Thank you for purchasing the Black and Decker® Garment Steamer. Your new Garment Steamer will change the way you press garments forever. Up to one hour of continuous steam and a telescopic design give you maximum flexibility to smooth away the wrinkles from hanging garments, drapes and even upholstery without having to use an iron or ironing board.

Important Safeguards

Safety Features

Grounded Plug

As a safety feature, this product is equipped with a grounded plug, which will only fit into a three-prong outlet. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. Improper connection of the grounding conductor may result in the risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded.

Tamper-Resistant Screw

Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.

Damaged Power Cord

Note: If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel or in Latin America by an authorized service center.

Getting Familiar With Your Unit

Assembly Instructions

Inserting Flexible Hose

1. Align connector prongs with holes on the unit and push inside the connector.

2. Slide the lock nut through the hose all the way to the end.

3. Place lock nut over the unit connector and twist clockwise (↪️) tightly in place.

Inserting Trouser Clamps Holder Assembly

For convenience, the trouser clamps can be used as a regular clip hanger at the top of the telescopic pole or to clip the bottoms of the pants.

1. Loosen the holder lock nut by turning it counterclockwise (↩️).

2. Find the slot at the bottom of the pole, insert and slide the holder assembly with the holder facing as shown.

Note: If using the trouser clamps as a regular clip hanger, slide the holder assembly to the top of the pole.

3. Secure assembly in place by twisting the lock nut clockwise (↪️) until it is tight.

Tip: Make sure the trouser holder is in the upright position.

4. Insert and push the trouser clamp bar securely into the holder.

Inserting Telescopic Tube

1. With the trouser clamp holder in place, remove the lock nut from the unit connector by turning it counterclockwise (↩️).

2. Insert the narrow end of the lock nut through the flat end of the telescopic pole.

3. Hold the telescopic pole and insert into the connector.

Important: The slot on the telescopic pole must slide over the notch inside the connector for the pole to slide into position.

4. Once the telescopic pole is inside the connector, twist the lock nut clockwise (↪️) until tight.

Inserting Steam Nozzle Holder Assembly

1. Pull up one extension tube at a time and tighten each lock nut by twisting clockwise (↪️).

2. Insert the steam nozzle holder assembly at the top of the telescopic pole and rotate it clockwise (↪️) until securely in place.

1. Insert steam nozzle into its holder.

2. Attach the lint brush to the nozzle by inserting end tabs into the nozzle slots.

Your unit is now assembled!

How to Use

This appliance is for household use only.

Getting Started: Filling Water Tank

  1. Make sure the unit is unplugged.
  2. Place unit on the floor.
  3. Grasp water tank handle and remove water tank.
  4. Turn the water tank upside down and remove the cap by turning it counterclockwise (↩️).
  5. Fill the water tank with water. Important: Do not add cleaning solutions or any other chemicals to the water in the tank. Only use regular tap water.
  6. Replace the cap and tighten by turning it clockwise (↪️).
  7. Insert water tank back into the unit securely in place.

Steaming Garments

Trousers

  1. Make sure the unit is Off.
  2. Using a clip hanger, hang the pants by the waist on the hanger holder.
  3. Stretch the pants and clip the bottoms using the trouser clamps or move the trouser clamps holder to the top of the pole and using the trouser clamps, hang the pants by the waist.

Other Hanging Garments

Note: To steam other hanging garments, just hang your clothes on a regular hanger on the hanger holder.

Operation

  1. Plug the unit into an electrical outlet.
  2. Press the On/Off (I/0) switch. The switch and indicator lights (?) illuminate.
  3. Remove the steam nozzle from its holder, facing upward and away from you.
  4. Press the Steam button (▶️). The indicator lights on the unit illuminate, and in a few seconds, steam is released.

Important:

Use the lint brush (Part # GSR10-01) to remove lint from the fabric as it steams.

Automatic Shutoff

The unit shuts off automatically:

To use the unit again, turn Off then On and resume operation.

Care and Cleaning

This product contains no user-serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel.

Cleaning

  1. Make sure the unit is off.
  2. Wait for the unit to cool down completely before draining the water tank.
  3. Remove water tank and drain any remaining water.
  4. Wipe the outside surface with a damp cloth. Never immerse the unit in water or other liquids.

Storage

Important: If you want to leave your unit ready for daily use, just leave the water tank filled and in place.

Troubleshooting

PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION
Steamer Does Not Get Hot 1. Steamer is not plugged into electrical outlet.
2. Flexible hose is not connected properly.
3. Unit shuts off automatically.
1. Plug power cord into electrical outlet.
2. Check flexible hose connection.
3. Turn off unit then on again.
No Steam Water level is too low. Refill the water tank following instructions on page 6.
Water Drips From The Steam Nozzle Condensation has formed inside the steamer hose. Hold the steamer hose upright fully extended and allow excess moisture to drain back in the water reservoir.
