2.3 Installation Steps
- Determine drilling distance: Follow the provided drilling template to determine the hole positions. Ensure the height from the floor is 1 - 1.2 meters, then drill the door holes as specified.
- Install the lock cylinder: Insert the lock cylinder into the door and secure it with the two screws.
- Check handle alignment: Ensure the interior and exterior handle positions are opposite the lock cylinder to prevent the door frame from hitting the handles when opening or closing the door. (The handle direction can be adjusted as shown in the image).
- Install screw studs: Insert two screw studs into the exterior unit. Adjust the lock cylinder latch length as per the instructions on page 8. Then, secure the lock cylinder latch to the unit with the locking pin.
- Install unit mounting screws: Adjust the unit mounting screws (2 pcs) according to the instructions on page 8. Then, install them onto the interior unit mounting plate.
- Install the exterior unit: Thread the three wires through the drilled hole and the upper hole of the interior unit mounting plate. Ensure the lock cylinder latch is inserted into the bolt mechanism of the lock cylinder. Then, secure the exterior unit to the mounting plate with screws.
- Install the handle spindle: Insert the handle spindle into the handle spindle hole of the interior unit. Press the latch on the handle spindle before inserting it into the hole to lock the spindle in place. Then, connect the wires from the exterior unit and the lock cylinder to the corresponding connectors on the interior unit.
- Attach the interior unit: Align the interior unit with the mounting plate and secure it with the three screws. Check if the unlock lever on the interior unit operates correctly.
- Install the battery and display screen: Insert the battery into the battery compartment of the interior unit. Install the display screen by inserting the bottom edge first, then pushing the top part of the screen into the unit.
Note: After completing the installation and connecting the battery, the lock system should initialize. You can then proceed to the next setup steps.

4.7 Important Information - Using the App via Wi-Fi Connection
Thank you for choosing the Hafele digital door lock. For optimal performance, this digital door lock is designed to be controlled and operated via the Hafele Smart Living application, connecting to the internet via a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network only.
For pairing setup instructions, please refer to page 16.
Caution: For smooth two-way communication or video calls, it is recommended to ensure the lock can receive a stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal from the nearest access point (e.g., Wi-Fi router or extender). A minimum internet speed of 50 Mbps for both upload and download is also recommended.
4.8 Hafele Smart Living Application
Functions in the Hafele Smart Living Application
- 2-Way Communication (Video Call): If the lock is connected to a quality internet signal, you can use the two-way communication function with people at the door from anywhere. When a guest presses the doorbell, the system will call your smartphone via the app, allowing you to talk and view the camera feed in real-time.
- Person Detection at the Door: When the motion detection sensor (radar) is activated via the app, if someone stands at the door for a period, the system will automatically take a picture and send it to your smartphone, allowing you to track movements immediately.
- Remote Unlock: You can unlock the door from anywhere via the smartphone application and grant unlocking permission to family members who use the app. Note: The lock must be in Wi-Fi Active mode (continuously connected to Wi-Fi). See page 22 for details.
- Managing Unlock Data / Member Access Rights: You can fully manage user data and access rights of family members through the application, including adding or deleting face, fingerprint, key card, or password information for each user.
- Creating Temporary Passwords: You can create custom passwords with specified usage times (only for Custom type passwords, and the lock must be in Wi-Fi connection mode at all times). There is also a random password generation function for offline use, useful for allowing others to unlock the door temporarily without an internet connection.
Caution: Frequent use of the video call or peephole camera functions, as well as keeping the lock in continuous operation without rest, may reduce battery life and require more frequent battery charging.

- Cloud Storage Service: This is a subscription-based service. Users must pay an additional fee to extend the data storage period and enable short video clip storage. Without a subscription, the system can only store image data for 14 days.
- Activation Mode: By default, the lock is in Wi-Fi sleep mode, connecting to Wi-Fi only when the lock is used. To have the lock continuously connected to the internet, you can enable Active Wi-Fi Mode (Activation Mode) from the settings menu. Users can also set a time for the lock to automatically enter Sleep Mode during the night to reduce power consumption. Note: Continuous activation of Active Wi-Fi Mode will reduce battery life and may require more frequent charging.
- Remote Unlock Permission: App unlocking can be disabled or restricted to administrators only.
2. Settings Screen (Part 2)
- Radar Detection: By default, the person detection function is disabled. To have the lock automatically detect people for face unlock, please enable this function in the settings menu. Note: The sensor has a detection range of approximately 1.5 meters. If the sensor is accidentally triggered by frequent passersby, it may reduce battery life.
- Passage Mode: When Passage Mode is activated, the lock remains unlocked at all times. Unregistered users can open the door without authentication.
- Double Authentication: This mode is also known as High-Security Mode. When activated, users must authenticate with two unlocking methods, such as Face + Password or Fingerprint + Key Card, to unlock the door.
- Lock Volume Level: The lock volume can be adjusted to 3 levels (Mute - Normal - Loud).
3. Adding Unlock Information via the Lock's Menu
- 1. Unlocking Data from Lock Memory: This message will appear for unlocking data added via the lock's settings menu (not the app). Click the displayed message on the right to associate it with a user account in the app.
- a.) Administrator or Admin data will also appear in this list, always designated as the first three numbers:
- Password1
- Finger2
- Card3
- b.) General user data starts from the 4th sequence number, for example, Face4, Finger5, etc.
4. Adding Unlock Information via the App
- Add Unlock Information via the App: You can add/delete and manage all user unlock information for your lock. Select to view information as shown in the image on the right.
- a.) Family Member Data: App users are those with whom you share your "Home" and all smart home devices, including this lock. Users must register an app account to participate in this "Home" usage. The homeowner can add, assign permissions, or remove users from the home in the "Home Management" menu on the app's main screen.
- b.) Other Member Data: Users who have not logged in or registered for the app can also be added and deleted from this settings window.
5. Creating Temporary Passwords
- 1. Custom Password (Lock must be online at all times):
- You can set the password digits and name it yourself.
- The lock must be in Active Wi-Fi mode for it to transfer this password data to the lock's memory.
- You can check if the password transfer was successful by clicking the "Record" button in the upper right corner of the app screen.
- 2. Time-Limited, One-Time, Dynamic Random Passwords (Lock does not need to be online): These passwords can be generated offline, and the system will automatically assign the digits. The lock will verify the password's correctness using an algorithmic calculation system.
- 3. Clearing Passwords (Lock does not need to be online): Since the random passwords in point 2 are not in the lock's memory, if you wish to delete them, you must do so by entering the Clearing password on the lock.
Comparison Table of Password Types
