This is the user manual for the TCL T311D phone. There may be certain differences between the description in the manual and the phone's operation, depending on the software version on your phone or specific carrier services.
Finding Serial or IMEI Number
You can find the serial number or IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number on the packaging. Or press *#06# on the phone or go to Settings > Legal information and safety > IMEI.

1 Your mobile phone
1.1 Keys and connectors

- 1. OK Button: Confirm option (press the center button). Press: access application list (on the home screen).

1.2 Getting started
1.2.1 Setup
Removing the back cover and inserting the battery:
Carefully plug the charger into the socket, without forcing it. Before plugging in the charger, check that the battery is properly inserted. The socket must be near the phone and easily accessible (avoid extension cords).
Inserting or removing SIM/micro SD card: Place the SIM card with the chip facing down and slide it into the slot. Check that it is properly inserted. To remove the card, press it and pull it out. Turn off the phone before inserting or removing the SIM/microSD card.
Charging the battery: Plug the charger into the phone and the socket.
To reduce power consumption and energy waste, unplug the charger when the battery is fully charged; turn off Bluetooth. In Settings, you can also reduce screen brightness and shorten the time it takes for the screen to go into standby mode.
1.2.2 Turning on the phone
To turn on the phone, hold the End button until the phone turns on. It will take a few seconds for the screen to light up. Long press/press(1) the left soft key to unlock the phone. Even if the SIM card is not installed, the phone will still turn on, and you will be able to use some phone functions.
1.2.3 Turning off the phone
To turn off the phone, hold the End button.
1.3 Home screen
Status bar: Status/Notifications.
1.4 Application list
Press the left soft key or the OK button on the home screen to access the application list.
Status bar description: The status bar appears at the top of the home screen. Icons show the phone's status, and new notifications appear on the status bar.

1.4.2 Changing the home screen wallpaper
On the home screen, press the OK button, select the Settings icon, then press the navigation key to select Screen > Wallpaper settings. Select a new picture from the Gallery or User-defined and press the left soft key, then select Set as wallpaper. Exit, and the new picture will be displayed on the home screen.
2 Call lists
2.1 Making a call
Dial the desired number, press the Call button to make the call, or press the Right soft key to select a contact from Contacts. Use the up or down part of the Navigation key to select the desired contact and press the Call button. If you make a mistake, you can delete the wrong numbers by pressing the Right soft key. To end the call, press the End button.
International calls: To make an international call, press twice to enter the '+' sign, then enter the international country code and the full number, and then press the Call button.
Emergency calls: If there is network coverage, dial the emergency number and press the Call button to make an emergency call.
2.2 Answering or rejecting a call
When receiving a call:
- Press the Left soft key or the Call button to answer.
- Press the Right soft key or the End button to reject the call.
2.3 Accessing voicemail
Press and hold 1 to call voicemail.(1) Follow the instructions to set up a voicemail account.
3 Contacts
3.1 Accessing Contacts
Contacts allow quick and easy access to the contact you want to find. You can access this function by:
- Pressing the OK button on the home screen and selecting Contacts.
- Pressing the right soft key on the home screen.
Interacting with contacts:
- 1. Press left soft key for more options.
- 2. Press OK button for contact details.
- 3. Press right soft key to return to the app list or home screen.
3.2 Adding a contact
On the contact list screen, select Options > New to add new contacts with detailed information. When finished, press the left soft key to save.
3.3 Editing contacts
Select a contact, press the OK button to access Details, select Options > Edit, and press the OK button to edit.
3.4 Deleting a contact
On the contact list screen, press the Left soft key to access Options, select Delete, and press the OK button to delete.
3.5 Available options
On the call list screen, you can access the following options:
- New: Create a new contact on your phone or SIM card.
- Write message: Send an SMS to the selected contact in Contacts.
- Call: Call the selected contact.
- Edit: Edit the selected contact.
- Delete multiple contacts: Delete one or more contacts simultaneously.
Import/Export
- Import contacts: Import contacts to the phone.
- Export contacts: Export contacts from the phone or SIM card.
Send vCard: Send contact via SMS/MMS/Bluetooth.
Other:
- Speed dial: Set one or more contacts for speed dial.
- Memory status: Display your phone's and SIM card's memory status.
- Own number: Set name and mobile number.
- Service number.
4 Tools
4.1 Alarm
Your phone has a built-in alarm clock with a snooze function. You can set up to 3 alarms with different wake-up times.
4.2 Clock
The clock displays the time based on your location when you insert the SIM card. You can select other cities to display the time in their time zones.
4.3 Flashlight
Turn the flashlight on/off.
4.4 Bluetooth
After pairing, you can exchange data, such as video clips, pictures, and audio clips, with other devices that have Bluetooth within a limited range.
4.5 Calculator
Press the up, down, left, right, and central soft keys to select +, -, ×, ÷, and =, in that order.
4.6 Calendar
Use the Calendar to keep track of important appointments, scheduled events, etc. To create a new event, select the date by pressing the navigation key, then press the OK button, fill in all the required information for this new event, press the left soft key to save. *This device supports a maximum of 20 calendar entries.
4.7 Call filter
You can set up a blacklist in this menu.
4.8 Conversion
Conversion supports weight and length conversion.
5 Messages
Use messaging to send and receive text (SMS/MMS) messages.
5.1 Writing a message
- On the home screen, press the OK button and select Messages.
- Enter the recipient's phone number in the To field or press the Central soft key to add recipients.
- Tap the Message field to enter the message text.
- When finished, press the Left soft key to select Options > Send to send the message.
5.2 Sending a multimedia message
MMS allows you to send video clips, pictures, contacts, and sounds. On the Message screen, select Options > Add and select the attachment. SMS will automatically be converted to MMS when media files (picture, video, sound, etc.) are attached.
5.3 How to type a message
When in Edit mode, you can press the Keyboard to change the input method to access numbers 1,2,3, or long press the corresponding key to get the desired number. You can enter text using predictive text input, or press # to set the desired text input.
- For normal text input, press the number keys 2-9 until the desired character appears. If the next letter you want is on the same key as the current letter, press the key until the next letter appears.
- Press the # key to select modes Abc/abc/ABC/123 or writing language.
- To enter punctuation or special characters, press the * key.
- If you want to delete a letter or symbol you have entered, press the Right soft key to delete them one by one.
Message Settings
- Message center: You can view the message center number.
- Message validity period: You can set the message validity period to 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, 72 hours, 1 week, or maximum.
- Status report: You can activate or deactivate status reports.
- Delivery path: Check the box to activate the delivery path.
- Encoding management: You can set the character code as GSM-7-bit, UCS2, or automatic.
- Save sent messages: You can choose whether to save sent messages or not.
- Preferred storage location: Set the storage location path for saved messages.
- Export SMS messages: Set the export path for SMS messages.
Automatic signature
Select to apply an automatic signature to messages.

