Machine Overview

The machine consists of the following parts:

Connectivity

Get the App: Download the Nespresso app from the App Store or Google Play. Launch the app, select the machine icon, and follow the instructions.

Benefits of connecting your machine:

By default, Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® are switched on. Factory reset also switches them on.

Machine Set Up

  1. Rinse and dry all removable parts.
  2. Reassemble the machine.
  3. Fill the water tank with fresh potable water.
  4. Properly attach the water tank to the machine.
  5. Plug in the power cord and turn the machine on.
  6. Press the coffee button once.

Setting the Water Hardness

  1. Dip the water hardness strip briefly (1 second) in a container of potable water. Shake off excess water and compare results after 1 minute.
  2. Press and hold the Milk Temperature and Milk Texture buttons for 5 seconds.
  3. Set the hardness according to the result of the testing strip using the Milk Texture button and Milk Temperature button.
  4. Press the Steam Button to save and exit.

First Use / Rinse Cycle

WARNING: Make sure there is no capsule in the machine during the rinsing process.

  1. Place the 1 L container on top of the drip tray.
  2. Press the coffee button three times within 2 seconds. This process takes up to 7 minutes and can be stopped by pressing the coffee button.
  3. Fill the milk jug with potable water to the MAX line.
  4. Lift up the steam wand and insert it into the milk jug.
  5. Press and hold the Steam Button for 3 seconds.
  6. Once the cycle is complete, remove the milk jug. Wipe the steam wand with a clean damp cloth.
  7. Empty and rinse the milk jug, drip tray, and container.

NOTE: Do not put any parts except the steam wand tip in the dishwasher.

WARNING: HOT. Do not touch steam wand.

Coffee Preparation

  1. Fill the water tank with fresh potable water and place it back onto the machine.
  2. Press the Coffee Button to turn the machine ON.
  3. Unlock the coffee system.
  4. Open the coffee system.
  5. Insert a coffee capsule.
  6. Close and lock the coffee system.
  7. Adjust the height position of the cup support.
  8. Place a large enough cup under the coffee spout.
  9. Press the coffee button. To stop the coffee flow early, press the coffee button again.
  10. Once coffee preparation is complete, unlock the coffee system.
  11. Open the coffee system; the capsule will be ejected.
  12. Close the coffee system.

CAUTION: Risk of scalding may occur due to hot coffee overflowing.

Milk Coffee Preparation

  1. Fill the water tank with fresh potable water and place it back onto the machine.
  2. Pour your milk of choice into the milk jug. Refer to recipe suggestions for the ideal amount. Do not exceed the MAX line.
  3. Lift up the steam wand and insert it into the milk jug. Position the milk jug into the drip tray recess.
  4. Select Milk Temperature level and Milk Texture level.
  5. Press the Steam Button to start frothing.
  6. Unlock and open the coffee system.
  7. Insert a coffee capsule.
  8. Close and lock the coffee system.
  9. Adjust the height position of the cup support.
  10. Place a large enough cup under the coffee spout.
  11. Press the Coffee button twice (2x) for milk extraction. To stop the coffee extraction early, press the Coffee button.
  12. Once the coffee extraction and milk texturing are complete, remove the cup and milk jug from the machine.
  13. Wipe the steam wand with a clean, damp cloth.
  14. Pour the milk into the coffee.
  15. Unlock the coffee system.
  16. Open the coffee system; the capsule will be ejected.
  17. Close the coffee system.

NOTE: For an ideal milk froth, use semi-skimmed pasteurized milk at fridge temperature. You can use soy, almond, or oat drink. Adjust milk settings to suit your preference.

WARNING: The cleaning methods provided do not guarantee complete allergen removal. For allergies, do not use milk and plant-based drinks in the same machine.

NOTE: When making a latte macchiato, pour the textured milk into the glass, then position under coffee spout and press the Coffee button (2x) to start the extraction.

Daily Cleaning

  1. Wipe the steam wand with a clean damp cloth after each use.
  2. Wash and rinse the milk jug, drip tray, cup support, capsule container, and water tank.
  3. Wipe all parts dry.
  4. Reassemble the machine.

