Installation
RBCN1-SHS Single Handle Tub & Shower Faucet
Exploded Drawing: The diagram shows the main components: 1. Shower head assembly, 2. Rough-in valve, 3. Cartridge, 4. Handle assembly.
Product Technical Sheet:
No. | Description | Qty |
---|---|---|
1 | CH1E/C2K-1S4TNOPPT | 1 |
2 | CARTRIDGE | 1 |
3 | HANDLE ASSEMBLY | 1 |
Dimensions: The diagram displays overall dimensions with specific measurements for various parts, including a 1/2-14NPT connection.
Installation Steps:
- Marking: Use a level, tape measure, and pencil to mark the location for drilling holes for the handle and shower head. The diagram shows recommended vertical and horizontal placement ranges, with specific minimum and maximum distances from the wall for the handle and shower head.
- Rough-in Valve Installation: Install the rough-in valve body so the front of the plastic cover is flush with the wall. Account for the depth of any tile to be placed on the wall.
- Water Connections: Water connections can be threaded or soldered. If using threaded connections, apply thread sealant or plumber's tape in a clockwise direction. The diagram illustrates pipe lengths and distances from the wall for hot and cold water lines.
- Soldering Preparation: If soldering connections, cartridges must be removed prior to soldering to avoid damage from heat.
- Tub Faucet Connection (if applicable): If a tub faucet is used, remove the cap from the bottom connection of the rough-in valve body. Attach a 5/8" (16 mm) diameter pipe to the water line, ensuring it protrudes through the finished wall for the tub filler connection. If the pipe joint is threaded, apply Teflon tape clockwise.
- Flushing the System: After connecting water supply lines, flush the system for at least 1 minute. Turn on hot and cold water supply and operate the handle to flush out contaminants. This step is crucial to prevent clogging.
- Cartridge Installation: Ensure the cartridge base is clear of debris. Install the cartridge, noting the position of the locating pins. Reinstall the cover and tighten to the specified torque: 7.3-8.8 lb (3.4-4.0 kg).
- Temperature Limiter Adjustment: Remove the plastic limiter ring and rotate it to adjust the flow. Rotate counterclockwise for more hot flow and clockwise to reduce hot flow. Test the maximum hot water temperature with a thermometer, recommending no higher than 120 °F (49 °C) for safety.
- Faceplate and Handle Installation: Install the faceplate onto the rough-in valve assembly using the provided screws. Use silicone or caulking around the edge after installation to ensure a seal. Install the handle in the off position and secure it with the set screw and Allen wrench. Seal the seam between the tub filler and the wall with silicone.
- Shower Head Installation: Install the shower head to the threaded connection pipe. Apply Teflon tape in a clockwise direction to prevent leaks.
RBCN2-SHS Single Handle Tub & Shower Faucet
Exploded Drawing: The diagram shows the main components: 1. Shower head assembly, 2. Rough-in valve, 3. Cartridge, 4. Handle assembly.
Product Technical Sheet:
No. | Description | Qty |
---|---|---|
1 | HANDLE ASSEMBLY | 1 |
2 | SHANK | 1 |
3 | HOSE | 1 |
4 | SHANK | 1 |
5 | AERATOR | 1 |
Dimensions: The diagram displays overall dimensions with specific measurements for various parts, including a 1/2-14NPT connection.
Installation Steps: The installation steps for the RBCN2-SHS model are similar to the RBCN1-SHS, involving marking, rough-in valve installation, water connections, cartridge installation, temperature adjustment, faceplate, handle, and shower head installation. Specific diagrams and measurements are provided for this model as well, detailing pipe lengths, wall distances, and torque specifications.
Note: Detailed step-by-step instructions with diagrams for RBCN2-SHS follow the same principles as RBCN1-SHS, focusing on component placement, water line connection, cartridge seating, and final assembly. Refer to the specific diagrams for precise measurements and orientations.
