Welcome
Thank you for choosing the Roborock S5 Max Vacuum Cleaner. With its powerful vacuuming and mopping systems, your floors will be thoroughly cleaned and deeply purified with every sweep. After cleaning, the robot automatically returns to the dock for charging without manual assistance. Furthermore, the new noise reduction design minimizes noise, allowing the robot to operate even at night. Please read this manual carefully before use and keep it for your reference.
Product Overview
The Roborock S5 Max is a robot vacuum cleaner designed for efficient home cleaning.
Robot Components:
- Power/Clean Button: Press and hold for 3 seconds to turn the power on or off. Press to start cleaning after power is on.
- LED Indicator:
- Solid White: Battery level > 20%
- Slowly Pulsing White: Charging or starting to clean
- Solid Red: Battery level < 20%
- Flashing Red: Error
- Spot Clean/Dock Button: Press to send the robot vacuum to the dock station for charging. Press and hold for 3 seconds to enter spot cleaning mode.
- Top Cover Latch: Used to access internal components.
Dock Station Components:
- Charging Dock: The base where the robot charges.
- Charging Indicator: Shows charging status.
- Power Port: For connecting the power adapter.
- Contact Terminal: Connects to the robot for charging.

Dock Station Installation
Place the charging dock on a level floor against a wall. Ensure at least 0.5 meters of clearance on both sides and 1.5 meters of clearance in front for the robot's access. Hide any excess power cord inside the dock. The charging indicator will light up when charging begins and turn off when fully charged.
Note: Ensure the waterproof pad is installed under the charging dock if placed on a wooden floor to prevent moisture damage.
Quick Setup and Connection
This product is compatible with the Mi Home smart home platform and can be controlled via the Mi Home app. It also supports the MIUI ecosystem and can connect to other Mi Home Smart Home products.
- Download the Mi Home App: Search for "Mi Home" in your app store or scan the provided QR code.
- Add Device: Open the "My Devices" page in the Mi Home app, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner, and follow the on-screen instructions to add the robot.
- Wi-Fi Reset: If you encounter Wi-Fi issues, reset the Wi-Fi settings. Open the top cover, locate the Wi-Fi indicator, and press and hold the Spot Clean and Dock buttons simultaneously until you hear a voice prompt "Wi-Fi reset". The indicator will then slowly blink, indicating it's ready for connection.
Note: Wi-Fi connection only supports 2.4 GHz networks. For specific connection instructions, visit the Roborock website and download the instructions.
Using the Mopping Function
- Detach the Mopping Module: Press the side latches on the mopping module and pull to remove it.
- Fill the Water Reservoir: Open the water reservoir, fill it with water, and close it securely. Note: Use only clean water; some cleaning agents may damage the water filters.
- Install the Mopping Module: Align the mopping module with the robot and slide it in until it clicks.
- Attach the Mop Cloth: Wet the mop cloth, wring out excess water, and attach it to the mounting points on the mopping module.
Note: Remove the mopping module when not in use. Empty the water reservoir and dry the mop cloth to prevent mold or odors.
Operation
Starting a Clean:
Press the Power/Clean button (?) to start cleaning. The robot will plan a cleaning path based on the scanned map of the area. It cleans edges first, then follows a Z-shaped pattern for efficient coverage.
Note: The robot will not start cleaning if the battery is low. It will automatically return to the dock if the battery runs low during cleaning and resume once fully charged. Ensure all cables are cleared from the floor before starting to prevent entanglement.
Pause:
Press any button to pause the robot during cleaning. Press the Power/Clean button again to resume.
Returning to Dock:
Press and hold the Spot Clean/Dock button for 3 seconds to send the robot back to the dock station.
Sleep Mode:
If the robot is idle for over 10 minutes, it will enter sleep mode, indicated by a slowly blinking power indicator. Press any button to wake it up.
Note: The robot will not enter sleep mode while charging. It will automatically shut down if left in sleep mode for over 12 hours.
Charging:
The robot automatically returns to the dock for charging after cleaning. You can also manually initiate charging by pressing the Dock button.
Errors:
If an error occurs, the power indicator will flash red, and a voice prompt will announce the error. Refer to the troubleshooting section for solutions.
Cleaning Modes
- Spot Cleaning: Press the Quick Clean button. The robot cleans a 1.5m x 1.5m square area and then returns to its starting position.
- Room Cleaning: Direct the robot to clean specific rooms. Requires map saving to be enabled.
- Scheduled Cleaning: Set a schedule for the robot to start cleaning automatically. It will return to the dock after cleaning.
- Zonal Cleaning: Draw a specific zone on the map for the robot to clean.
- Targeted Area Cleaning: Mark specific points on the map for the robot to clean.
- Cleaning Modes (Quiet, Balanced, Turbo, Max): Select the desired cleaning intensity. Balanced is the default.
- Do Not Disturb (DND) Mode: Suspends cleaning cycles and mutes voice prompts during specified hours (default 10 PM to 8 AM).
- Forbidden Zones / Virtual Barriers: Set virtual boundaries on the map to prevent the robot from entering certain areas. Requires map saving.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.
Main Brush (Weekly Cleaning):
Clean the main brush weekly. Replace every 6-12 months for best results.
- Access the main brush by opening the top cover.
- Remove the brush guard, then the main brush.
- Clean the brush and its bearing.
- Reassemble.
Dustbin (Bi-weekly Cleaning):
Open the dustbin lid, remove the dustbin, and empty its contents. Wash the dustbin with water and dry it thoroughly. Ensure it is completely dry before reinserting.
Air Filter (Bi-weekly Cleaning):
Rinse the air filter with water. Gently tap the filter frame against a hard surface to remove debris. Repeat until clean. Ensure the filter is completely dry before reinserting.
Side Brush (Monthly Cleaning):
Remove the side brush by unscrewing the retaining screw. Clean the brush and the screw. Reattach the side brush.
Mop Cloth:
After use, detach the mop cloth, wash it, and dry it. Replace the mop cloth every 3-6 months.
Wheels (Monthly Cleaning):
Turn the robot upside down and remove the universal wheel. Clean any hair and debris from the wheel and its axle. Reinstall the universal wheel.
Troubleshooting
Refer to the following table for common issues and their solutions:

