4. Introduction
The PAGENETDN is a programmable paging station with double audio output: digital (DANTE™/AES67) and analog (balanced). Thus, its control functions and microphone signal can be used for calls with any EclerNet digital matrix, whether or not it is compatible with DANTE™/AES67: MIO4040DN, MIMO88, MIMO88SG, and MIMO1212SG.
In parallel, it shares the same control functionalities as the WPNETTOUCH and can be programmed to control one or more EclerNet devices on the network; it can even control a complete installation, a project combining a multitude of different EclerNet devices: MIMO4040DN, MIMO88, MIMO88SG, MIMO1212SG digital matrices, NXA series digital audio managers, DUO-NET PLAYER units, etc. It is fully programmable using the EclerNet Manager application (*).
(*) Refer to the EclerNet Manager application user manual for more information. The EclerNet Manager application can be downloaded from www.ecler.com.
It features a desktop console design, including a gooseneck microphone and a 10-inch (26 cm) capacitive touchscreen that allows displaying and managing User Control Panels (UCP) for calls and for controlling EclerNet devices on the network, VEO video devices, and third-party devices.
4.1. Main Features
- Integrated touchscreen digital control panel, including the same features as the WPNETTOUCH:
- 10.1” IPS Screen (1280 x 800 pixels)
- Capacitive multipoint touchscreen
- Compatible with DC power via Ethernet (PoE)
- Compatible with external power supply: universal external power adapter with multiple country-specific pins
- 10/100 Mbit Ethernet Base-Tx Interface
- Gooseneck microphone with Flexo type connector, XLR connector with safety latch (to prevent accidental microphone removal)
- Audio transport via DANTE™/AES67, on 2 channels:
- DANTE™/AES67 channel n°1 used for microphone signal transmission
- DANTE™/AES67 channel n°2 used for AUX input signal transmission
- Phantom power available for microphone input
- Balanced analog output of the microphone signal, making the PAGENETDN compatible with devices that do not natively support DANTE™/AES67, such as MIMO88, MIMO88SG, and MIMO1212SG
- AUX input, on stereo RCA connectors for line level. The incoming signal is converted to mono and sent to the network on DANTE™/AES67 channel n°2. It can be used to connect an external audio source (like a media player) and inject its signal onto the network in DANTE™/AES67 format
- Call functions based on programmable UCP control panels
- EclerNet control device, with the ability to execute EclerNet projects on its internal engine, acting as a server and/or client of UCP panels
5. Installation and Connections
5.1. Installation and Cabling
The unit is supplied with its microphone unmounted, and the latter must be inserted into the console to use the PAGENETDN for making announcements.
To install the microphone, gently insert it by aligning the connection pins correctly with the console's XLR socket (the ecler logo on the microphone should face the rear of the unit) and apply firm pressure until a click is heard, indicating that the XLR safety latch has been correctly engaged. Once inserted, the microphone will remain in the console with a slight vertical play, providing very low handling noise and a feeling of great robustness.
When it is necessary to remove the microphone from the console, use a pointed tool to press the hole located at the rear of the microphone base on the console surface. This will release the XLR safety latch, allowing the microphone to be removed, again requiring some force to extract it.
Before programming and using it, the PAGENETDN must be connected to the network via its internal ETHERNET RJ45 interface. This, along with the other connectors, is accessible by unscrewing the metal plate under the unit (3 screws must be removed).
Diagram showing the interior of the PAGENET after removing the bottom metal plate:
It must also be powered by direct current (DC), either via Ethernet (PoE or Power over Ethernet) if the Ethernet switch to which the unit is connected supports it, or by 12V DC, 2A from the supplied external power adapter (EXTERNAL PSU CONNECTOR).
5.2. Audio Settings
Additionally, further audio connectors are available:
- AUX IN (L/R): Stereo line input on RCA connectors. The incoming signal is converted to mono and sent to the network on DANTE™/AES67 channel n°2. This input can be used to connect an external audio source (like a media player) and inject its signal onto the network in DANTE™/AES67 format.
