Product Overview

The Smart Pet Feeder consists of the following parts:

Assembled Products

Step 1: Connecting Power

Connect the power cable and install batteries for backup.

  • Plug the 5V power adapter into the bottom of the feeder.
  • Install 3× D Cell Batteries (not included) in the bottom of the feeder for power outages.
  • Plug in the home power supply.
  • Indicator Light: When the indicator is blinking blue, it means the device is waiting for network connection.

Step 2: Meal Splitter Installation

Install the Meal Splitter onto the feeder base, ensuring the FRONT and BACK orientations are correct. It is recommended to install the Meal Splitter before installing the Food Tank.

Step 3: Food Tank Installation

Install the food tank onto the feeder base. Align the opening in the bottom of the food tank with the opening in the base of the feeder, then turn clockwise to lock.

Step 4: Feeder Base Installation

Place the stainless steel bowls into the bowl trays and insert the bowl trays into the feeder base.

Step 5: Add Food

Pour dry food into the food tank. The recommended food size is 5-15mm (0.19-0.59in). Close the lid securely.

Step 6: Wall Hook Installation

To mount the feeder on a wall:

  1. Place the wall hook on the wall and mark the holes using a pen. The wall hook should be kept 8-9.5cm (3.15-3.75in) away from the floor.
  2. Use an impact drill with a 1/4" (6mm) diameter drill bit to drill the holes.
  3. Use a hammer to tap the plastic wall anchors into the holes, flush with the wall.
  4. Tighten screws to secure the wall hook.
  5. Align the holes on the back of the feeder with the hooks on the wall hook and slide down.

Installation is now complete.

Memory Card Installation

To install a memory card for video storage:

  1. Take out the meal splitter from the feeder base.
  2. Take out the baffle.
  3. Insert a TF card (formatted in FAT32, up to 128GB) into the PCB slot.
  4. Attach the baffle back onto the feeder.

Buttons Explained

Front Panel

  • Button 1 (? Icon):
    • 1. Record Sound: Press and hold for 3 seconds until a beep is heard. Speak within 10 seconds and release the button to finish recording.
    • 2. Check Recordings: Press to play the recorded sound.
    • 3. Clear Recording: Press and hold for 3 seconds until a beep is heard, then immediately release the button.
  • Indicator Light: Displays the device status.

Side Panel

  • Button 4 (? Icon): Wi-Fi Reset Button. Press and hold for 5 seconds until a beep is heard, then release the button. Wait for the indicator light to turn blue and blink.

Manual Feeding

  • Short Press: Dispenses one portion of food.
  • Long Press: Dispenses food continuously while the button is held.

Note: If the blue light starts flashing, please finish connecting your phone to the device within fifteen minutes, otherwise the blue light will go out. To restart the blue light blinking state, re-plug the power supply or press and hold the Wi-Fi reset button for 5 seconds.

Install the APP and Log In

App Installation

Scan the QR code or search for "Smart Life" in your device's app store to download and install the app.

Sign up and Log In

After opening the app, register for an account if you don't have one, or log in directly if you already do.

Add Feeder to APP

Step 1: Turn on phone permissions.

Ensure Location Services, Bluetooth, WLAN, and GPS are enabled on your phone. The connection can only be established when the feeder is plugged in, not powered by battery.

Step 2: The feeder is ready to connect to the network

  • Turn on the power to the feeder.
  • Make sure the indicator light on the feeder is flashing blue.
  • Open the Smart Life APP, tap the [+] icon in the upper right corner to add the device.
  • Follow the app prompts to complete the process.

Method 1: Bluetooth Connection

  1. From the app's "Smart Protect" screen, tap "Add Device".
  2. The app will search for nearby devices. Ensure your feeder has entered pairing mode. Click on "Pet Feeder 2 Camera".
  3. Enter Wi-Fi information by choosing your Wi-Fi network and entering the password.

