Diagram and Assembly Overview
The document includes a diagram illustrating the assembly of the GDW tow bar system. Installation Guide
The following steps outline the installation process. It is recommended to consult the detailed diagrams and parts list for precise component placement.
- Loosen the exhaust from its rubbers and disassemble the bumper and heat shield. Permanently remove the original towing ring.
- Disassemble the metal buffer beam until the openings at the rear of the chassis beams are accessible.
- Position the mounting pieces (g) and (h) against the underside of the chassis beam, aligning points (A) and (A') with the pre-threaded holes. Insert washers and bolts but do not tighten fully. Slide mounting pieces (f) into the chassis beam until they reach point (B). Insert washers and bolts here as well, without tightening.
- Place the tow bar between the mounting pieces, aligning points (C) and (C') of the tow bar with the corresponding points on the mounting pieces. Insert bolts, washers, and nuts, then tighten all securely.
- Replace the buffer beam, supports, and bumper. Drill a hole in the heat shield to accommodate the tow bar bolt. Reattach the exhaust to its supporting rubbers.
- Assemble any remaining parts marked with (*) and tighten them securely.
Caution: When drilling, be careful not to damage any brake lines, electrical wiring, or fuel lines. Remove any bitumen coating or anti-vibration material from the fastening points.