Cleaning the Coffee System

  1. Fill the water tank with fresh potable water and place it back onto the machine.
  2. Unlock the coffee system.
  3. Open it and eject the coffee capsule.
  4. Then close and lock the coffee system.
  5. Place a 1 L container under the coffee outlet.
  6. Turn the machine ON. Press the coffee button 3 times (within 2 seconds).
  7. The clean cycle can be interrupted by pressing the coffee button.
  8. Once the process is complete, wash the drip tray and capsule container in warm water with mild detergent.
  9. Dry with a clean damp cloth.

Cleaning the Steam Wand

  1. Remove the pin cleaning tool from under the water tank.
  2. Unscrew and remove the steam wand tip.
  3. Use the steam wand cleaning tool to clear each hole in the steam wand tip. The tip can be cleaned in a dishwasher.
  4. Use the pin cleaning tool to remove the steam tip cap.
  5. Rinse and wipe the steam wand tip and the cap.
  6. Reassemble the steam tip and return it onto the steam wand.
  7. Put the pin cleaning tool on the machine, located under the water tank.
  8. Fill the milk jug to the MAX line with fresh potable water.
  9. Lift and place the steam wand in the milk jug.
  10. Turn the machine ON. Press and hold the Steam Button for 3 seconds to start the clean cycle.
  11. Once complete, lift the steam wand and remove the jug.
  12. Empty the milk jug.
  13. Rinse the milk jug.

TIP: Before descaling, it is recommended to clean the steam wand tip. Refer to the instructions on the previous page.

NOTE: The descale and rinse cycle can be paused at any time by pressing the Steam button. To resume, press the Steam button again.

  1. Turn the machine ON. Open, close and turn the lever to the lock position.
  2. Empty the drip tray and the capsule container.
  3. Fill the water tank with potable water to the descale line, then add 2 units of Nespresso liquid.
  4. Place back onto the machine.
  5. Place at least a 2L container under the coffee outlet.
  6. Press the Steam Button and Milk Temperature button for > 5 seconds.
  7. Press the steam button to begin the steam and coffee descale cycle.
  8. Once the steam and coffee descale cycle is complete, remove, empty and rinse the water tank, container, and drip tray.
  9. Replace the drip tray and container.
  10. Press the Steam button to resume the rinse cycle.
  11. Once complete, remove, empty and rinse the water tank, container, and drip tray.

Reset to Factory Settings

THIS WILL RESET ALL PRE-PROGRAMMED VOLUMES, WATER HARDNESS SETTING, MILK TEMPERATURE AND MILK TEXTURE SETTINGS.

  1. Turn the machine ON. Press and hold the Milk Temperature button for 10 seconds. All lights will flash 5 times to indicate that the machine has been reset.

Turn the Bluetooth® / Wi-Fi® On-Off

  1. Unplug the machine and wait for at least 10 seconds.
  2. Place the handle into the unlocked position and open the coffee head.
  3. Press and hold the coffee button while plugging the machine in.

By default, the Bluetooth® / Wi-Fi® is switched on. Factory reset will also switch the Bluetooth®/ Wi-Fi® on.

Emptying the System

EMPTYING THE SYSTEM BEFORE A PERIOD OF NON-USE, FOR FROST PROTECTION OR BEFORE A REPAIR.

  1. Empty the water tank.
  2. Place back onto the machine.
  3. Place a container under the coffee outlet.
  4. Turn the machine ON. Unlock the coffee system.
  5. Open it and eject the coffee capsule.
  6. Then close and lock the coffee system.
  7. Press and hold the Steam button and Milk Texture button for 5 seconds. The machine will be cleared of liquid.
  8. Empty container, the drip tray and capsule container.
  9. The machine turns OFF automatically when machine is completely empty.

Troubleshooting

Problem: Buttons do not light up.

Possible Causes: The machine has turned “off” automatically.

Easy Solution: Push coffee or steam button to turn machine on. Check the mains, plug, voltage, and fuse.

Problem: No coffee.

Possible Causes: Check that the water tank is full. Check that a fresh capsule is inserted correctly, handle locked, and button pushed. Preheat cup with hot potable water.

Easy Solution: Descale if necessary. Open the machine head and eject the capsule. Perform cleaning. Descale if necessary.

Problem: Coffee is not hot enough.

