PRUNUS J-908 Radio User Manual
Introduction
Thank you for choosing the PRUNUS J-908 Radio/MP3 Player. To get the best performance from your radio, please read this manual carefully before use, paying special attention to the maintenance section.
Maintenance
- Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period. Batteries left in electrical equipment can corrode and cause damage.
- Keep the radio dry and avoid using it in humid environments. Protect it from rain and use with caution in bathrooms and kitchens.
- Do not place potentially damaging items, such as liquid-filled containers or lit candles, on the radio. Keep the radio and battery pack away from heat sources like radiators, hot water pipes, or fires. Do not leave it in direct sunlight.
- Ensure that solvents like white spirit, paraffin, or petrol do not spill onto the radio. Keep it away from magnets and magnetic fields.
How to Make the Radio Stand
Insert the silver key (located on the end of the strap) into the jack socket on the bottom of the radio. The radio will now stand upright.
Functional Components
1. Power switch ON/OFF: Turns the device on and off.
2. Volume knob: Adjusts the audio volume.
3. DC 5V charging/AUX in jack: For charging the device or connecting an external audio source.
4. Charging indicator/LED flashlight: Indicates charging status and functions as a flashlight.
5. USB port: For connecting USB flash drives.
6. LED flashlight switch: Turns the LED flashlight on or off.
7. Earphone output: Jack for connecting headphones.
8. TF card slot: For inserting TF (microSD) cards.
9. Previous MP3/channel, rewind: Navigates to the previous track or channel; long press to rewind.
10. Play/Pause/Scan and memory radio channels: Plays/pauses music, scans for radio channels, and saves them.
11. Next MP3/channel, fast-forward: Navigates to the next track or channel; long press to fast-forward.
12. Repeat: Controls repeat modes (ONE, FOLD, ALL).
13. Mode switch (USB/TF/AUX/FM/AM): Cycles through different playback modes.
14. 0-9 number buttons: Used for direct channel/track selection and entering numbers.
15. Number 2/Next folder: Navigates to the next folder; used for long press to switch folders.
16. Number 1/Previous folder: Navigates to the previous folder; used for long press to switch folders.
17. Telescopic aerial: Extends for improved radio reception.
Power Supply
Charging method: Connect the larger end of the USB cable to a computer's USB port or a USB power adapter, and the smaller end to the 3 DC 5V charging/AUX in jack on the unit.
Charging indicator: The 4 Charging indicator/LED flashlight will light up RED while charging. Charging takes approximately 3-5 hours. The indicator turns GREEN when fully charged.
Notes:
- Use a standard DC5V/500-1000mAh charger to prevent damage to the radio. Compatible chargers can be found on Amazon by searching for "prunus adapter".
- Avoid overcharging; disconnect the charger once the battery is full.
Radio Reception
- Turn the 1 Power switch ON/OFF to the ON position.
- Press the 13 Mode switch to select FM or AM mode.
- Searching and Storing Channels:
- Automatic Search: Press and hold the 10 Play/Pause/Scan and memory radio channels button for 3 seconds to automatically search, store, and number available channels. The order cannot be changed manually.
- Manual Search: Use the 14 0-9 number buttons to tune into specific frequencies (e.g., pressing 8 + 9 + 8 tunes to 89.8 MHz).
- Selecting Stored Channels:
- Short press 9 Previous MP3/channel, rewind or 11 Next MP3/channel, fast-forward to cycle through stored channels.
- Use the 14 0-9 number buttons to directly select a channel by its number (e.g., 1 + 5 for the 15th channel). If the total number of channels is less than the entered number, the current channel will play.
- Adjust volume using the 2 Volume knob.
- Press the 10 Play/Pause/Scan and memory radio channels button to pause playback; press again to resume.
Notes:
- Extend and rotate the 17 Telescopic aerial for optimal FM/AM reception.
- For better reception indoors, place the radio near a window and away from electronic devices like computers, TVs, and refrigerators.
Music Playing
1. TF Card/Flash Drive Playback
- Turn the 1 Power switch ON/OFF to the ON position.
- Insert a TF card or USB flash drive containing MP3 files into the 8 TF card slot or 5 USB port. Playback starts automatically when MP3 files are detected.
- Adjust volume using the 2 Volume knob.
- Short press 9 Previous MP3/channel, rewind or 11 Next MP3/channel, fast-forward to select a song. Long press these buttons to rewind or fast-forward.
- Short press 10 Play/Pause/Scan and memory radio channels to pause the current track; press again to resume.
- Use the 14 0-9 number buttons to select a specific MP3 file by its number (e.g., 1 + 6 + 8 for the 168th MP3). If the total number of MP3 files is less than the entered number, the current MP3 will play.
- For repeat modes, press 12 Repeat:
- ONE: Repeats the current MP3.
- FOLD: Repeats all MP3s in the current folder.
- ALL: Repeats all MP3s.
- Long press 15 Number 2/Next folder or 16 Number 1/Previous folder to switch between folders.
- Press the 13 Mode switch to change to other modes (USB/TF/AUX/FM/AM).
Notes:
- The radio only reads MP3 files.
- Ensure TF cards/USB flash drives are formatted in FAT32. The radio cannot read NTFS formatted drives.
2. Playback via AUX
- Press the 13 Mode switch to select AUX mode.
- Connect one end of an AUX cable to the 3 DC 5V charging/AUX in jack on the radio and the other end to the headphone jack of your mobile phone or computer. Open your music software/app to play music.
- Adjust volume using the 2 Volume knob.
- Press the 10 Play/Pause/Scan and memory radio channels button to pause playback; press again to resume.
- Press the 13 Mode switch to change to other modes.
Note: In AUX mode, only the 2 Volume knob, 10 Play/Pause/Scan and memory radio channels, and 13 Mode switch are operational. Other buttons cannot be used.
Flashlight
The radio includes a flashlight (4 Charging indicator/LED flashlight) for emergency use. Press the 6 LED flashlight switch to turn the flashlight ON or OFF.
Human Body Induction
It is common for radios to experience a temporary decrease in reception when held, due to a phenomenon called "Human Body Induction." Reception may improve when the hand is moved away.
