Control Panel
The control panel features indicators and buttons for operating the air purifier:
Indicators:
- 01. Auto Indicator: Shows if Auto Mode is enabled/disabled.

- 03. PlasmaWave® Indicator: Shows if PlasmaWave® is enabled/disabled.

Buttons:
- 09. Power Button: Turns the unit on or off. The Air Quality Indicator cycles through colors during startup, and the Smart Sensor takes about 4 minutes to calibrate.
- 10. Mode Button: Cycles through operation modes: Auto (default, adjusts fan speed based on air quality) and Sleep (disables indicator lights, sets to minimum fan speed, disables PlasmaWave® by default).
- 11. PlasmaWave® Button: Enables or disables the PlasmaWave® feature. A chirping or buzzing sound during operation is normal and indicates particles passing through PlasmaWave®.
- 12. Air Quality Indicator: Color-coded light shows air quality: Red (poor), Amber (fair), Blue (good).
- 13. Fan Speed Button: Manually sets fan speed to Low, Medium, High, or Turbo.
- 14. Timer Button: Sets operation timer for 1hr, 4hr, 8hr, or [NO TIMER].
- 15. Filter Reset Button: Press and hold for 5 seconds after filter replacement to reset the indicator.
3-Stage Air Purification
The Winix C535 utilizes a three-stage purification system, plus PlasmaWave® technology:
- 01. Pre-Filter: Captures larger airborne particles like dust and pet hair.
- 02. Activated Carbon Filter: Adsorbs odors, smoke, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- 03. True HEPA Filter: Captures 99.97% of airborne allergens, dust mites, mold spores, and other microscopic particles as small as 0.3 microns.
- PlasmaWave®: An optional feature that creates hydroxyls to help neutralize airborne viruses, bacteria, and gases.
Where to Use
Proper placement ensures optimal performance and prevents malfunction:
- Clearance: Allow 12-18 inches (approx. 30-45 cm) of space around the unit, including from walls, furniture, and other electronics to ensure maximum airflow.
- Environment: Place indoors away from direct sunlight. Direct exposure can cause malfunction or failure.
- Surface: Position only on hard, flat surfaces. Flimsy or slanted surfaces may cause abnormal noise and vibrations.
- Avoid: Do not place in excessively humid areas, near heating elements, industrial oil mist, metallic dust, flammable materials, or in motor/transport vehicles.
Initial Operation
Follow these steps to set up your air purifier:
- Remove the front panel by gently pulling it forward from the upper edge.
- Remove the Pre-Filter, then the plastic bag containing the other filters.
- Carefully remove the filters from their protective plastic bags.
- Install the filters securely in the correct order: Pre-Filter (front), Activated Carbon Filter (middle), True HEPA Filter (back).
- Close the front panel.
- Insert the power cord into an electrical outlet.
Remote Control
The remote control operates within a 20-foot radius and includes the following buttons:
- (A) Power: Turns the unit on or off.
- (B) Auto: Activates Auto Mode.
- (C) Fan Speed: Manually adjusts fan speed.
- (D) Turbo: Sets fan speed directly to Turbo.
How to Replace Remote Battery:
- Flip the remote over and open the battery tray by pinching the lever and pulling the tray out.
- Insert a new CR2025 battery, ensuring correct polarity ([+] and [-] match the tray markings).
- Close the battery tray until it clicks securely into place.
Keep used batteries in a safe place. The remote uses a CR2025 battery.
WARNING: Keep batteries away from children. This product contains a lithium button/coin cell battery. If swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns and death in as little as 2 hours. Seek immediate medical attention. In French: "Cet article contient une pile bouton. De graves blessures ou la mort pourraient suivre dans les deux heures suivant l'ingestion. Demander l'aide de professionnels de la santé sur le champ." Always secure the battery compartment. If it does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children. Dispose of batteries properly.

Cleaning Care:
Cleaning the Filters:
- Use a vacuum cleaner or soft brush to clean the Pre-Filter.
- If excessively soiled, rinse in room temperature water. Do not use detergent or soap.
- Allow the Pre-Filter to dry completely (24 hours or more) before use.
- Do not use hot water over 104°F (40°C).
Cleaning the Exterior & Interior:
- Open the front panel and clean the interior with a vacuum cleaner (handheld or hose attachment recommended).
- Dampen a cloth with room temperature water and wipe down the interior and exterior of the unit.
- Wipe the unit with a clean, dry cloth. Ensure no moisture remains before plugging it back in.
For optimal performance, clean the unit every 1-2 months.
Filter Reset:
After replacing the True HEPA and Activated Carbon Filters, close the front panel. With the unit on, press and hold the Filter Reset Button for at least 5 seconds until you hear a beep. The Filter Replacement Indicator will then disappear.

- Keep away from products that generate oily residue (e.g., deep fryers).
- Do not use detergent to clean the unit.
- Do not operate without a filter.
- Do not wash and reuse the True HEPA Filter and Carbon Filter.
- Hold the unit by the handle on the back for transport; do not hold by the front panel.
- Do not insert small objects into air outlet vents or the fan.
- Do not use benzene, paint thinner, or spray insecticides on the unit.
- The unit will not remove carbon monoxide from heating appliances.
- Unplugging the product disconnects remote functions.