- MIC OUT (ANALOGUE AUDIO OUT): Balanced mono signal (Euroblock). This is a copy of the microphone signal in analog format, allowing for the creation of paging systems combining devices not natively compatible with DANTE™/AES67.
The PAGENETDN has several audio controls in its electronics that can be used to adapt the incoming analog audio signals:
- PHANTOM POWER ON/OFF (default = ON): enables/disables the phantom power supplied to the microphone's XLR connector to allow the use of an electrostatic microphone, such as the one originally supplied with the PAGENETDN (Ecler eMCN1 model).
- HPF (High Pass Filter) ON/OFF (default = ON): enables/disables the high-pass filter (12 dB/oct. from 100 Hz) applied to the audio signal captured by the microphone capsule, to minimize low frequencies and unwanted noise entering the voice message circuit in the audio system.
- MIC IN GAIN (*): gain adjustment for the preamp of the signal received from the microphone. It affects both channel 1 on the DANTE™/AES67 output and the analog signal on the ANALOGUE AUDIO (MIC) OUT output.
- AUX IN GAIN (LINE GAIN): gain adjustment for the preamp of the stereo line-level signal received at the AUX IN input, subsequently converted to mono and sent to DANTE™/AES67 channel n°2.
(*) Note: The microphone's XLR connector allows the use of standard XLR microphones, such as the Ecler eMCN1 supplied with the unit, but not those whose base is thicker than the standard XLR size.
6. Operation
The PAGENET must be correctly included in an EclerNet project, and configured (regarding DANTE™/AES67 audio routing and/or control functions) to finally display the paging and UCP control panels that the end-user will have. Examples:

7. Local Unit Configuration
The settings and configuration menus of the PAGENETDN are accessible locally from the device's own touchscreen. These menus are exactly the same as those available for the WPNETTOUCH, as it actually integrates a WPNETTOUCH unit.
The same settings are accessible remotely when the unit is under the control of a computer running the EclerNet Manager application.
Local access to the configuration menus is obtained by clicking on the SETUP icon (configuration), which is shaped like a gear, on the unit's home screen:
User Control Panels
The available configuration menus are:
- Screen Configuration
- Device Configuration
- Network Configuration
- Information/Tools
7.1. Screen Configuration Menu
This menu allows adjusting various parameters affecting the elements and commands displayed on the unit's screen:
- Display mode: screen behavior regarding dimming in standby mode, after 10 seconds of user inactivity on the touchscreen. Available modes are: ON (always on), DIMMED (dimmed), and OFF (off).
- Backlight Intensity: backlight intensity of the screen when it is not in standby mode.
- Auto-Zoom Panels: when this option is enabled, the graphical control panels (UCP) are automatically resized to best utilize the maximum visible surface, regardless of the resolution they were originally created with in the EclerNet Manager project file.
Show Panel OSD Buttons: enables/disables the overlay display of navigation buttons in the corners of the displayed UCPs. The top corner buttons allow scrolling through the panel pages (left and right), and the bottom corner buttons provide access to the icon bar:
PRESET SELECTOR
Remark: even if the buttons are not displayed, they can remain active, so pressing the top corners activates horizontal scrolling from one panel page to another, and pressing the bottom corners displays the icon bar. This is an aspect that must be taken into account for the layout of controls (buttons, sliders, rotary controls, etc.) during the design of each UCP page; the corners should remain empty if these screen buttons are to be used for page changes (top buttons) and must be obligatorily so for those at the bottom (icon bar display).
Scroll by OSD Buttons: enables/disables page scrolling by pressing the top corners, even when the screen buttons are hidden.
Scroll by Swipe: enables/disables page scrolling by swiping (touching and dragging) left or right on the screen.
The icon bar displays new access to horizontal scrolling between panel pages (left and right), access to the unit's home page (house icon ?), and closing the icon bar (X icon ❌):

7.2. Device Configuration Menu
This menu allows adjusting the following device parameters:
- Device Name: device name, as displayed on other WPNETTOUCH / WPmSCREEN units and in the EclerNet Manager application.
- Device Password: password to protect the device against modification of its essential configuration parameters, and which is requested if activated (activated = non-blank password).