Enter signature.
6 Camera
Your phone is equipped with a camera for taking photos and recording videos.
6.1 Camera
To access the function, press the Central soft key on the home screen and select Camera.
Photography
The screen acts as a lens. Position the object or landscape in the lens, and press the Central soft key to take a photo, press the Left soft key to save.
6.2 Video clips
Video recording
- Press the Left soft key and select DV mode to switch to video recording mode from camera mode.
- Press the Central soft key to record video.
- When finished, press the left soft key; it will be automatically saved. You can view the file by pressing Gallery in the application list.
7 Gallery
The Gallery acts as a media player, allowing you to view pictures and play video clips. Additionally, a range of other operations related to pictures and video clips are available for you to choose from. To view photos and video clips you have taken, access this function by pressing the OK button on the home screen and selecting Gallery.
8 Entertainment
This menu offers various entertainment options, including music, FM radio, Recording, and Games, depending on the device you purchased. To access the menu, press the OK button on the home screen and select Entertainment.
8.1 Music
You can play music files saved on your phone or microSD card. To play a music file, press the OK button on the home screen, then select Entertainment > Music.
8.2 FM Radio
Your phone is equipped with a radio. You can use the application as a traditional radio with saved stations. On the FM radio interface, press the Central soft key to play/pause the current station, press the navigation key up or down to adjust the volume. You can listen to the radio while other applications are open. To access the function, press the OK button on the home screen > Entertainment > FM radio.
8.3 Recording
Use this function to record audio files. The phone supports AMR. When recording is finished, the file will be automatically saved in Audio files.
9 Settings
To access the function, press the OK button on the home screen and select Settings.
9.1 Call settings
- Dual SIM card: In this menu, you can set the standby mode, answer on the original SIM card, or set the SIM name.
- Call forwarding: You can activate, cancel, or approve call forwarding to voicemail or a specific number.
- Call waiting: Activate / Deactivate the notification tone for another incoming call. You can also check the call waiting status.
- Call barring: The following configurations are possible:
- All outgoing calls: All outgoing calls are barred.
- All incoming calls: All incoming calls are barred.
- Incoming calls in roaming: All incoming calls are barred while roaming.
- ISD calling: All ISD calls are barred.
- Dial during INTL roaming: Outgoing international calls except those to your country are barred.
- Cancel all barring: Deactivate all call barring.
- Hide identification: You can choose to hide your ID, display the number, or display the ID.
- Other: You can activate/deactivate the Call minute reminder, SMS reply after rejection, and Automatic voice call recording in this menu.
9.2 Phone settings
- Time and date: Allows you to change date and time settings, including the 12/24 hour format (Year-Month-Day/Month-Day-Year/Day-Month-Year). You can also choose to automatically update the time display if you select Phone settings > Automatic time update.
- Language settings: You can select the display language and writing language in this menu.
- Automatic power on/off: You can set the power on/off time using this function.
- Battery charging management: You can set battery charging in this menu.
- Restore to factory settings?: Restore phone settings to default values. User data will be erased. Enter the default password 1234 to confirm restoring to previous settings and restarting.
9.3 Screen
This function allows you to select wallpaper settings, screen on settings, screen off settings, LCD backlight, date and time display, and keypad backlight time.
9.4 Security
You can protect your phone by activating and changing the PIN code and password; the initial password is 1234. This function also allows you to lock the phone by activating PIN2 for fixed dialing numbers.
- PIN: The SIM card protection code is required every time the phone is turned on, if the code is activated.
- Change PIN2: The protection code for certain SIM card functions (FDN) will be required if you try to access the card when the code is activated. Select to update it with a new one (between 4 and 8 digits).
- Phone is locked: The unlock code is required every time the phone is turned on.
9.5 Profiles
Using this menu, you can set the sound mode to Normal, Silent, Meeting, or Flight Mode.
9.6 Network settings
Network connection can be changed between Automatic and Manual selection.
9.7 Connectivity
In this menu, you can set up Data transfer accounts, data roaming, data connection, preferred SIM card.
9.8 Legal information and safety
View information about your phone, such as Device model, Manufacturer name, IMEI, CU-reference, etc.
9.9 Check for updates
If you want to update the system, tap Check for updates, and when the check is complete, your phone will have the latest software version.
