6. Add Camera to App
6.1 About the SIM Card
The camera includes a built-in 4G SIM card compatible with major operators like Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T. This dedicated IoT SIM card is designed specifically for the camera, eliminating the need for a separate SIM card purchase. It supports 4G networks of most major operators, automatically selecting the strongest signal for connectivity, and allows for easy 4G data subscription through the mobile app. The monthly data plan offers unlimited data.
NOTE: This SIM card is exclusively for use with this camera and cannot be removed or used in other devices.
6.2 Adding Methods
Method 1: Quick Add (Recommended)
- Move the camera and smartphone to a location with a smooth 4G network and no signal interference.
- Open the ZUMIMALL application and tap 'Scan Code'.
- Locate the QR code on the camera casing (on the label paper) and scan it using your mobile phone lens.
Note: If the app prompts to turn on the camera and the indicator light is flashing, ignore the prompt and proceed by clicking 'Next'.
After scanning, observe the indicator light status:
- Flashing blue: Select 'Blue Light Flashing' and proceed to step 5.
- Flashing red: Continue to wait.
- Flashing red and blue: Click 'Red and blue lights flashing' to diagnose the issue. It is recommended to reset the camera and reconfigure it, or contact the brand's after-sales email for assistance.
Enter the configuration page; the camera will connect to the smartphone. Upon successful connection, the application will redirect to the device 'Create' page where you can name the camera and click 'Finish'.
Method 2: Manual Add
The manual add process involves several steps within the ZUMIMALL app:
- Tap 'Add Device' on the home screen.
- Select the camera type (e.g., 4G camera).
- If the QR code cannot be found, follow the on-screen prompts.
- Turn on the camera by holding the power button. Ensure it has sufficient power. The indicator light status will show connection progress (e.g., blinking red light for connection start, blue light not flashing, or slowly flashing blue).
- Prepare for scanning by following the operation instructions.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the device at a distance of 5-8 inches. A tone will confirm a successful scan.
- The app will then guide through connecting the device, naming it, and viewing installation tips.

6.3 Add failed?
Troubleshooting common issues:
- Wait for connection timeout (Indicator light off): If the network is not configured for a long time, the device may automatically sleep. Press and hold the power button to restart the camera and try adding it again.
- No LTE signal (Red light keeps flashing): This may indicate a SIM card without a cellular data plan or a poor 4G network. Ensure the 4G signal is strong and free from interference. Try positioning the camera antenna upright or moving the camera to a different location. Verify that the data plan for the camera SIM card is active. Contact the brand's after-sales email with the camera's SN number for further assistance.
NOTE: If multiple attempts to add the camera fail, contact the brand's customer service.
7. Camera Installation
7.1 Installation Preparation
- Surface Selection: Choose a clean, smooth, and dry surface for mounting the bracket. Avoid uneven surfaces like wood veneer or plaster walls.
- Bracket Mounting: Use the provided positioning stickers and screws to securely attach the bracket to the wall.
Installation Notes:
- Avoid Strong Lights: Do not face the camera towards strong lights, mirrors, or windows, as this can affect image quality.
- Minimize Interference: Keep the camera away from electrical outlets, air conditioner vents, humidifiers, and heat vents.
- Maintain Distance: Position the camera at least 1 meter away from other wireless devices (e.g., microwaves, Wi-Fi routers) to prevent signal interference.
- Removal: To detach the camera from the wall mount, press the snap position under the bracket and pull the camera out.
7.2 Mounting Position and Angle
- Location: Ensure the camera is unobstructed and within Wi-Fi coverage.
- Mounting: Select an appropriate position on the wall for mounting. The camera can be mounted indoors or outdoors.
- Angle for Motion Detection:
- Aim the camera to cover the lower two-thirds of the field of view, which is most sensitive to motion.
- For close monitoring (e.g., front door), mount the camera 7-10 feet (2-3 meters) high. This helps focus on closer objects and reduces false alerts.
- For distant monitoring (e.g., yard), mount the camera higher to cover the lower two-thirds of the view.
7.3 Best Practices for Motion Detection
- Motion Path: Position the camera so that motion moves side-to-side across its view rather than directly toward or away from it.
- Detection Range: Optimal motion detection occurs within 5 to 20 feet (1.5 to 6 meters), though it can detect motion up to 33 feet (10 meters).
8. Solar Panel Installation
8.1 Installation Steps
- Use a power drill and two screws to fix the camera bracket on the wall. Align the screw cap of the bracket with the screw hole on the back of the solar panel and rotate clockwise to secure it.
- Adjust the solar panel angle according to the environment, ensuring the front of the panel faces upwards. A 45° angle is recommended for optimal inclination.
- Unplug the rubber plug on the camera's charging port, insert the solar panel's charging head through the rubber plug, and then connect it to the camera's charging port.
- For better waterproof performance, ensure the charging port is completely covered by the rubber plug.
