Why Pair Your Vertuo Machine?
Pairing your Vertuo Next or Vertuo Pop machine with the Nespresso app offers several benefits:
- Push notifications and on-screen troubleshooting for machine errors.
- Easy maintenance with step-by-step guidance for descaling, rinsing, and cleaning.
- Access to machine tutorials.
- Ensures your machine is always up to date.
Default Factory Setting: Bluetooth/Wi-Fi is ON.
Pairing Process:
- Download the Nespresso App: Available on the App Store and Google Play.
- Launch the App: Open the Nespresso app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Click the Machine Icon: Select the machine icon within the app.
- Follow Instructions: Follow the instructions provided via the app to complete the pairing.
Turning On/Off Bluetooth & Wi-Fi
To turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi ON or OFF:
- Unplug the machine.
- Press and hold the button while plugging the machine back in.
- The machine will indicate ON or OFF status.
Chapter 5: The Vertuo System

Coffee Types and Volumes
- Espresso: 40 ml / 1.35 fl oz.
- Double Espresso: 80 ml / 2.7 fl oz.
- Gran Lungo: 150 ml / 5.07 fl oz.
- Coffee / Mug: 230 ml / 7.77 fl oz.
- Carafe: 535 ml / 18 fl oz.
Chapter 6: First Steps
- Rinse the water tank: Rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh potable water. The capacity is 1L / 34 fl oz.
- Place a container: Place a container under the coffee outlet.
- Turn on your machine.
- Press the button 3 times within 2 seconds.
- Rinsing Procedure: The machine will start rinsing. This may take up to 7 minutes.
- Machine Ready: Your machine is now ready to use.
Chapter 7: Coffee Preparation
- Turn on your machine.
- Fill the water tank: Fill the water tank with fresh potable water.
- Insert a capsule: Insert the capsule into the machine.
- Place a cup: Place a cup under the coffee outlet.
- Start brewing: Begin the coffee extraction process.
Chapter 8: Cleaning
- Fill the water tank: Fill with fresh potable water.
- Open, close, and lock: Operate the machine's head mechanism.
- Press the button 3 times within 2 seconds.
- Wash: Wash with hot water and a mild, odorless detergent.
- Dry: Dry with a clean and fresh towel.
NOTE: The cleaning procedure can be stopped at any time by pressing the button.

Descaling ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Nespresso machine. Visit www.nespresso.com/descaling for more information.
- Eject capsule: Remove any used capsule.
- Empty capsules and liquid: Empty the drip tray and capsule container.
- Add water + Nespresso descaling agent: Fill the water tank with fresh water and the Nespresso descaling solution. (Note: Nespresso descaling solution may not be available in all regions; use clean water if unavailable).
- Place a container: Place a container under the coffee outlet (minimum 0.5L / 17 fl oz capacity).
- Press and hold the button for 7 seconds (for Vertuo Next/Pop).
- Lock, unlock, and hold the button for 7 seconds (for Vertuo Next/Pop).
- Lock and press the button (for Vertuo Next/Pop).
- Rinse water tank, fill with fresh potable water.
- Press the button.
- The descaling process is complete when the button stops blinking rapidly.
For Vertuo Plus: Specific descaling steps involve pushing the lever down and pressing buttons in sequence.

Chapter 11: Troubleshooting

- No light on the button: Machine is OFF. Check power connection.
- No coffee, no water: Check water tank, capsule insertion, and lock. Descale if needed.
- Coffee not hot enough: Preheat cup, descale if necessary.
- Leakage or unusual coffee flow: Check water tank positioning.
- Machine turns to "OFF mode": Energy saving feature; turns off after 2 minutes of non-use.
- Coffee grounds in the cup: Perform cleaning procedure twice.
- Machine doesn't start (steady light): Ensure handle is locked. Check capsule insertion and lock.
- Machine doesn't start (blinking lights): Fill water tank, ensure handle is locked.
- Light blinks while machine is running: Indicates normal operation, cleaning, descaling, or emptying process.
- Light blinks and machine not running: May indicate a delay before coffee flow, or requires checking capsule, handle, and water tank. Resetting the machine or allowing it to cool down might be necessary.
- Alternating blinks (2 blinks, 1 pause): Check capsule insertion, handle lock, water tank, or refer to programming volume instructions. If problems persist, try power cycling or calling Nespresso.
- Alternating blinks (3 times): Indicates descaling is needed.
- Coffee leakage (Vertuo Plus): Check head, cup support, and descale if necessary.
