Shark Rocket HV300 Vacuum Cleaner Owner's Guide

Model: HV300

For household use only

Important Safeguards

When using an electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be observed, including the following:

⚠️ WARNING: To Reduce the Risk of Fire, Electric Shock, or Injury

  1. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
  2. Unplug from electrical outlet when not in use and before servicing.
  3. Do not use the vacuum cleaner with a damaged cord or plug. If the vacuum cleaner is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to EURO-PRO Operating LLC for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  4. Do not pull or carry the vacuum cleaner by the cord or use the cord as a handle.
  5. Do not unplug by pulling on the cord; to unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
  6. Do not handle the plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
  7. Do not run the vacuum cleaner over the power cord, close a door on the cord, or pull the cord around sharp corners.
  8. The use of an extension cord is not recommended.
  9. Do not leave the vacuum cleaner plugged in.
  10. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
  11. Turn off all controls before plugging or unplugging the vacuum cleaner.
  12. Always turn off the vacuum cleaner before connecting or disconnecting the motorized nozzle.
  13. Store your vacuum cleaner with the power cord secured around the two cord holders – as shown in the storage instructions.

General Use

  1. Use only as described in this manual.
  2. Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
  3. Keep your work area well lit.
  4. Keep the vacuum cleaner moving over the carpet surface at all times to avoid damaging the carpet fibers.
  5. Do not place the vacuum cleaner on unstable surfaces such as chairs or tables.
  6. Do not allow young children to operate the vacuum cleaner or use as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
  7. Do not use without the dust cup and/or filters in place.

Wand Attachments

  1. Do not use if air flow is restricted; if the air paths, the wand, or the accessories become blocked, turn the vacuum cleaner off. Remove all obstructions before you turn on the unit again.
  2. Keep the end of the wand and accessory openings away from face and body.
  3. Keep cleaning tools and wand suction openings away from hair, face, fingers, uncovered feet, or loose clothing.
  4. Only use manufacturer's recommended attachments.

Dust Cup/Filters/Accessories

Before turning on the vacuum:

  1. Make sure that all filters are thoroughly dry after routine cleaning.
  2. Make sure that the dust cup and all filters are in place after routine maintenance.
  3. Make sure accessories are free of blockages.
  4. Only use filters and accessories provided by EURO-PRO Operating LLC. Failure to do so will void the warranty.

General Cleaning

  1. Do not pick up large-sized objects.
  2. Do not pick up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, or coins that could damage the vacuum cleaner.
  3. Do not pick up smoking or burning objects such as hot coals, cigarette butts, or matches.
  4. Do not pick up flammable or combustible materials such as lighter fluid, gasoline, or kerosene, or use the vacuum in areas where they may be present.
  5. Do not pick up toxic solutions such as chlorine bleach, ammonia, or drain cleaner.
  6. Do not use in an enclosed space where vapors are present from paint, paint thinner, moth-proofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic materials.
  7. Do not vacuum up any liquids.
  8. Do not immerse the vacuum cleaner in water or other liquids.
  9. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces; use only on dry surfaces.
  10. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

Polarized Plug

To reduce the risk of electric shock, this vacuum cleaner has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not force into the outlet or try to modify it to fit.

Assembly

The Shark Rocket HV300 vacuum cleaner is designed for easy assembly. Follow these steps:

  1. Insert the tube into the floor nozzle connector. You will hear a "CLICK" sound indicating it is securely connected.
  2. Insert the handheld portion into the top of the tube. You will hear a "CLICK" sound indicating it is securely connected.

The assembly process involves connecting the main components: the floor nozzle, the extension tube, and the handheld vacuum unit, ensuring each connection clicks into place for secure operation.

Floor Cleaning

This vacuum features a 2-speed POWER slider switch, optimized for various floor types:

  1. First Position (Slow Spin): Slide the POWER switch to the first position to clean bare floor surfaces and delicate area rugs. The brush roll will spin slowly to help with debris pick-up without damaging delicate surfaces.
  2. Second Position (Fast Spin): Slide the POWER switch to the second position to clean carpets. The brush roll will spin faster to help pick up debris embedded below the surface of carpets.

The power switch is located on the handheld unit, allowing easy access to switch between cleaning modes.

Above Floor Cleaning

The Shark Rocket HV300 offers versatility for cleaning above floors and in tight spaces, functioning both with the extension tube and as a handheld vacuum.

NOTE: Select cleaning accessories are included with this model. Additional accessories are available for purchase at www.sharkrocket.com or by calling 800.798.7398.

Storage

There are two recommended ways to store your Shark Rocket HV300 vacuum:

Option 1: Compact Storage

This method allows for compact storage of the vacuum when not in use.

  1. Press the colored button on the top of the tube and pull to separate it from the handheld portion of the vacuum.
  2. Locate the hook on the bottom of the handheld portion. Hook it onto the hanger that is on the bottom portion of the tube.
  3. Wrap the power cord around the two cord holders on the unit. The vacuum is now ready for compact storage, standing upright.

A visual representation shows the handheld unit detached and hooked onto the lower part of the tube, with the cord neatly wrapped.

Option 2: Wall Mount Storage

This method uses the included wall mount for convenient storage on a wall.

  1. Using a Philips head screwdriver, find a suitable spot on the wall where you would like to store the vacuum.
  2. Place each screw through the two holes in the wall mount and screw them into the wall.
  3. Locate the hook on the bottom of the handheld portion. Hook it onto the hanger that is on the wall mount.

If you have drywall, use the plastic anchors provided before screwing the wall mount in place for added stability.

Maintenance

Empty the Dust Cup

  1. Detach the handheld portion from the rest of the vacuum by pressing the colored button on the top of the tube and pulling it away from the handheld portion.
  2. Hold the dust cup over a garbage bag or can. Press the release button on the front of the dust cup. The bottom lid will open, allowing the debris to fall out.
  3. Clean the dust screen inside the dust cup as required.

A diagram shows the handheld unit detaching from the tube, followed by the dust cup being held over a bin with its bottom lid open, and finally an exploded view of the dust cup components including the foam and felt filters.

Clean the Filters

Refer to the cleaning schedule on page 2 for frequency.

  1. Access the filters by lifting the latch on the top of the handheld portion of the vacuum.
  2. Remove and rinse the foam and felt filters every 3 months. Let them air dry completely before replacing.
  3. Hand wash only. Tap loose dirt off filters between washes as needed.
  4. Insert the felt filter first and then place the foam filter on top of it.

Check for Blockages: Remove and Inspect

To ensure optimal performance, regularly check for and remove blockages.

Handheld and Tube

  1. Remove the tube from the handheld portion and check all dust cup intake openings for obstructions.
  2. Remove the floor nozzle from the tube and check the tube for blockages.

A diagram shows the handheld unit detached from the tube, with arrows pointing to areas to check for blockages, and the floor nozzle detached from the tube, with arrows indicating areas to inspect.

Bottom of Floor Nozzle

  1. Use a coin to unlock the 3 locks on the bottom of the floor nozzle.
  2. A portion of the base is removable to allow for better access to the brush roll and exposure to the airway.
  3. Shine a flashlight from the bottom to check for possible blockages in the airway.
  4. Remove any string, carpet fibers, or hair that may be wrapped around the brush roll. There is a groove on the brush bar that allows a pair of scissors to cut across it to loosen up the debris.
