Important Information and Notes
CAUTION
Installation of the XZENT system should be performed by an authorized installer. Specific knowledge and tools are required. Incorrect installation can cause damage to the vehicle and the XZENT system. Correct functioning is guaranteed only when using XZENT original accessories. The XZENT system and original accessories must not be modified or altered in any way. Inappropriate actions can cause damage to the vehicle and the XZENT system.
NOTE
- The target vehicle must be equipped with a (Panasonic) 1-DIN DAB/FM OE radio. The XZENT system is not compatible with vehicles that have a factory OE navigation system.
- This installation manual applies to vehicle platforms listed in the compatibility list, as offered by the respective vehicle manufacturer. Deviating equipment and specific adjustments by motorhome manufacturers are not considered. For questions or vehicle-specific problems, contact the relevant motorhome manufacturer.
- The XZENT system features an integrated DAB+ receiver. The DAB+ and FM tuners connect directly to the vehicle's original rod antenna via an included adapter cable. Vehicles not listed may require a suitable DAB/FM roof antenna, which is not included.
- Original multifunction steering wheel controls of compatible vehicle models are supported by the XZENT system. No further accessories are required.
- Software updates for the XZENT system are installed using a USB storage device. Ensure the USB connection of the XZENT system remains accessible after installation (by installing a USB extension cable).
- For questions or problems regarding the XZENT system, please contact the dealer from whom the device was purchased.

Installation Steps
Removal Work and Preparation
- The 1-DIN DAB/FM factory radio must first be removed for the installation of the X-F285 device. Insert the release keys contained in the accessory set into the respective openings in the front panel of the 1-DIN factory radio.
- Press both keys gently, without force, until they reach their mechanical stop.
- Grab both unlocking keys and release the device with slight vertical up and down movements. Use the keys to pull the device out of the slot.
- Disconnect the plugs of the power/loudspeaker, antenna, and USB connector cables on the backside of the 1-DIN radio.
- Set the device aside. It is no longer needed in the further course of the installation of the X-F285 infotainer unit.
- Prepare the plugs of the cables from the vehicle as shown in the illustration.
Installation
- First, plug in the USB interface cable of the accessory set.
- Plug in the Fakra end of the antenna cable (No. 14) into the Fakra plug of the vehicle's antenna cable.
- Mount the GPS antenna in a suitable place, and ensure that the GPS reception is not adversely affected due to shadowing by metallic vehicle parts (e.g., thermal glazing). Route the connecting cable to the radio slot and connect it to the device.
- Connect the main wiring harness to the main connector of the vehicle.
- If you wish to use the external Bluetooth microphone supplied with the set, mount it now. Run the microphone cable to the radio slot. Depending on preference and your choice of an external or device-internal microphone, the microphone source for the Bluetooth mode must be changed in the device menu.
- Check the fit of the connectors. Make sure that the main connector is properly inserted.
- Now plug in the SWC/CAN interface (No. 13) into the connector provided on the main wiring harness. Stow away the SWC/CAN box at the top left corner of the slot. Put the cables out of the way in the slot; there is enough space on the left and right side.
- Connect all connectors of the cables on the backside of the device. Make sure all connectors are properly inserted.
- Hold the X-F285 device up in front of the slot and stow away cables. Insert the device into the 1-DIN slot and push it into the slot gently. Once the device body is completely inserted, reaching its end stop, wiggle the device up and down until it clicks into place.
Tip: To facilitate the routing of cables in the mounting slot, uninstalling the tablet holder above the installation opening provides direct access to the 1-DIN slot from above.
Notes on Installation
- Ensure that all connectors at the rear of the device have sufficient room and are not bent.
- The power supply for the original active antenna must be ensured. Pay particular attention that the P.ANT lead connectors of the main harness are connected together.
- Connectors without a retaining mechanism should be secured with fabric tape.
Commissioning
Ensure the vehicle is outdoors and that GPS reception is not adversely affected by any shadowing (trees, high buildings, etc.). Insert the separately purchased navigation software SD card into the SD card slot of the XZENT system and start it to establish a "Sat-Fix". Make sure the vehicle is not moved until the Sat-Fix is established. Press the NAV button to start the navigation mode and choose map view. Once your present location can be seen in the map view, the Sat-Fix will be automatically established. This can take 3 to 5 minutes. You can now use the XZENT system. Finally, carry out a general functional test and make the basic settings. Also, ensure that no fault warnings appear on the vehicle side.
