1.1 Precautions for Use

- Please use only high-quality AA alkaline batteries. If a low battery warning appears, please replace all batteries immediately.
- If the lock is not used for a long time, please remove the batteries to maintain performance and extend battery life.

1.3 Additional Functions
Locking Modes
- Auto-lock Mode: The bolt locks automatically when the door is closed.
- Passage Mode (Always Unlocked): After activation, external parties can open the door at any time.
- Privacy Mode: When activated from inside the room, only the administrator (admin) and emergency key unlock can open the door from the outside.
- Handle Lift for Double Locking: Lifting the interior handle engages the deadbolt automatically to lock the door.
Security Features and Alerts
- Random Password: This system allows adding random numbers before or after the actual password to conceal it from others.
- One-Touch Unlock from Inside: The handle on the interior unit allows unlocking at any time.
- Anti-Burglar/Tamper Alert: If there are 6 consecutive failed unlock attempts, the system temporarily locks for 90 seconds with an audible alert.
- Door Pry Alert: If the door is opened with tools or pried open, the lock emits an audible alert for 120 seconds.
- Low Battery Alert: The lock alerts with a status light and audible warning when battery power is low.

2.1 Product Components

2.2 Installation Guide for ALPHA Lock Set
Refer to the table for screw types and dimensions based on door thickness:

2.3 Installation Steps
- Adjust Handle Direction: Adjust the direction of the handles on both the interior and exterior units. Secure them by tightening the M5x9 mm screws. Repeat for the exterior handle.
- Adjust Latch Direction: Slide the small lever upwards, push the latch into the door slot, and rotate it 180 degrees.
- Prepare Door: Determine the drilling distance according to the provided template. Ensure the height from the floor is 1-1.2 meters. Drill holes as specified.
- Install Cylinder: Insert the cylinder into the door and secure it tightly with two pointed screws (from the cylinder set).
- Attach Exterior Unit: Insert two studs into the exterior unit. Pass the wire through the top hole of the door. Insert the spindle into the exterior unit's spindle hole and then into the cylinder.
- Connect Wires and Attach Interior Unit: Connect the wire from the exterior unit to the interior unit. Align and attach the interior unit, then secure it with screws. Ensure the handles are properly installed. [warning] Ensure the larger side of the spring is fitted into the interior unit.
- Install Batteries: Install 4 AA alkaline batteries (all new, do not use rechargeable NiMH batteries due to lower voltage). Attach the battery cover using the magnetic mount. [warning] After installation and battery insertion, the lock system should initialize. You can then proceed to the next setup steps. [warning] The lock will be in Demo Mode upon startup, allowing any unregistered fingerprint, keycard, or password to unlock the door.
3. Setup
3.1 Demo Mode
Demo Mode (First Use / After Factory Reset):
- Touch the lock screen.
- Select an unlock method (unregistered password, fingerprint, or keycard).
[warning] The lock will provide an audible alert: "Unlocked. For security, please set up the administrator password as soon as possible!"
3.2 First-time Setup (Register Admin)
Registering Admin Password (Lock Owner):
- Touch the lock screen.
- Press [*] and then [#].
- Authenticate with the factory-set admin password [123456] and press [#].
- Enter the new admin password (6-8 digits) and press [#].
- Confirm the new admin password again and press [#].
The lock will show a red light followed by a green light with the alert: "Lock Open".
Recommendations:
- After connecting to the smartphone app, you can add, edit, or delete admins, unless only one admin remains.
- The lock supports up to 10 administrators, using memory slots 1-10. Only app users with admin privileges (e.g., homeowner) can add admins.
Precautions:
- Users must register admin information first before proceeding to other settings.
- The initial setup password is 123456.
- Password registration is incomplete if you hear "Operation failed". Please re-enter the password.
3.3 Adding General User Information
(Admin information must be registered first.)
Important: If the lock is not yet connected to the app via Bluetooth, users can only be added via the lock itself. Connecting to the Hafele Smart Living app is recommended for easier user management and full function setup.
Note: User information added via the lock will also appear in the smartphone app, but must be manually linked to the app user account.
- Touch the lock screen.
- Press [*] and [#].
- Authenticate with the registered admin password and press [#].
- An audible alert will sound: "Please input User".
- Add general user information (password, fingerprint, or keycard).
- Repeat until all users are added, then press [*] to exit the menu.
Precautions:
- General user information is only for unlocking the door and cannot be used to access settings menus.
- Ensure fingers are clean and dry before using the fingerprint sensor. Dirt, oil, and moisture can affect fingerprint recognition.
3.4 Network Setup (Pairing with Smartphone App)
Precautions: Users must register the admin password before connecting to the Hafele Smart Living app (see page 12 - 3.2).
A. Setting up the internal Bluetooth module / Pairing with Smartphone App
- Scan the QR code below to download the "Hafele Smart Living" app from the Apple Store or Google Play.
- Register a user account or log in with an existing account.
- Enable Bluetooth and ensure your smartphone is connected to the internet.
- Activate pairing mode on the lock device: Touch the lock screen, press [*], press [#], authenticate with the admin password, and press [#].
- Tap "Add device" in the top right corner of the app. The app will then display connectable locks with an "Add" button.
- Tap "Add" to start the connection, then tap "Done" to complete the pairing process.
- You can now manage user information and lock settings via the app.
3.5 Adding Admin / General User Information via App
Important: If an app user has admin privileges for the home, any new user added (password, fingerprint, or keycard) will automatically gain admin rights for the lock, up to the maximum of 10 admins.
- Users with admin privileges for your home are indicated in the app. You can change permissions in the app's "Settings" menu.
- Admin users added via the lock may be identified by default names like: Finger2, Password5, Card3.
- User information with numbers exceeding 10 (e.g., Finger11, Card12, Password15) are considered general users.
Adding User Information via App:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and open the Hafele Smart Living app.
- Tap the "Member Management" menu, then select the desired user account.
- Choose the type of user information to add (fingerprint, password, or keycard) and follow the on-screen instructions.
Recommendations:
- Check that the lock is within Bluetooth connection range.
- User information added this way is always permanent.
- Ensure fingers are clean and dry before using the fingerprint sensor. Dirt, oil, and moisture can affect fingerprint recognition.
3.6 Deleting General User Information via App
Recommendation: At least one admin must remain; they cannot be deleted.
Deleting User Information via App:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and open the Hafele Smart Living app.
- Tap the "Member Management" menu, then select the user account to delete.
- Select the type of user information to delete (fingerprint, password, or keycard) and tap "Delete".
Precautions:
- Check that the lock is within Bluetooth connection range.
- The Master Admin cannot be deleted unless the system is reset to factory defaults.
4. Usage
4.1 Exterior and Interior Unit Details

