Step 1: Attach Braces to TV

Objective: To attach the TV braces to the back of the television.

In order for the TV to hide the Mount on the wall, the Braces must be at least 3" higher than the bottom of the TV (or Soundbar if one is installed). If you are using an RB100 Recess Box, they must be 6" higher to hide the Recess Box.

  1. Test-fit Brace components: Place the TV screen-side down on a flat, blanketed surface. Lay out components to check assembly configuration. Refer to Step 1.8 if installing a soundbar.
  2. Determine TV Back Type: Check if the TV has a flat or irregular back. An irregular back may require Spacers {12} and longer Screws to fill gaps between the Vertical Brace {31} and the TV. The Braces must be parallel to the television screen.
  3. Select Screws and Spacers: If Spacers {12} are required, choose appropriate Screw combinations shown in the diagram, using maximum Spacer usage.
  4. Diagram Description: Shows two configurations for attaching braces to a TV back: 'Flat Back TV' and 'Irregular Back TV'. For irregular backs, it illustrates the use of Spacers {12} and longer screws. It also shows a 'Recessed Threads' variation for irregular backs. A visual guide details screw and spacer combinations for M5, M6, and M8 screws, indicating which parts to use based on the VESA hole size.

  5. Hand-thread screw combination: Insert the selected screws and spacers into the TV's threaded inserts. Ensure adequate thread engagement without bottoming out the screw.
  6. ❗ Caution: Do not use screws that are too long for the TV's threaded inserts, as this may damage internal components!

  7. Attach Vertical Braces {31}: Install the Vertical Braces {31} so their bottoms are between 3" and 10" from the bottom of the TV (or Soundbar). Center the braces vertically as much as possible.
  8. *If installing this mount with a MantelMount RB100 Recess Box, the bottom of the Vertical Brace must be 7"-10" from the bottom of the TV (or 7" from the bottom of the Soundbar if one is installed).

Diagram Description: A side view shows the Vertical Braces {31} attached to the TV. An enlarged view shows the required gap in the threaded TV insert for maximum stability. The text "VERTICAL BRACES MUST ALWAYS BE INSTALLED HIGHER THAN THE BOTTOM OF THE TV" is prominent, with a measurement indicator showing "3 to 10 * INCHES".

  9. If lower VESA holes are less than 3" from TV bottom: Connect the Vertical Braces {31} through the UPPER VESA holes only. If attaching through a slot, hand-thread the screw, slide the brace upward until the screw meets the bottom of the slot, then tighten. You must attach the Brace Extenders {30} as described in STEP 1.7, and also attach the LOWER VESA hole through the Brace Extender.
  10. Diagram Description: A side view illustrates attaching Vertical Braces {31} using only the upper VESA holes, with a Brace Extender {30} connecting to the lower VESA hole.

  11. Attach Horizontal Brace {55} to Brace Extenders {30}: Slide one Brace Extender {30} onto each end of the Horizontal Brace {55}. Align the Brace Extenders with the Vertical Braces {31} (already mounted to the TV). Attach the Horizontal Brace to the Brace Extenders using Screws {15}.
  12. Diagram Description: Shows the Horizontal Brace {55} with Brace Extenders {30} slid onto its ends. These are then aligned and attached to the Vertical Braces {31} using screws {15}.

  13. Optional: Attach Sound Bar Wings {52}: Use Screws {16}, M6 Washers {10}, and Nuts {23} to attach the Sound Bar Wings {52} to the Horizontal Brace {55}. Position the wings to fit the mounting holes of the soundbar.
  14. Diagram Description: Shows Sound Bar Wings {52} being attached to the Horizontal Brace {55} with hardware.

Sound Bar Wing Installation: Arrange Sound Bar Wings and sound bar to work with the Visual Heat Sensor {219}. The wings may be positioned and rotated so the sensor reaches below the soundbar. For example, if a soundbar is tall, the Brace Extenders {30} and Horizontal Brace {55} can be attached lower on the Vertical Braces {31} while the Wings point upwards to align with the soundbar's mounting holes.

Diagram Description: Illustrates two scenarios for soundbar installation: a 'TALLER SOUND BAR' and a 'WIDER SOUND BAR', showing how the wings and braces can be adjusted. It also shows the Visual Heat Sensor {219} positioned below the soundbar.

  15. Attach Visual Heat Sensor {219}: Attach the Visual Heat Sensor {219} with Screws {15} to the Horizontal Brace {55}. Set the height so the sensor is as visible as desired.
  16. Note: If using the minimum height from the chart in Step 2.2, keep the exposed heat sensor pad no more than 1" below the TV or soundbar. When first moving the mount down, ensure the visual heat sensor clears the mantel.

