2. Introduction

2.1 Product Overview

The RainPoint system consists of a Bluetooth Hose Timer and a Smart Hub.

Hose Timer Components:

  • Filter: Located at the water inlet.
  • Water Inlet: Connects to the faucet.
  • LED Indicator: Shows device status.
  • Timer Button: Used for manual operation and pairing.
  • Water Outlet: Connects to the hose.
  • Battery Compartment: Houses 4x AA batteries (not included).

Smart Hub Components:

  • Button: Used for pairing and reset.
  • LED Indicator: Shows device status.
  • Power Plug: Connects to a power outlet.

2.2 Specification

3. Connection and Installation

3.1 APP Download

To get started, download the RainPoint Smart+ app:

  • Search for "RainPoint Smart+" on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  • Alternatively, scan the provided QR codes (Note: QR codes are excluded from this HTML output) to download the app for iOS or Android.

After downloading, create an account and log in by following the on-screen prompts using your email or mobile phone.

3.2 Pair the Smart Hub

  1. Plug the Smart Hub into an indoor power source near your WiFi router and the timer's outdoor location.
  2. Open the RainPoint Smart+ App and tap "Add device" or the "+" icon to add a new device.
  3. Find and select "HWG009WB" or the corresponding icon to add the Smart Hub. Alternatively, press the scan QR code icon (Note: QR codes are excluded) to proceed.
  4. Select your 2.4GHz WiFi network and enter the password. Tip: If your router is dual-band, look for a "Common router setting method" to differentiate between 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.
  5. Note: The Smart Hub connection only supports 2.4GHz WiFi.
  6. Plug the HWG009WB Smart Hub into an outlet and wait approximately 10 seconds for initialization.
  7. Press and hold the hub button for 5 seconds until the blue indicator light flashes rapidly (2 times per second).
  8. Select "All steps completed" and tap "Next". The app will then search for and pair your Smart Hub automatically.
  9. Click "Save" for final confirmation after the device is successfully added. The Smart Hub's icon will appear on the app's home screen.

3.3 Connect the Bluetooth Hose Timer to Smart Hub

  1. Insert 4 new AA alkaline batteries (not included) into the timer's battery compartment and secure it.
  2. WARNING: Use only alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries. Ensure correct polarity. Remove exhausted batteries. Remove batteries for long-term storage.
  3. On the "HWG009WB" device page in the app, press the "+" icon to add a device.
  4. Find and select "HTV107B" or the corresponding icon to add the Timer. Alternatively, scan the QR code (Note: QR codes are excluded) and enter the next step.
  5. Press and hold the timer's button until the LED light flashes red quickly. Simultaneously, select "Next" in the app to start searching for the device automatically.
  6. Note: The water timer can be paired with a smart hub or directly via Bluetooth. For hub pairing, ensure your phone's Bluetooth is enabled.
  7. If you fail to connect the timer initially, press and hold the timer's button (or refer to "RESET THE DEVICE") to reset and reconnect.
  8. After successful connection and plan creation, the next watering plan time will be displayed on the device page. The timer and hub icons will appear on the app's home screen.
  9. Note: Pairing the timer with the smart hub enables remote control.

3.4 Timer Installation

  1. Turn off the garden faucet.
  2. Wrap Teflon tape around the faucet thread.
  3. Screw the timer to the garden faucet, positioning it vertically to prevent rainwater accumulation and leakage into the interior.
  4. Wrap Teflon tape around the threads of the timer outlets.
  5. Screw the garden hoses to the timer outlets.
  6. Turn on the faucet after programming the timer.

Tips: If the connection between the timer and faucet/hose is loose or leaking, use more sealing tape. Ensure the filter is installed correctly and kept clean for better filtering effect. For optimal connection and operation, keep your smartphone near the timer (within 60 meters in open areas). Reduce distance if walls or bushes obstruct the signal.

3.5 Test Before Use

Congratulations on completing the setup! Test the internal valve of your water timer before use.

  1. Keep the faucet turned off.
  2. Press the left/right zone button on the timer. A "click" sound indicates the valve opens for manual watering. After a few seconds, press the button again; another "click" means the valve closes.
  3. Turn the faucet on slightly. Press the left/right zone button to check if water flows or shuts off as expected. If correct, the valves are normal. If not, repeat the steps.

The test is complete and normal. Keep the faucet fully turned on. Note: During testing, keep away from water outlets to avoid splashing.