9.10 About phone
You can view the Privacy Policy and terms of use.
10 My Files
To access this function, press the Central soft key on the home screen and select My Files. Your phone has internal memory where you can organize files, and it also has a microSD card. The contents of the microSD card can be changed. You can create a new folder, rename, search, select, and view details of files located in it.
11 Troubleshooting
Before contacting service, please refer to the following instructions:
- For optimal operation, it is recommended to charge the battery fully.
- Avoid storing large amounts of data on the phone, as this may affect its performance.
Check the following:
Phone cannot be turned on or is frozen
- Check battery contacts, remove and reinsert the battery, then turn on the phone.
- Check the battery charge level and charge it for at least 20 minutes.
Phone does not respond for several minutes
- Restart the phone by pressing and holding the End button.
- Remove and reinsert the battery, then restart the phone.
Phone turns off by itself
- Check if the phone is locked when not in use, and check if you accidentally turned off the phone when locking it by pressing the End button.
- Check the battery charge level.
Phone is not charging properly
- Check if you are using a TCL battery and charger.
- Check if the battery is properly inserted. You must insert it before plugging in the charger.
- Check if the battery is completely drained, as if the battery has been drained for a long period, it may take about 20 minutes for the charge indicator to appear on the screen.
- Check if charging is taking place under normal conditions (0 °C to +40 °C).
- When abroad, check if the power supply voltage is compatible.
Phone cannot connect to the network or displays the message 'Service not available'
- Try connecting from a different location.
- Check coverage with the operator.
- Check with the operator if your SIM card is valid.
- Try to manually select the available network.
- Try connecting later if the network is overloaded.
Phone cannot connect to the internet
- Check if internet access service is available on the SIM card.
- Check the phone's internet connection settings.
- Check if you are in a location with network coverage.
- Try connecting later or from a different location.
Invalid SIM card
- Check if the SIM card is inserted correctly.
- Check if the SIM card chip is damaged or scratched.
- Check if the SIM card service is available.
Cannot make an outgoing call
- Check if you have entered the correct number and pressed the Call button.
- For international calls, check the country and city code.
- Check if the phone is connected to the network and if the network is not overloaded or unavailable.
- Check your subscription status with the operator (credit, SIM card validity, etc.).
- Check if you have possibly set a restriction on outgoing calls.
- Check if the phone is not in flight mode.
Incoming calls cannot be received
- Check if the phone is turned on and connected to the network (check if the network is not overloaded or unavailable).
- Check your subscription status with the operator (credit, SIM card validity, etc.).
- Check if you have possibly set up call forwarding for incoming calls.
- Check if you have set restrictions for certain calls.
- Check if the phone is not in flight mode.
Caller ID is not displayed when receiving calls
- Check with your operator if you are subscribed to this service.
- The caller has hidden their name or number.
Cannot find my contacts
- Check if the SIM card is damaged.
- Check if the SIM card is inserted incorrectly.
- Import all contacts from the SIM card to the phone.
Poor call quality
- You can adjust the call volume by pressing the Volume key.
- Check the network signal strength.
- Check if the receiver, connector, and microphone on the phone are clean.
Cannot use functions described in the manual
- Check with your operator if your subscription includes this service.
- Check if this function requires additional TCL accessories.
When I select a number from the directory, the number cannot be dialed
- Check if you have entered the correct number.
- Check if you have entered the country code when calling abroad.
Cannot add a contact to Contacts
- Check if the SIM card directory is full; delete some files or save files to the phone contacts.
Callers cannot leave a message in voicemail
Contact your mobile operator to check the availability of this service.
Cannot access voicemail
- Check if your operator's voicemail number is entered correctly.
- Try again later if the network is busy.
SIM card is PIN locked
Contact the operator to obtain the PUK code (Personal Unlock Key).
Other devices cannot detect the phone via Bluetooth
- Check if Bluetooth is turned on and if the phone is visible to other users.
- Check if both phones are within Bluetooth range.
How can I transfer data between my phone and computer?
If you want to transfer data between the memory card/SD card and the computer, connect the phone to the computer using the data transfer cable and select 'SD card' on your phone. You will then be able to transfer data between the two locations.