8.2 Installation Location
- Find a location that receives sunlight for most of the day to maximize exposure.
- The solar panel requires several hours of direct sunlight to convert solar energy into electricity. Conversion efficiency is influenced by weather, seasonal changes, and geographic locations.
8.3 Installation Angle
- Ensure the solar panel is angled to receive direct sunlight.
- Avoid installing the solar panel completely horizontally to prevent dust and debris accumulation. Installing at an angle is advised for optimal sunlight exposure. The ideal angle is approximately the local latitude ± 5°.
8.4 Installation Precautions
- Ensure no obstructions block the solar panel, as even partial blockage significantly reduces energy harvesting efficiency.
- Regularly clean the solar panel surface to remove dust and debris.

10. PIR Motion Detection
10.1 Motion Detection Alarm Setting
Adjust motion detection sensitivity from 1 to 10. Higher sensitivity increases the detection range but may lead to faster battery drain.
Sensitivity and Detecting Distance:
Sensitivity | Detecting Distance |
---|---|
1-3 | 3.3-10ft (1-3m) |
4-7 | 13-23ft (4-7m) |
8-10 | 26-33ft (8-10m) |
Troubleshooting Motion Detection Issues:
- Frequent alarm messages: Reduce sensitivity, enable humanoid detection, set the alarm area, or avoid facing the camera towards busy roads or crowded places.
- No moving objects in alarm picture: Reduce motion detection sensitivity or enable humanoid detection.
- Someone passed by without alarms: Check message push permissions, increase motion detection sensitivity, or prevent intruders from walking vertically to the camera.
- Frequent leakage alarms at night: Ensure night image quality is normal and consider turning off 'Night Humanoid Check'.
- Mobile alarm is not timely/delayed: Increase motion detection sensitivity, avoid intruders walking vertically to the camera, and check the network connection of both the camera and the phone.
10.2 Alarm Notification
- Recording Type: The camera supports event-triggered recording only, not continuous 24/7 recording.
- System Reactions: Receive sound alerts via the app. Pictures and videos are saved to the micro SD card or cloud storage.
10.3 Record/Playback/Delete
- View Records: Navigate to the 'MESSAGES' page and tap 'Alarm Messages' to see all recorded events.
- Playback/Delete: Use the provided buttons to play back or delete recordings.
- Save/Share: Screenshots and manually recorded videos can be saved in 'Pictures & Videos' and shared directly.
11. Storage Instructions
- Manual Storage: Start or stop recording manually via the 'Record' button on the live video feed. Recordings are stored in the app's album. Exiting the live view stops recording automatically.
- Memory Card: The camera supports micro SD cards (not included) up to 128GB. It records continuously and overwrites the oldest recordings when the card is full.
- Data Plan and Basic Cloud Storage: A subscription is required for 'Basic Cloud Storage'. Cloud storage activates automatically after payment processing. Data plans and cloud storage are more cost-effective when purchased together.
NOTE: If the wrong cloud plan is selected, contact customer support via the app's Help section.
12. Power Saving Settings
12.1 Alarm Interval
This feature helps prevent repeated alarms for the same event by setting a time interval. If an interval of 5 minutes is set, and an event occurs at 08:00, an alarm will be sent, but no further notifications will be sent within the next 5 minutes, even if motion continues. This function is off by default and can be enabled as needed.
12.2 Recording Time
Users can set different recording lengths. For example, a 10-second recording time will capture a 10-second video clip of an event, viewable in the history or cloud playback.
12.3 Alarm Plan
Set a weekly or daily alarm schedule. For instance, the camera can be configured to trigger and record alarm video only during specific working hours (e.g., 0:00 to 1:00). Up to 4 time periods can be set for the alarm schedule.
12.4 Battery Management
Battery Life and Safety Instructions: The camera is designed for event-based recording viewable remotely, not for continuous 24/7 operation.
Reasons for Short Battery Life and Solutions:
- Frequent PIR sensor triggers: Reduce motion detection sensitivity, enable humanoid detection, set the alarm area, or avoid facing the camera towards busy roads/crowded places.
- Frequent/long-term remote viewing: Reduce the frequency and duration of remote video viewing.
- Poor network: Ensure good 4G network signal by avoiding signal interference and moving the camera to a location with a better signal.
- Low temperature/cold weather: Reduce motion detection sensitivity, enable humanoid detection, set the alarm area, and reduce the camera's working time.
- Inefficient solar charging: Ensure the solar panel receives sufficient sunlight, check for panel faults, regularly clean the panel surface, and verify the charging port is not faulty or has poor contact.
- Camera consumes power faster than solar charging: Refer to the solutions above.
NOTE: If battery life issues persist, contact the brand's after-sales email.
Battery Safety Instructions:
- If the battery is low, remove the camera and charge it indoors using a 5V power adapter before reinstalling.
- Do not use sharp tools to damage the battery, as this can cause failure.
