water deeper than 2cm (1 inch). Please avoid riding in the rain, as braking distance will be extended in wet weather.

⚠️ Riding Practices: Do not accelerate downhill. Do not ride indoors. Avoid obstacles while riding. Turn on headlights when riding in the dark. Do not make large steering adjustments during high-speed riding. Do not hang heavy objects on the handlebar, as it will affect the scooter's stability. Do not twist the throttle while walking alongside the scooter. Do not touch the disc brake after riding.

Assembly

Step 01: Folding Mechanism

Securely fasten the folding mechanism. Take care to prevent wire pinching.

Step 02: Handlebar Installation

Insert the handlebar into the stem, making sure that the headlight is facing forward.

Step 03: Screw Installation

Install the six screws with the hexagon wrench.

Step 04: Battery Activation

Open the charging port cover, connect the scooter to a power outlet using the power supply (included), and activate the battery.

Activation

Initial State: The scooter is new and not activated. The speed is limited to 15 km/h (9.3 mph) by default, and gear shifting is not available.

Activation Methods:

Upon activation, the speed restriction will be lifted, and you can switch to S mode.

Powering On: Place the NFC card ? on the dashboard to power on the scooter.

Using the NIU App

Download and Setup: Scan the QR code to download the NIU app and register/log in.

Pairing: Use the NIU app to scan the pairing QR code in the Quick Start guide to pair the scooter. Follow the in-app instructions.

Activation via App: After watching or skipping the teaching guide in the app, the scooter will be activated.

Powering On/Off via App: When the scooter is connected to the app, use the app button ? to power on/off.

NIU Link Unlock: Enable the NIU Link unlock feature in the app. The scooter will automatically unlock when your phone is nearby and lock when it's away. After unlocking, press and hold the power button to turn the scooter on/off.

Riding Instructions

Before Riding: Check battery level ?, tire pressure, and ensure the folding mechanism is securely locked.

Starting to Ride: Place one foot on the deck and use the other foot to propel yourself forward.

Acceleration: Maintain a stable stance with both feet on the deck. Twist the throttle to accelerate. Note: The motor will only engage once the gliding speed reaches 4 km/h (2.5 mph).

Deceleration and Braking: Release the throttle to decelerate. Engage the brakes for stopping.

Turning: To turn, shift your body weight and gently steer the handlebars. Be mindful of road conditions and leave adequate space for turning.

Folding and Carrying

Unfolding: Push the rear buckle to unlock and unfold the stem. Close the folding lever.

Folding: Lift the safety latch and open the folding lever. Then, pull the stem to fold. Align the hook and the fender buckle, then push down to lock.

Carrying: After folding, hold the handlebar stem with one or both hands to carry.

⚠️ Risk of pinching during folding/unfolding.

Charging

Step 01: Open Port Cover

Open the charging port cover.

Step 02: Connect Charger

Insert the charging plug into the port.

Step 03: Charging Indicator

When the scooter is fully charged, the indicator on the charger will switch from red to green.

Step 04: Close Port Cover

Close the charging port cover once charging is complete.

Parking Instructions

After riding, unfold the kickstand to park the scooter. Before riding, fold the kickstand.
