The Dyson Supersonic Nural™ hair dryer comes with several attachments designed for different styling needs. The main unit features a sleek design with controls located on the back and handle.

Main Unit Description: Starting from the head of the machine, the Scalp protect button is located at the top. The airflow button is on the left side, and the temperature button is on the right. The handle contains the power button and the Cold shot button at the top, with the filter cage at the bottom.

Included Attachments:

• Gentle air attachment: A flat nozzle with a rippled texture, designed for gentle yet fast drying.
• Styling concentrator: A flattened, flared nozzle for precision styling.
• Smoothing nozzle: A flat, straight nozzle to create a smooth, natural finish.
• Diffuser: A conical attachment with diffusing prongs for defined curls and waves.
• Flyaway smoother: An attachment with a cylindrical barrel and retractable brush bristles, used for styling and finishing with Coanda airflow.

Getting started

This section details the controls and features of the Dyson Supersonic Nural hair dryer.

Controls and Features:

• Scalp protect mode on/off: Scalp care is activated by default on first use. The Scalp protect button is located on the back, at the top of the cylindrical head of the hair dryer.
• Capsule: This houses the Time of Flight sensor, Hall sensor, and Capsule illumination. The capsule is suspended in the middle of the hair dryer's central bore.
• Airflow control: Offers 3 precise settings: Fast/High, Gentle/Medium, and Mild/Low. The airflow control button is on the back left-hand side of the cylindrical head of the hair dryer.
• Power on/off: A sliding switch located on the back, at the top of the handle. It operates by pushing upwards or downwards.
• Cold shot: Press and hold to deactivate heat and set your style. The Cold shot button is on the back of the handle, just below the power button.
• Temperature control: Provides 4 precise heat settings. The temperature control button is on the back right-hand side of the cylindrical head of the hair dryer.
• Air inlet: Covered by the filter, located at the bottom of the handle.
• Removable filter cage: Easily removed for cleaning, located at the bottom of the handle.

Visual Guide: The back of the hair dryer head features LED lights above the airflow and temperature buttons. There are three LED lights on each side. These illuminate as corresponding buttons are pressed and also indicate when the filter needs cleaning or if there is a fault.

Nural™ sensors

A network of Nural™ sensors enhances and optimizes your hair care routine.

Scalp protect mode:

A Time of Flight sensor measures distance, automatically reducing heat as it moves closer to your hair to maintain a comfortable, consistent scalp temperature.

Pause detect:

A motion-sensing accelerometer detects when the dryer is put down, automatically deactivating the heater, and reducing airflow and noise. The Capsule illumination will pulse blue.

Tip: To confirm Pause detect has activated, wait for the motor sound to ramp down before lifting your hand off the dryer. The capsule illumination will pulse blue.

Attachment learning:

A Hall sensor recognizes which styling attachment is connected, automatically switching to its last-used settings.

Capsule illumination:

The suspended capsule changes color to indicate the current heat setting. Heat and color will auto-adapt in Scalp protect mode.

Styling attachments

Attachment learning recognizes intelligent attachments and learns your preferred styling settings for each. All attachments are magnetic for easy rotation and fitting. Heat Shield technology keeps attachment surfaces cool. Remove attachments using the cool edges.

1. Gentle air attachment follows the same default presets as the hair dryer with no attachment connected.

LEDs

The LED lights indicate the settings you are using and provide diagnostic information.

Settings Indicators:

Airflow:

• Three white LEDs illuminated: Fast/High
• Two white LEDs illuminated: Gentle/Medium
• One white LED illuminated: Mild/Low

Temperature:

• Three red LEDs illuminated: High
• Two red LEDs illuminated: Medium
• One red LED illuminated: Low
• No red LED illuminated: Cool

Note: Maximum operating temperature is 105°C in normal conditions, and 145°C at safety shut down.

Diagnostics:

LEDs will flash continuously to indicate the machine needs attention.

• Filter Cleaning: If the LEDs indicate filter cleaning is needed, follow instructions or watch the video at dyson.com/yoursupersonicnural.
• Fault Indicator: If all three red lights continue to flash, contact the Dyson Helpline. Do not turn the device back on.

Visual Indicators:

• Three flashing white LEDs: Indicate a need for filter cleaning.
• Three flashing red LEDs: Indicate a fault condition.

Regular filter cleaning

Check your filter monthly for debris and hair product residue, or when the LED lights alert you. Regular maintenance is crucial for maintaining the hair dryer's performance.

Maintenance Steps:

1. Step 1: Hold the handle firmly and rotate the filter cage anti-clockwise.

2. Step 2: Pull the cage down and away from the machine. Use a lint-free cloth or soft brush to remove any dust or debris from both the filter cage and the filter mesh.
3. Step 3: Do not use water to clean the filter mesh and avoid applying too much pressure.
4. Step 4: Rotate the filter cage back into position until correctly aligned. Rotate clockwise to lock before use.
