This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Roborock S5 Max robot vacuum cleaner.
Product Overview
The Roborock S5 Max is a smart robot vacuum cleaner designed for efficient home cleaning. It features advanced navigation, powerful suction, and mopping capabilities.
Setup and Installation
Charging Dock Placement:
- Place the charging dock on a flat, hard surface against a wall.
- Ensure there is at least 0.5m (1.6ft) of clearance on both sides and 1.5m (5ft) in front of the dock.
- Connect the power adapter to the dock and plug it into a wall outlet.
- The charging dock indicator light will illuminate when powered.
Securing the Charging Dock:
- Clean the floor where the dock will be placed with a dry cloth.
- Use the provided double-sided adhesive tape to secure the dock to the floor.
- Alternatively, a moisture-proof mat can be used under the dock on wooden floors to prevent damage.
Charging the Robot:
- Place the robot on the charging dock. The power indicator will light up.
- The robot uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Keep the robot charged for optimal performance.
- The power indicator color indicates battery level: White (≥20%), Red (<20%).
Connecting to the App
Download the Roborock or Xiaomi Home app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to add the robot.
- Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- To reset Wi-Fi, open the top cover, press and hold the power and dock buttons until you hear the "Wi-Fi Reset" voice prompt. The Wi-Fi indicator will blink slowly.
Robot Operation
Starting Cleaning:
- Press the power button to start cleaning. The robot will navigate and clean the area.
- The robot cleans the edges first, then moves in a Z-pattern to cover the interior efficiently.
Pausing/Resuming Cleaning:
- Press any button to pause cleaning.
- Press the power button to resume cleaning or the dock button to return to the charging dock and end the cleaning cycle.
Sleep Mode:
- If the robot is paused for over 10 minutes, it will enter sleep mode. Press any button to wake it up.
- The robot will automatically shut down if left in sleep mode for over 12 hours.
Spot Cleaning:
- In standby or pause mode, press and hold the dock button to start spot cleaning. This mode cleans a 1.5m x 1.5m area around the robot.
Selective Room Cleaning:
- Use the app to select specific rooms for cleaning. The robot will only clean the selected rooms.
- Requires a full map to be created and Map Saving mode to be enabled.
Cleaning Modes:
- Select from Quiet, Balanced, Strong, or MAX modes via the app. Balanced is the default.
Do Not Disturb (DND) Mode:
- In DND mode, cleaning will not start, voice alerts will be silent, and the power indicator will be off.
- DND mode is typically set from 22:00 to 08:00 and can be adjusted in the app.
Virtual No-Go Zones and Walls:
- Use the app to draw virtual barriers to prevent the robot from entering certain areas or crossing specific lines.
- Virtual No-Mop Zones and Walls are active only when the mopping module is attached.
Maintenance
Main Brush:
- Weekly cleaning recommended.
- Remove the main brush, clean it, and reassemble. Replace every 6-12 months.
Dustbin and Filter:
- Weekly cleaning recommended.
- Empty the dustbin and clean the washable filter every two weeks. Ensure the filter is completely dry before use (24 hours recommended).
Side Brush:
- Monthly cleaning recommended.
- Remove the side brush, clean it, and reassemble. Replace every 3-6 months.
Wheels:
- Frequent cleaning recommended.
- Clean the universal wheel and its components regularly.
Sensors:
- Monthly cleaning recommended.
- Wipe all sensors (cliff sensors, wall sensors, charging contacts) with a soft, dry cloth.
Charging Dock Contacts:
- Monthly cleaning recommended.
- Clean the charging contacts on the dock with a soft, dry cloth.
Troubleshooting
If the robot encounters an error, the power indicator will flash red rapidly, accompanied by a voice alert.
- Error 1: LDS unit is jammed. Remove obstructions, move the robot to a new location, and restart.
- Error 2: Bumper is stuck. Tap the bumper repeatedly to dislodge stuck items. If the issue persists, move the robot to a new location and restart.
- Error 3: A wheel is suspended. Move the robot to a new location and restart.
- Error 4: Robot is suspended. Move the robot to a new location and restart. If the problem continues, clean the cliff sensors.
- Error 5: Main brush may be tangled. Remove and clean the main brush.
- Error 6: Side brush may be tangled. Remove and clean the side brush.
- Error 7: Main wheels may be stuck. Remove and clean the main wheels.
- Error 8: Robot may be stuck. Remove surrounding obstacles.
- Error 9: Dustbin and filter may not be installed correctly. Reinstall the dustbin and filter, ensuring they are properly seated. Consider replacing the filter if the problem persists.
- Error 10: Filter is not completely dry. Dry the filter for at least 24 hours. Cleaning the filter may also be necessary. Replace the filter if the problem persists.
- Error 11: High-density magnetic field detected. Move the robot away from magnetic bands and restart.
- Error 12: Battery level is too low. Charge the robot before use.
- Error 13: Charging error. Clean the charging contacts.
- Error 14: Battery error. Wait for the battery temperature to normalize.
- Error 16: Robot is tilted. Place the robot on a flat surface and restart.
- Error 17: Side brush module error. Reset the system.
- Error 18: Vacuum fan error. Reset the system.
- Error 22: Please clean the charging sensor. The charging sensor may be blocked by dust. Wipe it clean.
- Error 23: Please clean the dock's signal emission area. The charging dock may be obstructed. Clean and try again.
- Error 24: Virtual no-go zone or wall detected. Move the robot to a new location and restart.
- Error 26: Clean the wall sensor. The wall sensor may be dirty. Clean it.
- Internal error. Reset the system.