4.2 Status Indicator Lights
- Blue Light: Indicates the lock is active.
- Green Light: Confirms successful authentication.
- Red Light: Indicates failed authentication.
- Flashing Red Light with Audible Alert: Indicates low battery power. The alert persists even in silent mode.
- System Locked Down: If there are 6 failed unlock attempts, the system locks for 160 seconds with a "System is locked down" alert and a red status light.
- Factory Reset: Flashing blue light with an audible alert indicates that all user data and settings have been deleted.
4.3 Locking and Unlocking the Door
- Locking the Door: Close the door and lift the handle to engage the bolt.
- Unlocking from Outside:
- Fingerprint: Touch a registered fingerprint to the sensor.
- Keycard: Touch a registered keycard to the reader on the keypad.
- Password: Touch the screen, enter the registered 6-8 digit password, and press [#] to confirm.
- Key: Insert the key into the keyhole and turn 90 degrees, then lower the handle to open the door.
- Unlocking from Inside: Lower the handle on the interior unit.
- Locking from Inside: Lift the handle on the interior unit.
4.4 Passage Mode (Always Unlocked)
[warning] In Passage Mode, anyone can open the door by pressing the handle, and the door remains unlocked at all times.
Activating Passage Mode:
- Via Lock: Unlock the door with registered user information. The numbers "2" and "8" on the keypad will light up for 5 seconds. Press "2" and "8" to activate Passage Mode.
- Via App: Open the Hafele Smart Living app, tap "more", then tap "Passage Mode" to activate.
Deactivating Passage Mode:
- Via Lock: Unlocking the door with registered user information automatically deactivates Passage Mode.
- Via App: Open the Hafele Smart Living app, tap "more", then tap "Passage Mode" to deactivate.
Recommendation: After activating Passage Mode, an alert "Passage mode ON" will sound if someone attempts to unlock the door from the outside. When in Passage Mode, unregistered user information can be used to unlock the door. When in Auto-lock Mode, only registered user information is required for unlocking.
4.5 Privacy Mode
Privacy Mode is designed to temporarily prevent general users from opening the door from the outside. Once activated, only administrators or the mechanical key can unlock the door from the outside.
Users who can still unlock when Privacy Mode is active:
- Administrators (Admin slots 1-10).
- App Unlock: Only users with "Home Owner" privileges.
- Key Unlock.
Activation: Slide the privacy mode switch on the interior unit to the "Unlocked Key" icon.
Deactivation: To deactivate Privacy Mode, authenticate as an administrator to unlock, or slide the privacy mode switch on the interior unit to the "Locked Key" icon.
Recommendations:
- If the lock is in Passage Mode, activating Privacy Mode will automatically deactivate Passage Mode.
- Once Privacy Mode is activated, Passage Mode cannot be activated from either the lock or the app.
4.6 Important Information - Bluetooth Connection for App Usage
Thank you for choosing Hafele digital door locks. For optimal functionality, this lock is designed to connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth, with a connection range of approximately 15-20 meters.
For remote setup and unlocking, or real-time access to lock data from anywhere, you will need to purchase the optional Wi-Fi Multimode Gateway (Product Code: 499.21.220). For more information, please contact Hafele customer service.
4.7 Hafele Smart Living App
Functions within the Hafele Smart Living App:
- App Unlock: Unlock the door within Bluetooth range via the smartphone app. You can also grant unlocking permissions to family members using the app.
- Managing Unlock Data / Access Rights: Fully manage user information and access rights for family members through the app, including adding or deleting fingerprints, keycards, or passwords.
- Creating Temporary Passwords: Generate custom passwords with limited validity periods from anywhere (when the lock is online via Gateway). The app also offers offline temporary password creation, ideal for granting access for specific periods.
- Lock Settings: In the app, users can enable/disable Passage Mode, adjust volume levels, or set the language for voice guidance.
[warning] Continuous use of app functions or connection to the Wi-Fi Multimode Gateway will reduce battery life faster than normal.
4.8 Hafele Smart Living App Usage
1. Main Screen
- 1. Lock Name: Tap to change the name.
- 2. Passage Mode Status: Indicates if Passage Mode is on or off.
- 3. Privacy Mode Status: Indicates if Privacy Mode is on or off.
- 4. Lock Status: Shows if the lock is Locked or Unlocked.
- 5. Unlock History & Notifications: Displays past unlock events and alerts.
- 6. Temporary Password Management: For creating and managing temporary codes.
- 7. Member Management: Manage user access rights and information.
- 8. Smart Scenes: Set up automated actions for smart home integration.
- 9. Lock Settings: Access various lock configurations.
- 10. Unlock Button: Directly unlock the door from the app.
2. Settings
- 1. Remote Unlock: Configure whether non-admin users can unlock via the app.
- 2. Passage Mode: Enable/disable Passage Mode, keeping the door unlocked.

