Product Introduction

Background

The "Bigfoot" style of racing originated in North America in the 1980s, evolving from popular pick-up off-road mud racing. Initially an activity for car enthusiasts, it emphasized off-road driving and dragging. The need for chassis heightening and large-diameter tires became apparent for navigating muddy terrain. The spectacle of high mud splashes and the "violent aesthetic" led to heavily modified vehicles resembling monster trucks with huge tires.

Modern Bigfoot races are often held indoors and include racing, two-wheel tricks, and freestyle performances. The large tires provide exceptional passability, and with sufficient power, vehicles can perform jumps and even somersaults, offering a spectacular display.

About the Model: FMS 1:24 FCX24 MAX SMASHER

The FMS 1:24 MAX SMASHER utilizes the FCX24 chassis. It features large, hollow tires for excellent shock absorption. The two-speed gearbox, controlled via the third channel, delivers strong torque and supports high-speed off-road driving. Planetary gear differentials are standard on the front and rear axles, enhancing high-speed performance, posture simulation, and cornering. Straight axle parts are included for users who wish to replace the differentials, which will enhance climbing ability but reduce differential function. A hybrid setup (straight axle rear, differential front) is also an option.

A key feature is the portal axle, which, combined with the large tires, increases ground clearance and overall passability. Powered by a 130 brushed motor, the vehicle can perform dynamic maneuvers like "head raising" and "tail tilting." The body design replicates a first-generation American pickup truck, complete with detailed stickers and electroplated parts, evoking the spirit of that era.

Transmitter and Receiver Operation

Transmitter Overview

The transmitter utilizes a 2.4GHz AFHDS 2A-BS Automatic Frequency Hopping Digital System, comprising the FMS-G3 transmitter and FMS-R3A receiver. It supports two-way transmission and features 3 channels, compatible with various car models.

Transmitter Controls:

Receiver Overview

The receiver (FMS-R3A) connects to the model's components.

Receiver LED Status Indicators:

Interface Details:

All servo and car light interfaces use 1.25mm standard pins. The motor interface is a PH2.0 female interface.

Antenna Placement:

The antenna is external. Caution: Do not pull or tie the antenna with servo cables. Note: Keep the antenna at least 1cm away from conductive materials (like carbon fiber or metal) to maintain signal strength.

Getting Started

Transmitter Antenna

The transmitter has a built-in antenna that operates automatically when powered on.

Receiver and Servo Installation

Ensure the receiver is mounted in an appropriate location for a stable signal. Pay attention to the following:

Installing Transmitter Battery

Use only specified AAA batteries (4 required). Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries. A low battery alarm will sound when voltage drops below 4.2V.

Battery Precautions:

Operation Guide

Power-on Procedure

  1. Ensure batteries are fully charged and correctly installed in the transmitter.
  2. Toggle the transmitter's Power Switch to the [ON] position; the LED should illuminate steadily.
  3. Connect power to the receiver.

Note: For safety, always power on the transmitter before powering the receiver.

Transmitter LED Status

Binding

The transmitter and receiver are factory-bound. If replacement or additional receivers are needed:

  1. Turn on the transmitter while holding the BIND button. The LED will flash quickly. Release the BIND button.
  2. Power on the receiver. It will enter binding state if no connection is detected within 1 second.
  3. The receiver's LED will become solid, indicating successful binding.
  4. Verify functions. Repeat binding if necessary.

Note: If binding is not completed within ten seconds, the receiver LED will enter slow flashing state.

Stick Calibration

This function calibrates the neutral position for the throttle trigger and steering wheel. If recalibration is needed:

  1. Turn the steering wheel clockwise to its maximum travel point and push the throttle trigger forward to its maximum. Turn on the transmitter (enter calibration mode). A short beep will sound periodically.
  2. Turn the steering wheel to its maximum and minimum travel points (clockwise and counterclockwise). Push/pull the throttle trigger forward and backward to its maximum extent. The wheel and trigger will return to neutral. Press the BIND key to save and exit.

Successful calibration will exit calibration mode upon pressing BIND, indicated by a short beep. The transmitter enters standby mode (LED: three flashes, one off). Calibration failure means the BIND button will not exit the mode.

Power Off Procedure

  1. Disconnect the receiver power.
  2. Toggle the transmitter's Power Switch to the [OFF] position.

Danger: Always disconnect receiver power before turning off the transmitter to prevent damage or injury.

System Functions

Channel Description

The transmitter supports 3 channels:

Channel Reverse

Reverses the output direction of a channel:

Note: Be cautious with throttle channel reverse; the model may move at full speed.

Trim Setting

Adjusts the neutral position (trim) of a channel:

ST+/TH+ increases trim; ST-/TH- decreases trim. Range: -150µs to +150µs (5µs steps). A short beep confirms trim adjustment. Holding the button allows continuous adjustment. Two beeps occur when crossing neutral; a long beep at the endpoint.

D/R (Dual Rate) Setting

Adjusts the travel range (steering/throttle sensitivity) of a channel:

ST+/TH+ increases travel; ST-/TH- decreases travel. Range: 0-120% (default 100%, 5% steps). A short beep confirms adjustment. Holding the button allows continuous adjustment. A long beep sounds at the endpoint.

Failsafe Setting

Protects the model and personnel during loss of control. In failsafe, CH2 defaults to brake mode. The receiver normally holds the last channel value. To set failsafe: press and hold the BIND button for 3 seconds during normal operation. The current channel value becomes the failsafe value, confirmed by a long beep. Failsafe settings reset to default upon re-binding.

Reset Data

Resets transmitter parameters to default values. Press and hold BIND and REV keys, then turn the POWER key to [ON]. A long beep confirms the reset. Failsafe, binding, and stick calibration are not reset.

Idle Alarm

The transmitter enters idle alarm state after 10 minutes of inactivity. The LED will show a gradual light, and the buzzer will beep twice periodically. Any control input cancels the alarm.

Sleep Mode

After 2 minutes in idle alarm state, the transmitter enters sleep mode. The LED shows gradual light, buzzer and RF are off. The transmitter enters low-power mode and becomes unresponsive. To exit, power off and restart the transmitter.

Low Voltage Alarm

When transmitter voltage drops below 4.2V, a low voltage alarm activates. The LED shows gradual status, and the buzzer sounds briefly. For safety, RF is turned off when battery voltage is below 3.5V.

Offline Prompt

If the transmitter detects the bound receiver has turned off or disconnected for over 2 seconds, the transmitter LED will flash three times and turn off. The prompt state exits when the receiver information is received again.

FMS-R3A Receiver Instructions

Attentions

Protect Function

The receiver has low voltage and overheating protection:

Car Light Control

When the receiver and transmitter are connected, press the BIND button to turn the car light on or off. The default state is off.

Failsafe

The receiver supports failsafe, which is configured on the transmitter side. Refer to the "Failsafe Setting" section for details.