Possible Causes: Check that the Coffee Lever is properly locked. If brewing coffee, check capsule insertion, handle lock, and button press.

Easy Solution: If cleaning, descaling, or emptying, ensure no capsule is present, then close, lock, and start operation. If problem persists, call Nespresso.

Problem: The machine doesn't start and the Coffee Button light is on and steady.

Possible Causes: Check that the water tank is full.

Easy Solution: Fill the water tank and press the coffee or steam button to restart.

Problem: The machine has stopped and the coffee or steam button blinks red continuously.

Possible Causes: Check that the water tank is full.

Easy Solution: Fill the water tank and push button to start.

Problem: Coffee light blinks while machine is running.

Possible Causes: If coffee is flowing normally, the machine is working properly. If only water is flowing, the machine is executing a cleaning, descaling, or emptying request.

Easy Solution: No action needed if coffee is flowing. If only water is flowing, wait for the process to complete or press the coffee button to stop.

Problem: Coffee light blinks and machine is not running.

Possible Causes: It will take time for coffee to flow (barcode reading). Check capsule insertion and handle lock. Fill water tank.

Easy Solution: Check capsule insertion, handle lock, and fill water tank. If problem persists, call Nespresso.

Problem: Machine is not running and Coffee Button light continuously displays 2 blinks Red and 1 pause.

Possible Causes: During Coffee/Espresso preparation: check capsule insertion, handle lock, water tank. During Descaling, Emptying and Cleaning: check capsule ejection, handle lock. During Programming Volume: check capsule insertion.

Easy Solution: Unlock handle, open machine head, replace capsule if needed. Disconnect power, wait 10 seconds, plug back in. Close head, press button to turn on, then press again to start brewing. If problem persists, call Nespresso.

Problem: Leakage or unusual coffee flow.

Possible Causes: Check that the water tank is correctly positioned.

Easy Solution: Ensure water tank is correctly positioned.

Problem: Machine enters standby.

Possible Causes: To save energy, the machine turns off after 2 minutes of non-use.

Problem: Coffee grounds in the cup.

Possible Causes: Perform the cleaning procedure twice.

Easy Solution: See Cleaning the coffee system section.

Problem: Coffee light on, but no light on milk side.

Possible Causes: Machine communication error.

Easy Solution: Unplug the machine, wait 10 seconds, plug in the machine, wait 10 seconds, press steam button.

Problem: Descale alert LED is blinking.

Possible Causes: Machine requires descaling for optimal performance.

Easy Solution: Descale the machine.

Problem: Descale alert LED is on and Steam does not work.

Possible Causes: Check water tank position. Check steam tip for blockages and ensure wand is lowered correctly. Check if coffee brew is in progress.

Easy Solution: Fill water tank. Complete a steam wand cleaning cycle. Complete a descale cycle.

Problem: Milk steam cycle does not start.

Possible Causes: Check water tank position. Check steam tip for blockages and ensure wand is lowered correctly. Check if coffee brew is in progress.

Easy Solution: Fill water tank. Complete a steam wand cleaning cycle. Complete a descale cycle.

Problem: Quality of froth not satisfactory.

Possible Causes: Use semi-skimmed UHT or pasteurized milk at refrigerated temperature (4-6°C / 39-43°F). Check milk froth setting.

Easy Solution: Use the milk jug provided and follow marked levels. Clean milk jug and steam wand after each use. Clean the steam wand. Ensure milk jug is correctly positioned.

Problem: Steam has excess water.

Possible Causes: Fill jug with appropriate milk volume.

Easy Solution: Reduce milk volume and/or froth level. Use cold, potable water. Do not use highly filtered, demineralised or distilled water.

Problem: Milk overflows.

Possible Causes: Fill jug with appropriate milk volume.

Easy Solution: Reduce milk volume and/or froth level.

Problem: Milk temperature is too hot.

Possible Causes: Use the milk jug provided. Check milk jug position and temperature sensor. Check temperature sensor in drip tray.

Easy Solution: Decrease the milk temperature setting.

Problem: Milk temperature is not hot enough.

Possible Causes: Preheat cup. Use the milk jug provided. Check milk jug position and temperature sensor.

Easy Solution: Increase the milk temperature setting. Check the steam tip for blockages.