- Enable UCP Server: enables/disables the unit's integrated UCP server.
- Activated (Yes): the EclerNet project stored in the unit (local project or “Local Project”) will be fully functional, taking control of the devices included in it (MIMO4040DN, MIMO88, NXA units, etc.) and providing the UCP panels it contains to any UCP clients on the network.
- Deactivated (No): the local EclerNet project is deactivated, consequently disabling control over all included devices (MIMO4040DN, MIMO88, NXA units, etc.) and ceasing to provide UCPs to clients.
Warning: when this parameter is deactivated, another device or computer executing a project that calls for all or part of the devices covered by the WPNETTOUCH local project may take control of them. A device can only be controlled by one other device and project at a time, so units controlled by one device must first be released before they can be controlled by another:
- In EclerNet Manager, you can release devices controlled by the computer by creating a new project (File -> New Project), or by disconnecting them one by one from the network (right-click -> Disconnect).
- On a WPNETTOUCH / WPmSCREEN, you can release devices controlled by the unit by setting the “Enable UCP Server” option to “NO”.
7.3. Network Configuration Menu
This menu allows changing the network connection parameters of the WPNETTOUCH:
- IP Address (IP address)
- Network Mask (network mask)
- Gateway (gateway)
Remark: neither the WPNETTOUCH nor any other EclerNet device supports the automatic IP address assignment protocol (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol or DHCP), so static addresses must always be assigned manually.
7.3.1 Factory Default Network Settings
The factory default network settings for devices compatible with the EclerNet manager are as follows:
- IP: 192.168.0.100
- Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gate: 192.168.0.1
- UDP Port: 2210
7.4. Information/Tools Menu
This menu displays the following information:
- Server IP Address: IP address of the UCP server device to which the unit is connected as a UCP client. When the unit is connected to itself as a client, it displays its own IP address (= Local IP Address).
- Server Project: name of the project executed on the server to which the unit is connected as a UCP client (project executed on the client’s UCP server).
- Local IP Address: IP address configured for the WPNETTOUCH.
- Local Project: name of the project stored in the WPNETTOUCH's internal storage. This project can be uploaded to the WPNETTOUCH using the EclerNet Manager app.
- Available Storage: internal storage space available for uploading a project file that must include the data and graphics of the User Control Panels (UCP).
- Ethernet Address: MAC address of the network interface card (NIC) installed in the WPNETTOUCH.
- Display resolution: native screen resolution of the unit's IPS panel (1280 x 800).
- Firmware Version: displayed in the bottom right corner (v0.04r11 in the example above).
And the following restore/reboot options:
- Project Defaults: erases the project in memory, replacing it with a blank project after warning you that the process is irreversible:
Project Defaults
Warning: this action will replace the current project with a default (blank) one, losing all the configuration and user data in the current project. Are you sure?
Factory Defaults: erases all unit configuration and data, restoring factory default settings after warning you that the process is irreversible:

This action will reboot this device, losing network connection for a while and recovering normal performance after the reboot. Are you sure?
8. Connecting to a UCP Server
From the unit's home screen, the connection icon at the top of the screen provides access to the connection page:
User Control Panels
This page allows selecting the UCP server to which the unit will connect as a client. The UCP server can be a computer, a MIMO4040DN matrix (in fact, it has an integrated UCP server in its engine!), another WPNETTOUCH / WPmSCREEN unit, or the same PAGENETDN / WPNETTOUCH unit. In all cases, the UCP server must host and execute an EclerNet Manager project including a series of UCPs that can be managed remotely by any UCP client.
It is possible to directly enter the server device's IP address using the on-screen touch keyboard or select a device from a list of automatically detected servers, which is accessed by clicking the gray button with a list icon to the right of the “Connect” button:
Connect to... | Server list
Select the UCP server to connect to:
Remark: in the list of detected server devices, the name of the WPNETTOUCH used appears in green (it is the one corresponding to the local IP address).
After selecting a server or an IP address using one of these two methods, pressing the “Connect” button will confirm the selection and initiate the connection process to the server. If this process is successful, the UCPs that the server makes available to the WPNETTOUCH client will appear on the screen:
