The BRAYER BR4128 garment steamer is designed for the gentle smoothing of creases on clothing and interior textiles.

Description

The garment steamer consists of the following parts:

  • 1. Water tank
  • 2. Water inlet lid
  • 3. Steam supply button
  • 4. Operating surface with steam release openings
  • 5. Operation indicator
  • 6. Folding upper part of the body
  • 7. Handle
  • 8. Power cord
  • 9. Base
  • 10. Brush attachment

ATTENTION! For additional protection, it is recommended to install a residual current device (RCD) with a nominal operating current not exceeding 30 mA. Consult a specialist for RCD installation.

Safety Measures and Operation Recommendations

Read these instructions carefully before use and keep them for future reference.

  • Use the unit only for its intended purpose as described in this manual.
  • Improper handling may cause breakage, harm to the user, or damage to property, which is not covered by warranty.
  • Ensure the unit's operating voltage matches your home's mains voltage.
  • The power cord has a "euro-plug"; insert it into a grounded socket.
  • Do not use adapters to connect to the mains to prevent fire hazards.
  • Do not touch the unit, power cord, or plug with wet hands.
  • Do not operate the steamer with an empty water tank. Switch off and unplug when the tank is empty.
  • Never leave the unit connected to the mains unattended.
  • Do not use the unit outdoors or in bathrooms.
  • Avoid using the unit during lightning storms.
  • Protect the unit from impacts, falls, vibrations, and other mechanical stress.
  • Do not use near heating appliances, heat sources, or open flames.
  • Do not use near sinks, swimming pools, or other water containers.
  • If the unit falls into water, immediately unplug it before retrieving it. Contact an authorized service center for inspection or repair.
  • Do not use where aerosols are sprayed or near flammable liquids or their storage areas.
  • Place the steamer vertically on a flat, dry, moisture- and heat-resistant surface. Do not place horizontally or turn it over.
  • Use only the supplied attachment. Ensure it is properly set and fixed before use.
  • Hold the steamer vertically during operation; do not turn it over.
  • Fill the tank with water cleaned by a domestic filter. Do not use carbonated water or perfume additives.
  • Ensure the water level does not exceed the MAX mark. Overfilling may cause water to splash out.
  • Do not block or insert foreign objects into steam release openings.
  • The upper part of the steamer body gets hot during operation. Hold by the handle to avoid burns.
  • Avoid burns from hot steam.
  • Never steam clothes while they are being worn; always use a hanger.
  • Do not direct the steamer at people, animals, plants, furniture, electrical appliances, books, or other objects that could be damaged by hot steam. Maintain a distance of at least 20 cm from interior objects.
  • Do not use the power cord as a handle; carry the unit by its handle.
  • Unplug after use or before cleaning.
  • Switch off and unplug the power cord from the mains socket.
  • When unplugging, hold the plug and remove it carefully; do not pull the cord, as this can cause damage or a short circuit.
  • For child safety, do not leave packaging polyethylene bags unattended.
  • Attention! Do not allow children to play with polyethylene bags or packaging film. Danger of suffocation!
  • The unit is not intended for use by children.
  • Supervise children to prevent them from using the unit as a toy.
  • Do not allow children to touch the operating surface, body, power cord, or plug during operation.
  • Exercise extra caution if children or disabled persons are near the operating unit.
  • During operation and breaks, keep the unit out of reach of children.
  • The unit is not intended for usage by physically or mentally disabled persons (including children) or those lacking experience/knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person.
  • Periodically check the power cord for integrity.
  • If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service center, or qualified personnel.
  • Do not attempt self-repair or disassembly. If a malfunction occurs or the unit is dropped, unplug it and contact a service center.
  • Transport the unit in its original packaging to prevent damage.
  • Store the unit in a dry, cool place, out of reach of children and disabled persons.

Before First Use

After transportation or storage at negative temperatures, unpack the unit and wait at least 3 hours before use.

  • Unpack and remove all packaging materials.
  • Remove any protective film from the operating surface (4).
  • Keep the original packaging.
  • Read safety measures and operating recommendations.
  • Check the delivery set.
  • Inspect the unit for damage; do not plug it in if damaged.
  • Verify that the unit's voltage specifications match your mains voltage. No additional settings are needed for 60 Hz mains.
  • Wipe the steamer body with a slightly damp cloth and then dry it.

