RDS (Radio Data System)
This unit features an integrated RDS decoder that supports stations transmitting RDS data. It allows automatic switching to the best reception frequency (AF switching) and can receive traffic announcements (TA) or program type (PTY) information from RDS stations.
Press and hold the volume knob to enter the setting menu. Briefly press the volume knob to select an item, then rotate it to choose the desired setting:
AF (ON/OFF) | TA (ON/OFF) | EON (ON/OFF) | PTY (PTY OFF/ MUSIC/ SPEECH) | TA SEEK/ TA ALARM | PI SOUND/ PI MUTE
- Alternative Frequency (AF): When AF switching is active, the radio scans for stronger alternative frequencies. When a stronger signal is found, it switches for a short time, displaying the new frequency. (Flashing AF indicates searching for a stronger RDS station).
- Traffic Alarm (TA): In TA standby mode, traffic announcements are received with priority. If TA mode is off, traffic announcements are cancelled and the unit returns to TA standby.
- TA SEEK/ TA ALARM: TA SEEK automatically retunes to stations with TP information if the current station loses it. TA ALARM disables automatic retuning and only outputs an alarm beep for traffic information.
- PI SOUND/ PI MUTE: These modes manage audio output during potential signal fluctuations (DIP) related to PI codes.
- EON (Enhanced Other Networks Information): Allows local stations to interrupt national broadcasts for traffic announcements.
- DX / LOCAL: DX receives both distant and local stations; LOCAL receives only local stations.
- STEREO / MONO: FM listening is usually in Stereo. Switching to Mono can improve sound quality with weak signals.
- Program Type Selection (PTY): Allows searching for stations based on program type (e.g., POP, ROCK, NEWS).