3. Unlock Information Added via Lock Menu
This message appears for unlock information added via the lock's settings menu (not the app). Tap the message to associate it with an app user.
- a.) General user information added directly via the lock starts from number 11 onwards.
- b.) Administrator or admin users added via the lock appear in the system as: Password 1 (first admin).
4. Adding Unlock Information via App
You can add, delete, and manage all user unlock information for your lock. Select to view details.
- a.) Family Members: App users with whom you share your "Home" and all smart home devices, including this lock. Users must register an app account to join your "Home". Homeowners can add, assign permissions, or remove users from the "Home Management" screen.
- b.) Shared Access Users: Other app users to whom you have granted access to this lock.
5. Creating Temporary Passwords
- Custom: You can create your own password and assign a name. The lock must be online and connected to the app for the password to be transferred. Check the "Record" button for transfer status.
- Time-Limited, One-Time, Dynamic: These codes can be generated offline. The lock verifies them using an algorithmic calculation.
- Clearing Code: For offline generated codes (item 2), a Clearing Code is required to delete them from the lock.

5. Additional Usage
5.1 Emergency Key Unlock
Unlocking with a Key (Emergency): In case of power failure or dead battery, use the mechanical key to unlock.
- Insert the key into the keyhole at the bottom of the exterior unit.
- Turn the key 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
- Lower the handle to open the door.
[warning] Do not press the handle while turning the key, as this may damage the lock. Always turn the key first, then press the handle down.
5.2 Emergency Power Supply
Emergency Power Supply: If the battery is depleted and the lock is inoperable, follow these steps to restore functionality:
- Connect a 5V power supply to the USB-C port on the exterior unit and wait about 10 seconds for the lock to initialize and unlock the door.
- Replace all batteries with new AA alkaline batteries (4 pcs).
5.3 Battery Replacement
Battery Replacement Steps:
- Lift the battery cover off the magnetic mount on the interior unit and remove it.
- Replace all 4 AA alkaline batteries with new ones and reattach the battery cover.
5.4 Factory Reset
[warning] This reset will delete all user information, settings, and app connections!
Factory Reset:
- Remove the battery cover and locate the reset button below the battery compartment on the interior unit.
- Gently press the reset button with a paperclip or similar object. Hold it down until you hear 5 short beeps and the "Please wait" alert.
- The lock will reboot, confirming with the "Initialize system, system has been emptied" alert.
