Preparations
- Install the driver for the CIU-3/CIU-2 onto your PC.
A diagram shows a PC connected to a CIU-3 or CIU-2 via a USB port.
- When the CIU-3 is first connected to the PC, download the recommended driver software. Using Windows Vista, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" window appears on the screen. Click "Locate and install driver software".
- When the CIU-2 is first connected to the PC, the “Found New Hardware Wizard” window appears on the screen. Install the drivers downloaded from your local Futaba Dealer's Website.
- Refer to the manual of the CIU-3/CIU-2 for further information.
Updating procedure
Note: If the battery fully discharges during program updating, updating will fail. When the remaining battery capacity is 50% or less, always recharge the battery before updating.
- Download the zip file of the update data from our website or your local distributor's website: http://www.rc.futaba.co.jp
- Extract the zip file on your computer. The extracted files typically include:
fast_update.exe
,T6K_Vx_xxx_CIU3.bin
, andUpdate.exe
. These are the CIU-3 executable file, update program, and CIU-2 executable file respectively. - Connect as shown in the figure. A diagram illustrates the connection: T6K transmitter connected via S.I/F Port to a DSC cord or CIU-3/CIU-2, which is then connected to a PC via USB.
Update Process
For CIU-3:
- Turn on the transmitter power while pressing down the "END" and "+" buttons. The screen should display "CIU-3 READY (FACTORY3)".
For CIU-2:
- Turn on the transmitter power while pressing down the "END" button. The screen should display "CIU-2 UPDATE READY".
On the PC:
- Start an executable file by a PC. Double-click
Update.exe
(for CIU-2) orfast_update.exe
(for CIU-3). - In the update window, click "WRITE".
- Confirm the update by clicking "OK" when prompted "T6K will be updated. Are you sure?".
- The update process will show "Now writing...". Wait for about 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Do not turn off the power during this process.
- Once the update is complete, a success message will appear on the PC screen. Click "OK" to shut down the update software.
- Turn off the power switch of your T6K and remove the CIU-3/CIU-2.
Checking the Software Version
- Check the software version at [TX SETTING].
- Turn off the power and then turn on the power while pressing the "+" key and "-" key simultaneously. The screen will display the TX SETTING with the version information.
- Be sure to check each function before use.
Error Handling
If an error display appeared, redo the update from the beginning.
Error Example: A PC screen shows an error message "No product is connected." A T6K screen shows "UPDATE TYPE MISSMATCH".
Important Safety Note: Do not disconnect or remove the battery from the transmitter during the update. It is possible that the transmitter can be damaged if the battery is unplugged during the update.
If an update fails:
- Detach the battery from the transmitter.
- Attach the battery to the transmitter while pressing down the "END" button.
- The update will start.
Even after the above steps, if the transmitter fails to update or does not start, please have it serviced.
T6K Software Update Changes
Version 3.05
- Fixed a bug that the gyro function does not work when throttle cut is enabled.
Version 3.04
- Fixed a display problem on the P.MIX screen.
Version 3.0
This software updates or alters the functions and features noted below. These instructions supplement the original instruction manual. Please refer to the original manual where applicable, but replace steps with these instructions. The software update is finalized the first time the T6K is powered up after the software has been applied.
- Glider: Addition of the 2AIL-B to the wing type
A diagram shows the configuration for 2AIL and 2AIL-B wing types. The 2AIL-B is for non-powered gliders only; engine and motor functions cannot be used. - Model transfer
Do not transfer model data of 2AIL-B to the old version T6K. It will cause malfunction. The model data transfer must be performed between T6K Ver.3.
T6K Software Update Changes (Version: 2.0)
This software updates or alters the functions and features noted below. These instructions supplement the original instruction manual.
- Addition of the channel 7 and channel 8
The previous T6K was a 6ch TX. 7-8 channels were added in V2.0. Note: R3006SB does not have 7-8 channels ports. When using 7-8 channels, use an S.BUS/S.BUS2 function. Diagrams illustrate connections for multicopters and airplanes using R3006SB receivers, showing servo connections and S.BUS2 ports. - Select the switch or volume of CH7-8
Options include AUX CH, CH5 SWD, CH6 NUL, CH7 NUL, CH8 NUL, and VR. These can be assigned to switches A, B, C, or D. - 7-8 channel is added to each menu.
- SUB trim, Reverse, Servo, End point, Fail safe, Trainer
Tables and diagrams show the settings for these functions, indicating channel assignments (e.g., 1:AIL, 2:ELE) and values. - Addition of a system version display
Additional display indicates the version numbers of the [TX SETTING]. To check, turn on the power switch with the '+' and '-' keys pressed. - Addition of the timer vibrator indication of the timer
When the time is reached, the vibrator motor will turn on. The type of vibration can be selected by the user. Diagrams show timer settings and examples of use.
T6K Software Update Changes (Version: 2.0)
This software updates or alters the functions and features noted below. These instructions supplement the original instruction manual.
- Addition of the MATRIX type of flight modes (Multicopter type only)
5 flight modes can be set to PRIORITY type. 9 flight modes can be set to MATRIX type. Diagrams illustrate PRIORITY TYPE and MATRIX TYPE settings, including flight mode configurations and camera tilt control rate adjustments using switches. - Addition of the current sensor and voltage sensor function
Compatible with the SBS-01C (current sensor) and SBS-01V (voltage sensor). Diagrams show current, voltage, and capacity setting screens with options for alarm, vibration, and speech functions. The SBS-01C can monitor current, voltage, and consumption. The SBS-01V can monitor voltage. Solder welding is required for instruction.
T6K SOFTWARE UPDATE CHANGES 2 (Version: 2.0)
This software updates or alters the functions and features noted below. These instructions supplement the original instruction manual.
- Addition of the INT Timer
The previous Timer MODE was (UP) / (DOWN) / (DN-STP). (UP-TH-INT) / (DN-TH-INT) were added in V2.0.
Integration Timer (UP-TH-INT, DN-TH-INT)
INT (integration) Timer is a function that changes the progress of a timer according to the throttle stick position. When the throttle stick is raised, the timer speed usually increases. At mid-range throttle, the timer speed decreases (by 50%). At low throttle, the timer progress stops. This can be set to fit the power consumption of your fuselage.
Alarm (Vib)
The integration Timer audible alarm indicates the time by a beep from 10% and 0% before the set time.
*The consumption of the battery/fuel is different depending on the conditions, so use an INT Timer as reference.*
*The INT (integration) time is different from the actual elapsed time.*
Diagrams illustrate the relationship between throttle stick position and timer speed, and show how the timer is displayed on the home screen. Examples of timer settings are provided.
