- The appliance is suitable only for domestic use and similar applications in closed rooms, and must only be used to heat incoming water from the mains supply.
- The appliance must never be exposed to frost.
- Observe the values stated on the rating plate.

To observe additionally for pressureless installation:
- The water outlet behind the devices must not be blocked, and the water flow must not be restricted.
- Water outlet facilities (shower head, jet control) must be decalcified regularly. Deposits must be removed at regular intervals.
- Only use fittings recommended by the manufacturer.
- If connected to a single shower, only use manufacturer-recommended shower heads. Do not install other fittings that decrease water flow.
2. Description of Appliance
The CLAGE DEX12 is an electronically controlled, pressure-resistant instantaneous water heater for decentralised water supply to one or more tap connections. Its electronic control regulates power consumption based on selected outlet temperature, inlet temperature, and flow rate, ensuring precise and constant temperature delivery even with pressure fluctuations. The required outlet temperature can be set via keypad between 20°C and 55°C and is displayed digitally.
Appliance Description: The unit is a white, vertical, rectangular instantaneous water heater. It features a digital display showing the current temperature (e.g., "40") and two control buttons below it. The CLAGE logo is visible on the front, and it is marked "MADE IN GERMANY".
3. How to Use
The instantaneous water heater switches on automatically when the hot water tap is opened and switches off when the tap is closed.
Temperature Setting
Use the arrow keys [up arrow] and [down arrow] to adjust the temperature gradually. Each short press changes the temperature by 1°C; a longer press changes it continuously. The outlet temperature can be set between 20°C and 55°C.
Note: If the temperature is set below 20°C, the display shows "--" and the heating function switches off.
Note: For showers, the maximum temperature may have been reduced during initial operation and cannot be exceeded.
Programme Buttons
The two programme buttons [program key 1] and [program key 2] allow quick selection of preset temperatures. The factory settings are 35°C for program 1 and 48°C for program 2.
Storing Temperatures: Press and hold a programme key for at least 3 seconds to store the currently selected temperature. The display will change to show the stored value (e.g., "P1" or "P2" followed by the temperature). This setting is then available each time you press the corresponding key.
Temperature Limitation (Scalding Protection)
This optional function is deactivated by default.
- Switch on: Select the desired limit temperature, then press [program key 1] and [down arrow] simultaneously for at least 3 seconds. The display briefly confirms activation with "HI".
- Switch off: Press [program key 2] and [down arrow] simultaneously for at least 3 seconds. The display briefly confirms deactivation with "--".
Note: Activating the temperature limit also limits the program keys. The fixed values of the program keys may need to be reset after deactivating the temperature limitation.
Reset to Factory Setting
To recall all factory settings, press and hold [program key 1] and [program key 2] simultaneously. The display will count backwards from "10" to "00". The appliance resets at "00". Stopping the press before "00" cancels the process.
How to Save Energy
Set the exact temperature you need. If the water is too hot, lower the appliance's temperature setting rather than adding cold water, as this wastes energy and can affect temperature constancy.
Power Limit
If the full output of the instantaneous water heater is insufficient for the tapped water quantity, a decimal point will appear on the LCD. Reducing the hot water flow rate will make the decimal point disappear, indicating sufficient output.
Top-up Heating
When using preheated water (e.g., from solar systems), ensure the inlet temperature does not exceed 70°C. If it does, the appliance will not provide output, and a flashing decimal point will indicate heating is switched off.
Venting After Maintenance Work
The appliance has automatic air bubble protection but must be vented before first use and after any emptying (e.g., after plumbing work, risk of frost, or repairs).
- Disconnect the appliance from the mains (e.g., via fuses).
- Unscrew the jet regulator on the outlet fitting and open the cold water tap to rinse the water pipe and prevent contamination.
- Open and close the hot water tap until no more air emerges and the heater is clear of air.
- Reconnect the power supply (e.g., via fuses) and screw the jet regulator back in.
- The appliance will activate heating after approximately 10 seconds of continuous water flow.
4. Cleaning and Maintenance
- Wipe plastic surfaces and fittings with a damp cloth only. Do not use abrasive, chlorine-based cleaning agents, or solvents.
- Periodically unscrew and clean outlet fittings (tap aerators, shower heads) for optimal water supply.
- Electrical and plumbing components should be inspected by an authorised professional every three years to ensure proper functioning and operational safety.
5. Troubleshooting and Service
Repairs must only be carried out by authorised professionals. If a fault cannot be rectified using this table, contact your importer's service organisation or the Central Customer Service Department. Have the details from the typeplate ready.
This instantaneous water heater is manufactured conscientiously. Should malfunctions occur, they are often minor. First, try resetting the electronics by switching the house fuses off and on again. Then, consult the table below to remedy the problem and avoid unnecessary customer service expenses.
