Product Overview

The feeder consists of the following parts:

  1. Lid
  2. Desiccant

Assembly and Setup

Step 1: Connecting Power

Plug the 5V power adapter into the bottom of the feeder.

Install 3× D Cell Batteries in the bottom of the feeder for backup power in case of outages.

Plug in the home power supply.

Indicator Light Status: When the indicator light blinks blue and you hear beeps, it indicates the network is waiting for a connection.

Step 2: Meal Splitter Installation

Ensure the entrance of the pet food faces towards the back of the product.

Step 3: Food Tank Installation

Install as shown. Align the opening in the bottom of the food tank with the opening in the base of the feeder, then turn clockwise to lock.

Step 4: Feeder Base Installation

Place the stainless steel bowl into the bowl tray.

Insert the bowl tray into the feeder base.

Step 5: Add Food

Note:

  • Please pour in dry food only; do not use wet food or canned food.
  • Recommended food size: 5-15mm (0.19-0.59in).

Close the lid.

Tip: Please refer to the diagram for opening the feeder lid.

Step 6: Wall Hook Installation

Part 1: Mounting the Hook

Place the wall hook on the wall and mark the holes using a pen. The wall hook must be kept 8-9.5cm (3.15-3.75in) away from the floor.

Use an impact drill to drill the holes. Use a 1/4" (6mm) diameter drill bit.

Use a hammer to tap the plastic wall anchors into the hole, flush with the wall.

Tighten screws to secure the wall hook.

Part 2: Attaching the Feeder

Align the holes on the back of the feeder with the hooks on the wall hook and slide down.

Installation completed.

Operation and App Control

Buttons Explained

Note: Battery power is for emergency use only. Ensure dual power supply for normal operation. For WiFi connection, ensure the feeder and home WiFi are within 6m (19.7ft) of the router.

Control Panel Buttons:

  • 1. Reset WiFi: Long press for 5 seconds.
  • 2. Manual Feeding: Short press to dispense one portion. Long press to dispense food continuously.
  • 3. Indicator Light: Displays status.

App Installation and Log In

Download and install the "Smart Life" app by scanning the QR code or searching in your device's app store.

Sign up for an account or log in if you already have one.

Adding the Feeder to the App

Step 1: Turn on Phone Permissions

Note: Before adding the device, ensure your phone's Bluetooth, WLAN, and GPS are enabled. Network connection is only possible when the feeder is plugged in.

Step 2: Prepare the Feeder for Connection

Turn on the feeder's power. The indicator light should be flashing blue.

Open the Smart Life APP. Tap the [+] icon in the upper right corner to add the device.

Follow the app prompts to complete the process.

Connection Methods

Method 1: Bluetooth Connection

1. In the app, tap "Add Device".

2. Select your device and click.

3. Enter Wi-Fi information (choose Wi-Fi and enter password).

Method 2: Access Point Connection

1. In the app, tap "Add Device".

2. Navigate to "Small Home Appliances" and select "Pet Feeder (2.4GHz&5GHz)".

3. Enter Wi-Fi information.

4. Reset the device by pressing and holding the RESET button for 5 seconds until the indicator blinks.

5. Connect your mobile phone to the device's hotspot (e.g., "SmartLife-XXXX" or "SL-XXXX").

6. Follow app prompts to add the device.

App Features

The Smart Life app offers the following features:

  1. Settings: Supports third-party control (e.g., Alexa), device sharing, and automation (Tap-to-Run).
  2. Slow Feed: Dispenses one portion of food every minute interval. This function is active only within the set feeding schedule.
  3. Feeding Reminders: Displays the next scheduled feeding time.
  4. Feeding Schedule: Allows setting up to 30 meals per day. Ensure the correct date is selected when setting.
  5. Feed Record: View the history of dispensed meals.
  6. Manual Feeding: Dispense up to 12 portions per click.

Setting a Feeding Schedule

You can continuously set a daily feeding schedule for your pet.

Note: The pet feeder will operate for no more than 4 weeks on battery power alone. For continuous operation, using a dual power supply is recommended.

Disassemble for Cleaning

Regular cleaning is recommended for your pet's health. The washable parts of the feeder include the lid, food tank, meal splitter, stainless steel feeding bowl, and bowl tray.

FAQ

Problem: Can't connect the feeder to WiFi

  • Ensure Bluetooth, WLAN, and GPS are turned on on your phone during connection. They can be turned off after successful connection.
  • Try connecting using alternative connection methods.
  • If the WiFi network is unstable, attempt to connect multiple times.
  • Connect the device near the router (ideally within 3 meters).
  • Consider switching to a 2.4G network connection.
  • Troubleshoot your router (e.g., reboot it) to ensure it's working properly.
  • Contact Frienhund support via the contact form if issues persist.

Problem: The WiFi connection goes offline frequently

  • Ensure the feeder has a good signal within the WiFi coverage area.
  • Check that the power cord is stably connected.