Diagram Description: A side view shows the Visual Heat Sensor {219} attached to the Horizontal Brace {55} with a measurement indicator showing "1" Max below TV or Soundbar".

Purpose of Heat Sensor: The Visual Heat Sensor turns red if the temperature above the fireplace exceeds a safe 110°F, serving as a visual cue to raise the TV or turn off the fireplace.

Step 2: Determine Wall Placement

Objective: To determine the correct vertical position for the Wall Plate {32}.

  1. Measure Distance: Measure the distance from the bottom of the Vertical Braces {31} (not the extenders) to the bottom of the TV/sound bar.
  2. Diagram Description: Shows a measurement being taken from the bottom of the Vertical Brace {31} to the bottom of the TV/soundbar.

  3. Determine Minimum Vertical Position of Wall Plate: Use the lookup table to find the minimum distance between the mantel and the bottom of the lower Wall Plate {32}. This is determined by the distance measured in STEP 2.1 and the mantel depth.
  4. Minimum Vertical Position Lookup Table:

Distance from STEP 2.1 Mantel Depth (inches)
    (inches) 8" or Less 9" 10" 11" 12" 13" 14" 15"-16"
    3"3.004.755.255.756.256.757.258.25
    4"4.505.756.256.757.257.758.259.25
    5"5.506.757.257.758.258.759.2510.25
    6"6.507.758.258.759.259.7510.2511.25
    7"7.508.759.259.7510.2510.7511.2512.25
    8"8.509.7510.2510.7511.2511.7512.2513.25
    9"9.5010.7511.2511.7512.2512.7513.2514.25
    10"10.5011.7512.2512.7513.2513.7514.2515.25

*If installing this mount with a MantelMount RB100 Recess Box, the bottom of the Vertical Brace must be 7"-10" from the bottom of the TV (or 7" from the bottom of the Soundbar if one is installed).

Most customers want their TV mounted as close to the mantel as possible. If this describes you, proceed to STEP 2.4. If you want the TV higher on the wall (e.g., centered between the mantel and ceiling), continue to STEP 2.3.

  5. Determine a Higher Vertical Position (Optional): For scenarios where the TV should be centered between the mantel and ceiling, or to allow space below the TV for decor or a center speaker.
    • Option 1: Centered between mantel and ceiling/crown molding.
    • Option 2: Specific distance above mantel.
      1. Record measurements: Wall Space Height (A), TV Height (B), Distance from STEP 2.1 (C).
      2. Calculate: (A) - (B) = (D). Then (D) / 2 = Target height above mantel for TV center.
      3. Add (C) and (D) to determine how many inches above the mantel to place the lower Wall Plate holes (E). (C) + (D) = (E).
      4. Alternatively, for Option 2, record the specific number of inches you want between the mantel and the TV (or TV with sound bar). Add this to (C) to find (E).
  6. NOTE: Distance "E" below must always be at least the minimum distance determined in STEP 2.2.

Diagram Description: Illustrates two options for calculating the Wall Plate position. Option 1 involves centering the TV between mantel and ceiling. Option 2 involves a specific distance above the mantel. Both options require measuring Wall Space Height (A), TV Height (B), and the distance from Step 2.1 (C), then performing calculations to find the target height (E) for the lower Wall Plate holes.

  7. Find Center of Mantel and Studs: Measure and mark the center line of the mantel on the wall. Use a stud finder to locate two studs, one on each side of the centerline. Mark the center of each stud at the determined height (from Step 2.2 or 2.3). Lag Bolts must be installed into the CENTER of the studs.
  8. Diagram Description: Shows a wall with a marked center line for the mantel. A stud finder is depicted locating studs. An awl is shown poking the drywall to find the exact center of a stud.

  9. Align and Mark Wall Plate: Align the arrows on the Wall Plate {32} pointing upward. Center and level the plate above the mantel at the determined height. Mark the 4 spots for lag bolts directly on the center of the studs.
  10. Diagram Description: Shows the Wall Plate {32} being held against the wall, centered and leveled above the mantel, with marks made for drilling lag bolt holes into the studs.

  11. Pre-drill Holes: Use a 7/32" drill bit to pre-drill the 4 holes to a depth of 2.5 inches (65mm), including wall covering.
  12. Note: Wall covering (drywall) must not exceed 5/8" thickness.