Method 2: Camera Scanning QR Code Connection

  1. From the app's "Smart Protect" screen, tap "Add Device".
  2. Navigate through "Small Home Appliances" > "Pet" > "Pet Feeder With Camera (2.4GHz&5GHz)".
  3. Scan the QR code from 15 to 20 cm away.
  4. Enter Wi-Fi information.

Note for QR Code Scanning: Please select a camera with a Wi-Fi reset button on the side for scanning. If you choose a camera without this button, scanning may fail. Ensure the camera is tilted downward and the phone is also tilted to align correctly. Move the phone back and forth for better QR code recognition.

Tips: Battery power is for emergency use only. Ensure dual power supply for normal use. Maintain a distance of within 6m (19.7ft) between the feeder and home Wi-Fi for a stable connection.

App Feature Descriptions

The Smart Life app provides comprehensive control over your pet feeder:

  • Cumulative number of feeding portions for the day: Displays the total portions fed.
  • Set up: Access Device Information and Share Device options.
  • Slow Feeding Mode: When enabled, 1 portion of food is dispensed every 1 minute interval (active only during scheduled feedings).
  • HD Live View: Click to enter and view the camera's live feed.
  • Manual Feeding: Dispense up to 12 portions per click.
  • Feeding Schedule: Set up daily feeding schedules for up to 20 meals. Ensure the correct date is selected when setting.
  • Feed Record: View feeding history.

The app interface shows controls for screenshots, screen recording, gallery access, full screen view, volume adjustment, playback, two-way audio, private mode, night vision, voice output, voice recording, and manual feeding.

HD Live View Functions

When viewing the live feed:

  • 1. Screenshot: Take a screenshot, saved to the Gallery.
  • 2. Screen Record: Click to start recording video, click again to stop.
  • 3. Gallery: View saved screenshots and videos. Files can be processed in batches.
  • 4. Full Screen: View the feed in full screen.
  • 5. Volume: Adjust the feeder's sound playback volume.
  • 6. Playback: Review past video footage using a TF card or cloud storage.
  • 7. Two Way Audio: Enable two-way intercom by clicking the microphone icon. Click again to turn off.
  • 8. Private Mode: Turn off the camera's recording function.
  • 9. Night Vision: Activate infrared night vision.
  • 10. Voice: Turn off the device speaker.
  • 11. Voice Record: Enable recording mode. Move close to the feeder to record; maximum recording time is 10 seconds.
  • 12. Manual Feeding: Dispense up to 12 portions per click.

Communication Modes & Cleaning

One-Way Communication (Default Mode)

Hold the talk button to speak, release to end the talk.

Two-Way Talk

Click the button to talk. Click again to end the call.

Disassemble for Cleaning

Regular cleaning is recommended for your pet's health. The washable parts include the lid, food tank, meal splitter, stainless steel feeding bowls, and bowl trays. Do not wash the feeder base, power adapter, or USB cable.

FAQ

Can't connect the feeder to WiFi.

  1. Ensure Bluetooth, WLAN, and GPS are turned on your phone during connection. (Can be turned off after successful connection).
  2. Try alternative connection methods.
  3. The WiFi network may be unstable; attempt to connect multiple times.
  4. Connect the device near the router (ideally within 3 meters).
  5. Consider switching to a 2.4G network connection.
  6. Troubleshoot your router (e.g., try rebooting it).
  7. Contact Frienhund support via the contact form for assistance.

The WiFi connection goes off line frequently.

  1. Ensure the feeder has a good signal within the WiFi coverage area.
  2. Check that the power cord is stably connected.

The feeder's camera can't read the QR code on your phone.

  1. Ensure the indicator light on the feeder is blinking blue.
  2. Try connecting using another connection method provided by the APP.
  3. Align the QR code in the APP with the camera by moving back and forth at the same height.

Live video not showing.

  1. Reconnect the feeder.
  2. Ensure the power cord is intact.
  3. Switch to a stronger WiFi signal.
  4. If the network is poor, change the video quality from HD to SD (standard definition).

Where are the photos and videos stored?

They are stored in the Gallery section of the Features function within the app.