4. APP Features and Functions

4.1 APP Home Screen

The app's home screen provides access to various functions:

  • All Devices: A list of all connected devices. Tap icons to access device operation pages for programming schedules.
  • Room Management: For organizing indoor automatic irrigation systems in different rooms.
  • Plan: View, customize, and enable/disable watering schedules. The "Rain Delay" function can be activated for 24, 48, or 72 hours.
  • Info: Check weather conditions (next 7 days) and the next watering time for connected devices.
  • Home Management: Customize home name, add family members, or add other homes for managing irrigation schedules across residences.
  • Add Devices: Add multiple RainPoint devices to create a smart home irrigation system.
  • Me: Access notifications (online/offline status, irrigation records, alerts), FAQs, user manuals, and report issues via "Help & Feedback". Connect to Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa for voice control. Adjust language and notification settings.

4.2 Device Home Page

This page displays the status and controls for a specific device.

  • Setting: Access device settings and watering customization via the gear icon (⚙️) in the top right corner.
  • Left Side Valve: Manage plans or manual watering for Zone 1 (Left).
  • Right Side Valve: Manage plans or manual watering for Zone 2 (Right).
  • Next Plan Time: Shows the scheduled time for the next watering cycle.
  • Irrigation Mode: Manual watering mode. Set watering time (1 min to 12h) and tap "Confirm" to start. Tap "Irrigation" and "Confirm" again to stop.
  • Interval Mode: Misting mode. Set watering time (1 min to 12h) and interval (1s to 60mins). Tap "Confirm" to start misting. Tap "Interval" and "Confirm" to stop.
  • Plan: Access the plan setup page to create up to 6 watering plans. "Rain Delay" can be set for 24/48/72 hours. Tap the calendar icon (?) to view your plan.

4.3 Basic Setting

Access the "Settings" page from the app's home screen (top right corner icon ⚙️) to manage device information (name, interface, description) and advanced settings.

  • Interval Irrigation: Configure mist time and interval for manual misting mode.
  • Default Duration Time: Set the default watering duration for manual irrigation mode.

4.4 Plan Setting

Create new auto-watering plans by selecting "Plan" and then the "+" icon on the "Irrigation Plan" page.

  • Watering Mode: Choose between "Irrigation Mode" (standard start time, duration, frequency) and "Interval Mode" (misting with customizable mist time and interval).
  • Start Time: Set the plan's start time.
  • Duration: Set the watering duration for the plan.
  • Repeat: Set the watering frequency (e.g., Everyday, or specific days).
  • Effective Date: Set the start date for the plan.

After setting up a plan, press the checkmark icon (✔️) to save it. The "Plan" page will show an overview, allowing you to turn plans on/off. Up to six plans can be created.

Plan Calendar: Tap the calendar icon (?) on the "Plan" page to view all watering schedules.

4.5 Manual Watering

Manually control watering directly from the app.

  • Manual Irrigation Mode: Tap "Irrigation" on the "Plan" page. Set the watering time (1 min to 12h) and tap "Confirm" to start. Tap "Irrigation" and "Confirm" again to stop.
  • Manual Interval Mode: Tap "Interval" on the "Plan" page. Set watering time (1 min to 12h) and interval (1s to 60mins) for misting. Tap "Confirm" to start. Tap "Interval" and "Confirm" to stop.

Note: Manual watering may skip scheduled plans if they overlap.

4.6 Weather Conditions & Devices' Next Plan Time

The "Info" screen displays weather forecasts and the next watering time for your devices.

  • To view weather, tap "Get Location" and then "Save" to set your location. The screen will show current and 7-day weather details (temperature, humidity, rain, wind).
  • Adjust location information via "Me" → "HOME Management" → "My Home" → "Location" → "Get Location" → "Save".
  • Weather information helps in adjusting watering schedules. Use the "Info" screen's top right icon to toggle weather display or manage device next plan times.

4.7 Plan Overview & Setting

On the "Plan" screen, review and adjust all set watering plans. You can easily enable or disable the "Rain Delay" feature for 24/48/72 hours.

4.8 Home Management

RainPoint supports adding family members and sharing devices for co-management of the home irrigation system.

  1. Tap "Me" on the app's home screen.
  2. Select "HOME Management" to set the current home or create a new one.
  3. Configure your HOME Name, Room or Zone, Location, Time Zone, Members, Units Format, and Currency.

4.9 Third-Party Voice Service

Control your WiFi water timer using voice commands with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.

To set up:

  1. Navigate to "Me" → "Third-party Voice Service".
  2. Tap "Google Assistant" or "Amazon Alexa" to access the operation guide for connecting your timer.

Note: Voice commands are limited to simple phrases like "turn on" or "turn off" and must be in English.