  13. If necessary, move Wall Plates to clear an outlet: If an electrical outlet impedes installation and cannot be professionally relocated, you can move the Wall Plates up or down to clear the outlet. Ensure the LOWER Wall Plate is not placed below the Minimum Distance (Step 2.2). IMPORTANT: You must move the Vertical Braces {31} on the back of the TV by the same amount (e.g., move braces down 2" if wall plates were moved down 2"). The bottom of the Vertical Braces must remain between 3" to 10" from the TV bottom. If the outlet is directly behind the Lifting Arm, the Wall Plates must be moved up.
  14. Diagram Description: Two diagrams illustrate the scenario: 'BEFORE Wall plate impeded by outlet' and 'After Wall Plate lowered to clear outlet'. Another set shows 'BEFORE If the wall plate sits directly behind lifting arm' and 'After Wall plate moved up to clear outlet'.

  15. Optional: Attaching the MM815 Lifting Arm into the RB100 Recess Box Kit: If installing with an RB100 Recess Box, refer to the RB100 manual for height charts. Insert the MM815 Lifting arm into the RB100, aligning screw holes. Use four {14} M8x16 screws. Rest the base of the lifting arm on M6 cap screws. Once holes align, insert and tighten M8x16 screws. Connect power and use the remote to lower the arm to expose lower holes (3 and 4). Gently push the arm up and back to secure the wall bracket to the RB100. Insert and tighten screws for holes 3 and 4. Tighten all four screws.
  16. Diagram Description: Illustrates inserting the MM815 Lifting Arm into the RB100 Recessed box, showing alignment of screw holes. It details using M8x16 screws and the process of securing the arm.

Step 3: Attach Mount to Wall

Objective: To securely attach the mount components to the wall.

  1. Attach Wall Plate {32}: Use Lag Bolts {17} and Washers {11} to attach the Wall Plate {32} (arrows up) directly into the center of the studs using a 13mm wrench.
  2. ❗ Caution: Do not overtighten Lag Bolts {17}. Tighten only until the washers are firmly against the wall plate. Damage due to overtightening can cause property damage or injury.

  3. Attach Lifting Mechanism {35}: Insert the bottom tabs of the Lifting Mechanism {35} into the slots of the Wall Plate {32}, then slide the top into position. Align all four holes and install Screws {14}. Tighten securely.
  4. Note: Do NOT let go of the Lifting Mechanism {35} until Screws {14} are installed.

Diagram Description: Shows the Lifting Mechanism {35} being slotted into the Wall Plate {32} and secured with screws {14}.

  5. Power Up and Test: Plug the Power Supply into the mount and then into a wall socket. The TV remote should work out of the box. Move the Mount Down approximately 2 inches by holding the [DOWN] button.
  6. If TV remote does not work, it needs to be paired:

    1. Unplug Power to mount for 30 seconds.
    2. Hold the [DOWN] button while plugging in power.
    3. Keep holding the [DOWN] button for around 10 seconds until the mount moves down.
  7. Run System Reset: This ensures the software is running correctly. Press SET, then RUN, then Press/Hold SET. The mount will move to the top position. Keep holding for 5 seconds after the mount reaches the top position.
  8. Diagram Description: A sequence of button presses is shown: Press [SET], Press [RUN], Press and hold [SET]. Then a graphic shows the mount moving to the top position and holding for 5 seconds.

  9. Programming Bottom Stop: This is crucial to prevent damage if the mount can drive down into the mantel or another object. Set the bottom-most position so the mount cannot move past that point.
    1. Drive the mount to the desired bottom-most position by holding the [DOWN] button.
    2. Do NOT allow the mount to run into anything.
    3. Press SET.
    4. Press the [DOWN] button.
    5. Press/Hold SET for 4 to 8 Seconds.
    6. Check by trying to move the mount down further.

Note: To delete the bottom stop, follow steps 3 to 6 but hold the SET button for more than 10 seconds in step 5.

Diagram Description: A step-by-step visual guide for setting the bottom stop, showing button presses and mount movement.

  10. Swivel Safety Clutch Recalibration: The swivel has a friction clutch that disengages to prevent damage if it hits an obstruction. If this happens, the swivel needs recalibration. To recalibrate, auto-move the mount to the top position: Press RUN, then press the [UP] button within 3 seconds. The mount will move to the top position and recalibrate. The System Reset function can also recalibrate the swivel.
  11. Diagram Description: Shows pressing RUN, then pressing the [UP] button within 3 seconds.

Note: If the clutch is engaged, the mount may swivel slightly when coming down. To fix this, manually center the mount at zero degrees swivel by rotating the TV with your hands, overriding the clutch. The mount is at zero degrees swivel after recalibration (driving to the top position), then move the mount straight down.