Wheels are blocked | Ensure wheels are not blocked. Move the robot to a new location and restart. |
Robot stuck or encountering obstacles | Clear any obstacles around the robot. |
Dustbin or filter issues | Reinstall the dustbin and filter correctly. If the problem persists, replace the filter. Ensure the filter is dry before use. |
Wi-Fi connection issues | Turn off Wi-Fi, then turn it back on. Ensure the robot is within good Wi-Fi range. Reset Wi-Fi settings and try reconnecting. Update the mobile app. |
Scheduled cleaning not working | Ensure the battery level is sufficient (above 20%). Check if the robot is in "Do Not Disturb" mode. |

Safety Precautions
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury:
- Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
- Do not allow children to play with the device.
- Supervise children, pets, and plants during operation.
- Do not use with a damaged cord or plug.
- If the device malfunctions, is dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped in water, return it to a service center.
- Do not pull or carry by the cord, use the cord as a handle, or pull the cord around sharp edges.
- Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
- Do not place objects on the cord.
- Do not unplug the base by pulling the cord; grasp the plug.
- Do not touch the charging device, plug, or terminals with wet hands.
- Do not block air vents; keep them clear of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.
- Keep hair, clothing, fingers, and all body parts away from openings and moving parts.
- Do not use to collect flammable or combustible liquids like gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.
- Ensure the switch is in the OFF position before connecting to the battery, lifting, or carrying the vacuum.
- Only use the charger specified by the manufacturer. Using a charger not specified by the manufacturer may pose a fire risk.
- Only use batteries specifically designed for this appliance. Using other battery packs may cause injury or fire. Disconnect the battery pack before servicing.
- Keep the battery pack separate from metallic objects that could cause short circuits.
- In rare cases, liquid may leak from the battery pack; avoid contact. If contact occurs, flush with water and seek medical attention.
- Do not use a damaged or modified battery pack, as it may exhibit unpredictable behavior, leading to fire, explosion, or injury.
- Do not expose the battery pack or appliance to fire or excessive temperatures (above 130°C / 266°F) as this may cause an explosion.
- Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or appliance outside the specified temperature range. Improper charging may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
- Service should only be performed by qualified repair personnel using identical replacement parts.
- Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance yourself.

Do not use the product if the temperature is above 40°C (104°F) or below 4°C (39°F), or if there is liquid or sticky substances on the floor.
