Safety Precautions

Connectivity (Vertuo Next Only)
The Vertuo Next model offers Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. To set up:
- Unplug the machine.
- Press and hold the button, then plug in the machine. Continue holding for 10 seconds.
- Operation completed.
Pairing:
- Download the Nespresso App from the App Store or Google Play.
- Launch the App on your smartphone or tablet.
- Click on the Machine icon within the app.
- Follow the on-screen instructions via the App to complete the pairing process.
The Vertuo System
The Vertuo system uses barcode technology to identify the capsule and adjust brewing parameters for the perfect cup every time. Available coffee sizes include:
- Espresso (40 ml / 1.35 fl oz.)
- Double Espresso (80 ml / 2.7 fl oz.)
- Gran Lungo (150 ml / 5.07 fl oz.)
- Coffee / Mug (230 ml / 7.77 fl oz.)
- Alto (414 ml / 14 fl oz.)
First Steps
- Rinse the water tank.
- Place a container under the coffee outlet.
Coffee Preparation
- Turn on your machine.
- Fill the water tank with fresh potable water.
- Turn on your machine.
- Press the button 3 times.
Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and taste. Follow these steps:
- Fill the water tank with fresh potable water.
- Open, close, and lock the machine head.
- Insert a capsule.
- Place a cup.
- Start brewing.
Descaling
Descaling removes mineral buildup and is essential for maintaining your machine's performance. Follow the descaling procedure specific to your model (Vertuo, Vertuo Plus, or Vertuo Next).
General Descaling Steps:
- Eject capsule.
- Empty capsules and water.
- Press the button 3 times within 2 seconds.
- Wash with hot water + mild odourless detergent.
- Dry with a clean and fresh towel.
- Add water + Nespresso descaling agent.
- Press and hold the button for 7 seconds.
- Lock, unlock and hold the button.
- Lock and press the button.
- Rinse water tank, fill with fresh potable water.
- Press the button.
- Exit descaling mode.

Troubleshooting

Energy Saving Mode
Your Nespresso machine is designed to save energy. It will automatically turn off after a period of inactivity.
- Vertuo Next: Auto OFF after 2 minutes.
- Vertuo / Vertuo Plus: Auto OFF after 9 minutes.
The machine can be turned off manually at any time by holding the button or lever for 3 seconds.
Personalize Your Coffee Size
You can program the coffee volume for each capsule type (Alto, Mug, Gran Lungo, Double Espresso, Espresso). The programmable range is from 20 ml to 500 ml.
- Fill the water tank with fresh potable water, insert a capsule, and place a cup.
- Press and hold the button until the desired quantity is reached.
- The new water volume is now programmed.
Reset to Factory Settings
To reset your machine to its original factory settings, follow these steps:
For Vertuo Plus:
- Push the lever down.
- Push the lever and press the button at the same time for 3 seconds.
For Vertuo / Vertuo Next:
- Open and close the machine head.
- Press the button 5 times within 3 seconds.
- The machine will reset to factory settings.
Emptying the System
Empty the system before a period of non-use, for frost protection, or before a repair.
- Empty water tank.
- Eject capsule, place a container.
- Unplug the machine.
- Empty and clean the machine.
- Start emptying the system.
- Close and lock the machine.
- Press and hold while plugging in.
- Turn the machine off.
