Important Safety Instructions
Operating Conditions: This device is designed for indoor use only. Protect it from moisture and dampness.
Danger: Electric Shock: Handle mains voltage with extreme care. Touching live wires can cause a dangerous electric shock.
Intended Use: The EDX-4 is a 4-channel dimmer for controlling LED lamps via DMX signal from a light console. It is designed for professional event technology applications, not household lighting. Use only as described in this manual; failure to do so voids the warranty and Eurolite assumes no liability for resulting damage or personal injury.
Danger due to Electricity:
- Use only indoors. Never expose to rain or moisture.
- Do not open the device; there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
- Connect only to a properly installed mains outlet matching the device's voltage and frequency, protected by an RCD. Ensure the protective earth connection is maintained.
- The mains outlet must be easily accessible for quick unplugging.
- Never touch the mains plug with wet hands.
- Protect the mains cable from kinking, crushing, heat, and sharp edges.
- Always pull the plug, not the cable, to disconnect from the mains.
- Unplug during thunderstorms, long periods of non-use, or before cleaning.
- Avoid high temperatures, direct sunlight, water splashes, strong vibrations, and heavy mechanical stress.
- Do not place liquid-filled objects or open flames near the device.
- Prevent objects, especially metal parts, from falling into the device.
- Repairs must be performed by qualified personnel only.
- Clean surfaces with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. Never use solvents or aggressive cleaners. Ensure no moisture enters connection points.
Danger to Children and Persons with Restricted Abilities: This product is not a toy. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not leave packaging material carelessly. Never operate unattended. Use only by persons with sufficient physical, sensory, and intellectual abilities and knowledge; otherwise, ensure supervision.
Warning: Burns and Fire: Operate within the ambient temperature range of -5 to +45°C. Keep away from flammable materials. Ensure adequate air circulation with 50 cm clearance; do not cover vents.
Warning: Injuries: Do not look directly at the light source. Ensure secure installation according to regulations (e.g., EN 60598-2-17). Use professional installers if unqualified. For overhead mounting, use a secondary safety attachment (e.g., safety bond or net). Block the area below during installation/servicing. Comply with country-specific accident prevention regulations.
Caution: Material Damage: If exposed to drastic temperature fluctuations, allow the device to reach room temperature before switching on to prevent condensation damage. Use original packaging for transport/storage. Do not remove the serial number label, as this voids the warranty.
Environmental Protection
Disposal of Old Equipment: Dispose of this device at a local recycling plant at the end of its life. Do not dispose of it as household waste. Contact your retailer or local authorities for information. Remove and dispose of batteries separately.
Battery Disposal: As an end user, you are legally required to return all used batteries. Disposal via household waste is prohibited. Return used batteries to collection points in your municipality or where batteries are sold. Proper disposal contributes to environmental protection.

Setup
Mounting
Warning: Risk of Injury from Falling Objects: Ensure secure installation. Installation must be performed by a qualified specialist familiar with hazards and regulations. The device can be mounted on a truss or similar structure using clamps. It must not be fixed swinging freely. The rigging structure must support at least 10 times the device's weight. Block the work area and use a stable platform. Use compatible rigging hardware. Secure the device with a secondary safety attachment (e.g., safety bond) sized according to safety regulations, ensuring a fall distance not exceeding 20 cm. Periodic inspections are required to prevent corrosion, deformation, or looseness.
Connections
LED Lamps
Danger: Electric Shock: Disconnect from mains before connecting lamps. Connect loads to the safety sockets. Dimmable LED light sources operating at 230 V AC can be connected. Maximum load per channel is 200 Watts.
DMX512 Controller
A DMX512 data link is required. The device has 3-pin XLR connectors:
- Connect your controller's output to the device's DMX IN using a DMX cable.
- Connect the device's DMX OUT to the next unit's DMX IN in a chain.
- Terminate the last unit in the chain with a 120 Ω resistor between Signal (-) and Signal (+) in the DMX output.
- For cable lengths over 300 m or more than 32 devices, consider a DMX signal amplifier for reliable data transmission.
QuickDMX Wireless Receiver
The device includes a USB port for a QuickDMX receiver (sold separately), enabling wireless DMX control and eliminating extensive cabling.
Connection to the Power Supply
Connect the provided mains cable to the device and a mains socket to power it on. Unplug to switch off. The mains output allows for easy interconnection of multiple devices.
Operation
The device powers on when connected to the mains. Configuration is done via the display and control buttons. Control is possible via DMX signal or QuickDMX. For standalone operation, use the sliders for brightness and the chaser function with 16 programs (automatic or music-controlled). Pull the mains plug to switch off.
Menu Structure
Navigate menus using the MENU button. Use ENTER to select functions and ▲/▼ to change values or modes. Confirm with ENTER or abort with MENU.