  12. Attach the TV Brace {33} to the Lifting Arm {35}: Manually swiveling the Swivel Plate can make accessing screw holes easier. Level the TV Brace and tighten the 4 screws {15}.
  13. NOTE: After the TV is mounted, you may need to adjust these screws for final Post-Leveling adjustments (Step 5.6).

Diagram Description: Shows the TV Brace {33} being attached to the Lifting Arm {35} using screws {15}.

Step 4: Attach TV to Mount

Objective: To securely attach the television to the mount.

NOTE: These next steps will require two people.

⚠️ WARNING! Do not put hands into the Lifting Mechanism. The power of the Lifting Mechanism can cause bodily injury!

⚠️ Pinching and Crushing Hazard: The wall mount actuation is very strong, do NOT run the mount when anyone is near the mount. Do NOT have any part of the body in the mount or between the TV and Wall. The Mount will keep driving until someone pushes another button on the remote to stop it. When working on the mount, unplug the power. Never allow small children to play around or operate the MantelMount. Property damage or personal injury can occur.

  1. Hang the Television: This step requires two people. Carefully hang the Television onto the TV Brace {33}, ensuring that both hooks on the Vertical Braces {31} engage the TV Brace {33}.
  2. Diagram Description: Two people are shown carefully lifting and hanging a TV onto the TV Brace {33}, ensuring hooks engage.

  3. Center the TV: Center the TV on the TV Frame and check with a level. Carefully slide the TV sideways, if required, until it is balanced and horizontal, up to a MAXIMUM OF 2 INCHES left or right.
  4. The TV would only need to be moved off-center if it has unbalanced weight (usually older, heavier TVs). If the TV needs to be moved sideways and is visually too much off-center above the mantel, remove the TV and relocate the Wall Plate {32} an equal distance but in the opposite direction of the TV to compensate.

  5. Install Securing Screws: Install 4 Screws {15} through the TV Brace {33} and into the Vertical Braces {31}.
  6. Attach Cable Ties: Attach cables to the underside of the Lower Arm using the included Cable Ties {23} to create a gentle loop. Cables should be long enough to accommodate the extension and swivel of the MantelMount. Check all ranges of motion before tightening.
  7. Diagram Description: Shows the underside of the mount's lower arm with cable ties {23} securing electrical and signal cables in a loop.

  8. Attach Electrical and Signal Cables: Run signal cables through the open loop. Provide extra length for each cable segment so they are not stressed or kinked when the mount moves. Ensure cables do not get pinched within the Lifting Arm when the TV is raised.
  9. Diagram Description: Illustrates a possible configuration for signal cables, showing ample slack to allow for mount movement without stress or kinking.

Step 5: Make Final Adjustments

Objective: To fine-tune the mount's operation for optimal performance and aesthetics.

Diagram Description: An overview diagram shows key adjustment points: Centering Cam Swivel Hardstop, Top Tilt Adjust, Post-Leveling, and Bottom Tilt Adjust.

  1. Programming Left/Right Swivel Stop: To prevent the mount from swiveling into the mantel or other objects.
    1. Press RUN then the [UP] button to calibrate (Mount should move all the way to the Top Position).
    2. Drive mount to the Bottom Position.
    3. Press and hold the [SWIVEL RIGHT] or [SWIVEL LEFT] button to swivel the mount as far as wanted.
    4. Press SET.
    5. Press the corresponding [SWIVEL RIGHT] or [SWIVEL LEFT] button.
    6. Press/Hold SET for 4 to 8 Seconds.
    7. Check by trying to move the mount past the set swivel limit.
  2. Note: To delete the swivel soft stop, follow steps 3 to 6 but hold the SET button for more than 10 seconds in step 6.

  3. Adjust Side Swivel Stops: To keep the TV from bumping the mantel or wall, loosen the Locknuts {23} and adjust the Swivel Stop Screws to the desired stopping left and right positions. Tighten both Locknuts after adjustments. Mechanical Swivel Stops should be just past the programmed swivel stop. If minimal or no swivel is desired, it may be necessary to remove the Screw and/or Locknuts and reattach them on the other side of the Swivel Bracket.
  4. NOTE: To better access swivel stop adjustment screws, swivel the mount to the left or right to gain better access.

  5. Centering Cam Adjustment: The Centering Cam automatically swivels the TV to center while raising to avoid obstacles. Out of the box, they are set for maximum protection. To get more possible swivel:
    1. Move TV to Out Position.
    2. Swivel TV so it is near the wall or mantel.
    3. Swing Centering Cam forward until Cam Rollers contact.
    4. Tighten Cam Nut.
