Everyday life at home puts high demands on sofas, sofa beds, and armchairs. IKEA sofas are rigorously tested to comply with strict standards for quality and durability, as well as the highest standards for domestic use. This means IKEA can offer a 10-year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship that covers frames and cushions of its sofas. This guarantee is subject to the terms and conditions stated in this folder.
How Long is the Guarantee Valid?
The guarantee for sofas remains in force for ten (10) years and is valid from the date of purchase. The guarantee is valid for Cyprus. Provided that IKEA care instructions are properly followed and that their use is domestic, the sofas' potential lifespan is fifteen (15) years. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase. The STOCKHOLM 2025 series is covered under a 25-year guarantee.
What is Covered Under This Guarantee?
The guarantee is valid from the original date of purchase of the product and if it has been purchased from an IKEA store in Cyprus. This guarantee applies to domestic use only and covers defects in material and workmanship in:

The guarantee is valid only for domestic use.
What Will IKEA Do to Correct the Problem?
IKEA will examine the product and decide, at its sole discretion, if it is covered under this guarantee. If considered covered, IKEA, through its own service operations, will then, at its sole discretion, either repair the defective product or replace it with the same or a comparable product. If it is covered by this guarantee, IKEA will pay the costs of repairs, spare parts, labour, and travel for repair staff that IKEA incurs, provided that the product is accessible for repair without special expenditure. This does not apply to any repair work not authorized by IKEA. Replaced parts become the property of IKEA. If the item is no longer sold by IKEA, IKEA will provide an appropriate replacement. It is IKEA that determines, at its sole discretion, what constitutes an appropriate replacement.
What is Not Covered Under This Guarantee?
This guarantee does not apply to products that have been stored, assembled, or installed incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered, or cleaned using the wrong cleaning methods or cleaning products.
This guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, cuts or scratches, or damage caused by impacts or accidents.
This guarantee does not apply if the product has been placed outdoors or in a humid environment.
This guarantee does not cover consequential or incidental damage.
Our Sofas and Armchairs Are Put to the Test
At IKEA, all sofas and armchairs are tested to ensure durability. For example, 100 kg weights are pushed onto the seat 50,000 times, and 30 kg weights onto the back just as many times. This process ensures that the frames retain their stability and the cushions their resilience and comfort. The guarantees provided are proof that IKEA sofas and armchairs can withstand frequent and long-term use, offering assurance to customers.
Care Instructions
Cushions need to be cared for to maintain their comfort. They should be plumped up on a regular basis, at least once a month. Cushions should also be alternated so that those used most often change places with those used less often.
Tighten the screws on the legs after two weeks of use, and check them a couple of times per year to ensure they remain tight.
Washable Covers
- Follow the care and cleaning instructions.
- Iron while still slightly damp.
- Refit the cover while it is still slightly damp. The cover stretches more easily when damp, making it easier and quicker to get it into the right shape. Note: It is important that the cover is not too damp when it is replaced on the frame.
Leather
- Vacuum regularly with a soft vacuum brush.
- Keep leather furniture out of direct sunlight and leave a gap of at least 30 cm (12 in) to any sources of heat to prevent the leather from drying out.
- Clean thoroughly once or twice a year using leather care products.
- Never clean with detergents.
- White or light-coloured leather furniture is sensitive to strong colours like red wine or coffee. For this reason, it is important to wipe spills immediately.
NOTE! STOCKHOLM Leather Sofa
Use with care and clean using the soft brush attachment on your vacuum. If needed, wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use leather care products. Read more in the care and advice instruction that comes with the product.
How Country, Provincial, and State Law Applies
This guarantee gives you specific legal rights, and is in addition to your statutory legal rights.