4.10 Reset The Device

How to reset the timer:

  1. Remove all batteries from the timer.
  2. Wait 10 seconds, then insert 4 fresh AA alkaline batteries.
  3. While inserting batteries, press and hold the timer's button until the LED indicator flashes quickly (2 times per second), indicating it has been restored to pairing mode.

How to reset the smart hub:

  1. Remove the smart hub from the outlet.
  2. Wait 10 seconds, then plug the smart hub back into the outlet.
  3. While plugging in, press and hold the hub's button until the LED indicator flashes quickly (2 times per second), indicating it has been restored to pairing mode.

4.11 The Meaning Of Led Light

LED indicator color of HTV210B Bluetooth Hose Timer:

  • Power-on reset: WHITE and RED lights on simultaneously for 1 second.
  • Factory reset: RED light on for 2s → RED & BLUE lights on simultaneously for 1s → RED light flashes rapidly for pairing → BLUE light on for 2s (successful pairing).
  • Irrigation mode (Normal state): WHITE light flashes once every 4 seconds, staying lit for 0.1 second.
  • Irrigation mode (Scheduled but unsynchronized time): RED light flashes once every 4 seconds, staying lit for 0.1 second.
  • Interval mode: WHITE light flashes twice every 4 seconds, staying lit for 0.1 second.
  • Low battery status: RED light flashes once every 3 seconds, staying lit for 0.1 second.

LED indicator color of HWG009WB Smart Hub:

  • Smart pairing status: BLUE LED light flashes fast (2 times per second).
  • AP pairing status: BLUE LED light flashes rapidly and then slowly.

5. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Factors Solution may help
Can't turn on/off the valve.
  • Low battery.
  • Impurities in water inlet.
  • Unstable network or delayed response.
  • Replace fresh batteries.
  • Regularly clean the filter port of impurities.
  • Wait a while and try again.
Timer won't connect.
  • Mobile phone Bluetooth is not kept open.
  • The distance between the phone and the water timer is too long.
  • Check if the cell phone Bluetooth is open.
  • Ensure the water timer is close to your phone.
  • Press the button until the red light flashes rapidly (or remove and reconnect the device).
Hub cannot connect.
  • Not using 2.4GHz WiFi.
  • Incorrect WiFi password.
  • Hub not in pairing mode.
  • Confirm 2.4GHz WiFi connection.
  • Confirm WiFi password is correct.
  • Press and hold the button on the timer until the blue LED indicator flashes quickly (restores pairing mode).
Plan not executed on time.
  • Impurities in the water inlet filter.
  • Rain delay function is on.
  • Conditions for automatically stopping the plan when it rains are set.
  • Low-power state causing protection mode.
  • No irrigation time/period parameters set.
  • Clear inlet impurities regularly.
  • Check and turn off the rain delay function.
  • Check and delete conditions for auto-stop due to rain.
  • Replace batteries with new ones.
  • Confirm irrigation time/period parameters are set.
Water inlet leakage.
  • No filter or filter not placed horizontally.
  • Faucet is not the standard 3/4" size.
  • Add a filter and ensure it's horizontal.
  • Make sure the faucet is 3/4".
  • Strengthen with Teflon tape.
Low water pressure.
  • Filter blockage.
  • Inlet pressure is not enough to support watering.
  • Check, clean, or replace the filter.
  • Ensure timer is installed properly and not cross-threaded.
  • Consider a booster pump or auxiliary equipment to increase water pressure.

6. Precautions

  1. For outdoor use with cold water only. Sheltered placement prolongs life.
  2. Tighten connections without tools to avoid damage.
  3. Place the filter horizontally in the water inlet to prevent leakage.
  4. Replace low batteries promptly to avoid operation interruption. Ensure the battery compartment is dry during replacement.
  5. Remove batteries and store the timer indoors when not in use.
  6. Do not use the timer outside the temperature range of 38°F (3°C) to 120°F (50°C).
  7. Do not subject the product to extreme force or shock.
  8. Avoid severe electrical shock; do not spray water into outlets or electrical sources. Never immerse the product in water.
  9. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.
  10. Install the timer vertically to the ground to prevent valve body damage.
  11. Under freezing temperatures, remove timers from the faucet and store indoors to prevent freezing damage.
  12. Clean filters regularly and replace if worn to prolong the timer's working life.

7. Warranty Policy

RainPoint offers a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Defective products found under reasonable use and service will be replaced free of charge by RainPoint. To extend and activate your warranty, email support@rainpointonline.com with your order ID; a response will be provided within 24 hours.
