  2. Press and hold the /°C/°F button for 3 seconds to select the desired temperature unit (°C or °F). The unit will be remembered for future use.
  3. Insert the probe tip into the food being cooked. The thermometer will begin measuring the internal food temperature.
  4. Press the LIGHT button to activate the backlight, which will automatically turn off after 15 seconds.
  5. Wait for the temperature reading on the display to stabilize.
  6. Press the LOCK/CAL button to lock the current temperature reading.
  7. Press the /°C/°F button to turn off the thermometer. The device also features an auto-off function, turning off after 10 minutes of inactivity.

Calibration

The thermometer has a calibration feature, though it is typically calibrated at the factory. If you suspect inaccuracy after extended use, follow these steps:

  1. Prepare an ice/water mixture: Fill a thermal insulated container (or beaker/cup) with ice cubes (at least 70% volume) and top with cold distilled or purified water (no more than 30% volume).
  2. Stir the mixture and let it sit for 10 minutes for temperature equilibration.
  3. Turn on the thermometer. Hold the LOCK/CAL button for 5 seconds to enter Calibration Mode. 'CAL' will flash, followed by the current temperature reading flashing.
  4. Immerse the probe into the ice/water mixture, ensuring it does not touch the container sides. Wait for the reading to stabilize at its lowest point (around 32°F or 0°C). If the mixture temperature is not between 28°F to 36°F (-2°C to +2°C), remake the mixture.
  5. Hold the LOCK/CAL button for 3 seconds to confirm calibration and exit Calibration Mode.

Note: Calibration Mode lasts only 15 seconds. If not completed within this time, the thermometer will exit automatically.

Undo-Calibration

To revert to the default calibration setting:

  1. Turn on the thermometer and hold the LOCK/CAL button for 5 seconds to enter Calibration Mode.
  2. When the temperature reading flashes, press and hold the LIGHT button for 3 seconds. The reading will stop flashing, indicating the default calibration is restored.
