Important Safety Precautions

General Safety: Special attention should be paid when using this test and measurement instrument, as improper usage may cause electric shock and damage the equipment.

  • Use proper measurement category (CAT), voltage, and amperage rated probes, test leads, and adapters for the measurement.
  • Do not use or store the device around explosive gas, vapor, or under high temperature and humidity.
  • When handling test probes and crocodile clips, keep your fingers behind the physical guard.
  • Examine the measuring test leads before use. If any part of the insulation is deteriorated (even partially), replace them with proper functional test leads.
  • Connect the common test lead before the live test lead, and remove the live test lead before the common test lead.
  • Before measuring current, ensure the instrument's fuses are available and disconnect the power supply to the circuit being tested.
  • Remove batteries if the device is not used for an extended period or is stored in temperatures above 45°C to prevent battery leakage damage.

Measurement Connections

Single-Phase Measurement

Description: For single-phase measurements, connect the voltage leads to the V~ and COM/VΩ terminals. Place the clamp jaw around a single conductor. The meter can then measure Voltage (V~) or Frequency (Hz).

Connections:

  • Connect the black test lead to the COM/VΩ terminal.
  • Connect the red test lead to the V~ terminal.
  • Connect the other ends of the test leads to the power source (e.g., Live and Neutral).
  • Open the clamp jaw and place it around one conductor of the circuit.
  • Select the appropriate function (V~ or A~) and range on the meter.

Single-Phase Power (kW) Measurement

Description: For measuring single-phase power (kW). Connect the voltage leads to the V~ and COM/VΩ terminals. Place the clamp jaw around the live conductor. Select the 'kW 1 PHASE' function.

Connections:

  • Connect the black test lead to the COM/VΩ terminal.
  • Connect the red test lead to the V~ terminal.
  • Connect the other ends of the test leads to the power source (e.g., Live and Neutral).
  • Open the clamp jaw and place it around the live conductor.
  • Select the kW 1 PHASE function.

3-Phase 3-Line Balanced Power (kW) Measurement

Description: For measuring three-phase power (kW) in a balanced 3-line system. Connect the voltage leads to V1, V3, and COM/VΩ terminals. Place the clamp jaw around one of the phase conductors (e.g., Φ1). Select the 'kW/Ø 3 PHASE' function.

Connections:

  • Connect the black test lead to the COM/VΩ terminal.
  • Connect the red test lead to the V3 terminal.
  • Connect the other ends of the test leads to two phases of the power source (e.g., V1 and V3).
  • Open the clamp jaw and place it around one of the phase conductors (e.g., Φ1).
  • Select the kW/Φ 3 PHASE function.

3-Phase 4-Line Power (kW) Measurement

Description: For measuring three-phase power (kW) in a 4-line system (including neutral). Connect the voltage leads to V1, V3, and COM/VΩ terminals. Place the clamp jaw around one of the phase conductors (e.g., Φ1). Select the 'kW 3 PHASE' function.

Connections:

  • Connect the black test lead to the COM/VΩ terminal.
  • Connect the red test lead to the V3 terminal.
  • Connect the other ends of the test leads to the power source phases and neutral (e.g., V1, V3, and Neutral).
  • Open the clamp jaw and place it around one of the phase conductors (e.g., Φ1).
  • Select the kW 3 PHASE function.

RS232C Data Output Connection

Description: To connect the meter to a computer for data transfer, use the RS232C port on the meter and an appropriate cable to link it to the computer's serial port.

Connections:

  • Connect the RS232C port on the meter to the computer using an appropriate RS232 cable.
  • Install necessary software on the computer.
  • Select the RS232C function on the meter.
