Step 1: Hardware Connections
Follow these steps to connect your Zyxel PMG1005-T20C:
- Connect the fiber optic cable to the PON port. Warning! To avoid possible eye injury, do not look into an operating fiber optic module's connector.
- Connect a computer to the LAN port using the provided Ethernet cable.
- Connect the power cord to the PMG1005-T20C and press the power button.
- Verify that the LEDs are on and check their status.
LED Indicator Table
LED | Status | Description |

POWER | Green (On) | Power on and system is ready. |
POWER | Off | Power off. |
PON | Green (On) | Successful GPON fiber link. |
PON | Blinking | Synchronizing with OLT (fiber terminal). |
PON | Off | The fiber link is down. Restart the PMG1005-T20C. |
LOS (Loss of Signal) | Red (On) | Not receiving an optical signal. Reconnect the fiber optic cable to the PON port. |
LOS (Loss of Signal) | Red (Blinking) | Receiving a weak optical signal. Reposition the PMG1005-T20C. |
LOS (Loss of Signal) | Off | Receiving a normal optical signal. |
LAN | Green (On) | Successful Ethernet link. |
LAN | Green (Blinking) | Transmitting/Receiving data on the Ethernet link. |
LAN | Off | Ethernet connection is down. Reconnect the Ethernet cable to the LAN port. |
Configuration (Optional)
To change the admin password, view traffic statistics, upload new firmware, or reset to factory defaults, access the web configurator:
- Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.1.1.
- Enter the default User Name: admin.
- Enter the default Login Password: XXXX (refer to the device label).
- Click Login.
The login screen typically shows fields for "User Name" and "Password", with a "Login" button. The device label will display the specific default password.
Wall Mounting (Optional)
To mount the device on a wall:
- Drill two holes approximately 54 mm apart.
- Insert screw anchors and screws (not provided) into the holes.
- Hang the PMG1005-T20C onto the screws. Ensure the screws are securely fastened.
Note: Mounting dimensions are provided in millimeters (mm). Recommended screw size is M4x30 mm.
Troubleshooting
The PMG1005-T20C doesn't turn on.
- Ensure the power cable is securely connected and the power button has been pressed.
- Verify the power adapter is plugged into a working power outlet.
I cannot see or access the Login screen in the Web Configurator.
- Confirm your computer has an IP address within the same subnet as the PMG1005-T20C. For the default IP (192.168.1.1), your computer's IP should be between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.254. Consult your computer's help for IP configuration.
- Double-check that you are using the correct IP address (default is 192.168.1.1).
- If the IP address was changed and forgotten, reset the device to factory defaults.
- Ensure your web browser does not block pop-up windows and has JavaScript enabled.
- Verify the User Name and Login Password are entered correctly. Use the default 'admin' and the password found on the device label.
- If you changed the password and cannot recall it, use a pin to press and hold the RESET button for more than 5 seconds to restore factory defaults, including the default admin password.
I cannot access the Internet.
- Check all hardware connections and the status of the LEDs.
- If the PON LED is off, restart the PMG1005-T20C.
- Inspect the fiber optic cable for loose connections or damage. Contact your vendor for replacement if necessary.
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting all cables to the PMG1005-T20C.