Garment Steamer Purpose

The garment steamer is used for smoothing folds on clothes or furniture.

  • For uncertain fabrics, follow the garment's care label.
  • If no information is available, test on the reverse side of the fabric.
  • When steaming delicate fabrics like silk or corduroy, maintain a distance from the fabric.
  • Use the brush attachment (10) to remove lint or threads.

Steamer Operation

Water Selection

  • Fill the water tank (1) with tap water. If tap water is hard, mix with distilled water 1:1. For very hard water, use a 1:2 ratio or only distilled water.
  • ATTENTION! Ensure the power cord (8) is unplugged before filling the tank (1).
  • Open the steamer by lifting the upper part of the body (6).
  • Open the water inlet lid (2). Fill the tank (1) up to the MAX mark and close the lid tightly (Fig. 1).
  • Do not pour carbonated water, perfumed additives, vinegar, or chemicals into the tank (1).

Operating the Steamer

  • ATTENTION! Do not plug in the steamer if the water tank (1) is empty.
  • Place the steamer on the base (9) on a stable, flat surface.
  • Plug the power cord (8) into the mains socket. The indicator (5) will light up. Wait 3-5 minutes for normal steam generation.
  • Hold the steamer by the handle (7) at the level of the steam supply button (3).
  • For continuous steam, press button (3) and slide it down until it stops (Fig. 2).
  • To stop continuous steam, press button (3) and slide it upwards.
  • Before first use, clean the steam chamber by directing steam onto a fabric (e.g., a kitchen towel).
  • If the tank (1) runs out of water during operation, switch off and unplug the power cord (8) before refilling.
  • After use, unplug the power cord (8) and let the steamer cool down.

Notes:

  • An initial slight smell upon first use is normal.
  • The steamer will automatically switch off after 8 minutes of continuous steam. The indicator (5) will flash. Press the steam supply button (3) again and wait for the operating surface (4) to heat up.

Using the Brush Attachment

  • ATTENTION! Ensure the power cord (8) is unplugged before installing the brush (10).
  • Install the brush attachment (10) onto the steamer.
  • Open the water inlet lid (2). Fill the tank (1) with water, not exceeding the MAX mark, and close the lid tightly (Fig. 1).
  • Do not pour carbonated water, perfumed additives, vinegar, or chemicals into the tank (1).
  • Place the steamer on the base (9) on a stable, flat surface.
  • Plug the power cord (8) into the mains socket. The indicator (5) will light up. Wait 3-5 minutes for normal steam generation.
  • Hold the steamer by the handle (7) at the level of the steam supply button (3).
  • Hang clothes on a hanger. Note: Do not steam clothes while worn due to high steam temperature; always use hangers.
  • To switch on continuous steam, press button (3) and slide it down until it stops (Fig. 2).
  • To switch off continuous steam, press button (3) and slide it upwards.
  • Slowly run the brush attachment (10) over the fabric, straightening it with your free hand.

Notes:

  • The steamer may automatically switch off after 8 minutes of steam supply. The indicator (5) will flash. Press the steam supply button (3) again and wait for the operating surface (4) to heat up.
  • Keep the steamer upright during operation; do not turn it over.
  • The upper part of the body (6) gets very hot during operation. Be careful not to touch the hot part of the body (6) or the operating surface (4).
  • Steamed garments may take time to dry; leave them on hangers.

Cleaning and Care

  • Unplug the power cord (8) and wait for the steamer to cool down completely.
  • Open the lid (2) and pour out any remaining water, then replace the lid (2).
  • Wipe the steamer body (6) and operating surface (4) with a slightly damp cloth, then dry.
  • Mineral deposits on the operating surface (4) can be removed with a cloth soaked in an aqueous vinegar solution.
  • Remove the brush attachment (10), rinse under running water, and dry it.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Do not immerse the steamer, power cord (8), or plug in water or other liquids.

Storage

  • Unplug the steamer and wait for it to cool down completely.
  • Clean the steamer.
  • For convenient storage, fold the upper part of the body (6) (Fig. 3).
  • Store in a dry, cool place, out of reach of children and disabled persons.
