Installation Instructions
- 5 Tonne Chassis Cab Only: Remove the four existing bolts each side bolting the under run beam to the vehicles chassis members and remove the beam. (No longer required).
- All Models: Locate and clean all Towbar mounting point faces on vehicle, ensure both sides of chassis are clean and free from any under seal.
- Using Item G with Item J loosely bolt Item B to the existing holes in each chassis member with Item C on the outside face. Note: Item C must be fitted with Towbar on MWB and LWB only.
- Using Item H with Item K loosely bolt Item A to Item B.
- Using Item F bolt the chosen coupling to the mounting plate Item D. (When fitting to 5 tonne vehicles with the 4 bolt coupling (E100TC) please ensure 12 x 30 flat washers supplied with coupling are behind Item D)
- Fully tighten all nuts and bolts and ensure the Towbar is rigid, square, and secure.
- Fit Item D to Item A using Item E. See sketch for orientation of clips.
Diagram Descriptions
Main Assembly Diagram: Illustrates the overall towbar structure. A central crossmember (A) is shown connecting to two side arms (B). The side arms (B) are designed to attach to the vehicle's chassis using chassis clamp plates (C). A slider frame (D) is attached to the crossmember (A) via slider frame pins and clips (E). The diagram indicates the use of various bolts (F, G, H) and washers (J, K) for securing these components. It shows the relative positions of parts before final tightening.
Slider Frame Pin and Clip Detail: A close-up view showing how the slider frame (D) is secured to the crossmember (A) using pins and clips (E). This detail highlights the mechanism for attaching and potentially detaching the slider frame, secured by a linch pin and an R clip.
Coupling Attachment Detail: This section shows how the towbar coupling is attached to the mounting plate (D) using bolts (F). It specifically notes that for 5-tonne vehicles using the E100TC coupling, 12 x 30 flat washers (K) should be placed behind the mounting plate (D).
Chassis Mounting Detail: Illustrates the connection points on the vehicle's chassis. Side arms (B) are shown being bolted to the chassis using chassis clamp plates (C) and specific bolts and washers (G, J).
Linch Pin and R Clip Detail: A magnified view of the linch pin and R clip used to secure components, likely for safety and retention of moving parts within the towbar assembly.
Notes
Torque Settings: Recommended torque setting for M12 Grade 10.9 bolts is 139 Nm. Refer to overleaf notes for other torque settings.
Load Limits: Nose load limits and vehicle manufacturers' trailer/caravan weight limits must be observed.
