  • To disconnect, turn control to OFF, then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Keep lid on the carafe when in use. Scalding may occur if lid is removed during brewing.
  • The carafe is designed for use with this appliance only. It must never be used on a range top.
  • Do not set a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.
  • Do not use a cracked carafe or one with a loose or weakened handle.
  • Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

POLARIZED PLUG (120V Models Only): This appliance has a polarized plug. To reduce the risk of electric shock, it is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug.

TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW: Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. No user-serviceable parts inside. Repair by authorized personnel only.

ELECTRICAL CORD: Use a short power-supply cord to reduce entanglement risk. Longer detachable cords or extension cords may be used if care is exercised. Ensure their electrical rating is at least as great as the appliance's. If the appliance is grounded, the extension cord must be a 3-wire grounding type. Arrange cords so they do not drape over countertops where they can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

How to Use

This product is for household use only.

Getting Started

  • Wash removable parts as instructed in CARE AND CLEANING.
  • Open one-piece cover and insert permanent nylon mesh filter or an empty paper filter into the removable filter basket.
  • Pour fresh cold water up to the 12-cup (MAX) mark into the water reservoir.
  • Brew water through the appliance following BREWING COFFEE instructions without coffee grounds. This removes any dust or residue from manufacturing.
  • Discard water from the carafe and paper filter (if used).
  • Turn off coffeemaker, unplug, and allow to cool down.

Water Filter Installation

  1. Remove carbon filter from packing material.
  2. Press latch on filter holder to open.
  3. Place carbon filter inside.
  4. Close the filter holder tightly until it snaps into place.
  5. Place filter holder inside water reservoir and insert it into the recess at the bottom right-hand corner.

Setting the Clock

  1. Plug appliance into a standard electrical outlet.
  2. The digital display will flash 12:00 A.M.
  3. To set the time: Press HOUR button until the correct time appears. A small dot in the top left corner indicates P.M.
  4. Press MIN button to select minutes.

Note: If the unit is unplugged or power is interrupted, the time will need to be reset.

Brewing Coffee

  1. Open one-piece cover. Fill water reservoir with cold tap water using the markings as a guide. Do not exceed 12 cups (MAX).
  2. Place permanent nylon mesh filter or a basket-style paper filter into the filter basket. Add ground coffee (suggested: 1 heaping tablespoon per cup). Place filter basket in place.
  3. Close one-piece cover.
  4. Place empty carafe on the "Keep Hot" carafe plate.
  5. Plug cord into a standard electrical outlet. Press ON/OFF button; brewing begins.
  6. When coffee grounds are cool, carefully remove and discard used grounds and filter. The coffeemaker will keep brewed coffee hot for 2 hours and then automatically turn off.
  7. To turn off coffeemaker at any time, press ON/OFF button.
  8. Unplug appliance when not in use.

Brewing 1 to 4 Cups

This feature slows down brewing to extract the best flavor when brewing smaller amounts.

  1. Add the appropriate amount of water for the number of cups.
  2. Add desired amount of coffee grounds to the filter inside the filter basket.
  3. Press the 1-4 CUP button. A green light will appear in the lower right corner of the display.

Sneak-A-Cup® Feature

Remove the carafe and brewing is paused. The carafe must be placed back on the "Keep Hot" carafe plate within 30 seconds to prevent overflow. Brewing resumes.

Keep Hot Function

Once coffee has brewed, the coffeemaker will keep it hot on the "Keep Hot" carafe plate for 2 hours, then automatically shut off. To cancel, press the ON/OFF button.

Setting Auto Brew Time

  1. Press PROG button. The AUTO light flashes. Digital clock displays 12:00.
  2. Quickly press HOUR button, then MIN button to select the desired auto-brew start time (e.g., 7:15 A.M. Ensure the P.M. light is not on).
  3. Press AUTO button again, holding it down until the AUTO light stops flashing. The digital display changes to the current time.
  4. To check preset auto time, press PROG button. Press AUTO button to reactivate.
  5. To cancel Auto Brew, press ON/OFF button to brew immediately or press ON/OFF again to turn off the coffeemaker.

Care and Cleaning

This product contains no user-serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified personnel.

Cleaning

  1. Ensure coffeemaker is unplugged and cool.
  2. Remove filter basket. Discard used paper filter and coffee grounds.
  3. Wash filter basket, permanent filter, and carafe in dishwasher (top-rack) or by hand in hot, soapy water.
  4. Wipe the outside of the coffeemaker, control panel, and "Keep Hot" carafe plate with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads. Never immerse the coffeemaker in water.
  5. To clean the inside of the cover, open it, wipe with a damp cloth, and close.

Water Filter Holder

  1. Press latch on filter holder to open.
  2. Take out carbon filter.
  3. Place carbon filter on top of a paper towel.
  4. Wash filter holder in dishwasher (top rack) or by hand in hot, soapy water. Rinse with tap water.
  5. Place carbon filter back inside filter holder.
  6. Close filter holder tightly until it snaps into place.
  7. Place filter holder inside water reservoir and insert it into the recess at the bottom right-hand corner.

Water Filter Replacement

Note: Replace carbon filter every 60 brewing cycles or every 2 months after removing from sealed package. Call the 800 number for replacements.

  1. Press latch on filter holder to open.
  2. Dispose of old carbon filter.
  3. Remove new carbon filter from packing material.
  4. Place new carbon filter inside filter holder.
  5. Close the filter holder tightly until it snaps into place.
  6. Place filter holder inside the water reservoir and insert it into the recess at the bottom right-hand corner.

Cleaning with Vinegar (Descaling)

The coffeemaker tracks brewing cycles to remind you when a full cleaning is needed. The CLEAN light flashes after 60 cycles.

Important: If coffeemaker is unplugged or loses power, the CLEAN cycle counter resets.

  1. Ensure coffeemaker is OFF before starting the CLEAN cycle.
  2. Pour white vinegar into water reservoir up to the 6-cup mark. Add cold water up to the 10-cup mark.
  3. Put a paper filter or permanent filter in the filter basket and close cover. Set empty carafe on the "Keep Hot" carafe plate.
  4. Press and hold PROG button for about 5 seconds to start the cleaning cycle. The CLEAN light will flash until the cycle is complete (approx. 45-60 minutes).
  5. During the cycle: The coffeemaker brews about 3 cups, pauses for 30 minutes to soften mineral deposits, then brews the remaining solution.
  6. When complete, the coffeemaker turns off automatically.
  7. Before brewing coffee again, run a full carafe of clean water through a regular brewing cycle without coffee grounds to remove any vinegar smell or taste. Repeat if necessary.
  8. The CLEAN cycle counter resets after cleaning.

To activate CLEAN cycle before 60 cycles: Follow steps 1-3 above, then press and hold PROG button (approx. 5 seconds) until CLEAN indicator light starts to flash.
