1. Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the JBL BAR 300MK2, designed to provide an extraordinary 3D sound experience for your home entertainment system. We encourage you to spend a few minutes reading this manual carefully, which describes the product and includes step-by-step instructions for setup and use.
To take advantage of the product's features and support, it may be necessary to update the product's software via the internet in the future. Refer to the software update section in this manual to ensure the product has the latest version.

With the JBL One app, you can:
- Easily set up the product.
- Connect to music streaming services*.
- Discover new music with integrated music services.
- Access software updates when available.
- Customize audio settings.
- Access additional features.

2. What's Included
Open the box carefully and ensure the following items are included. If any item is damaged or missing, do not use it and contact your dealer or a customer service representative.

3. Product Description
3.1 Soundbar
3.1.1 Front and Top Panel

- 1) Status Indicator: Shows system status (normal startup, software update, factory reset) and network connection status (Wi-Fi setup, Wi-Fi connected, weak Wi-Fi).
- 2) -/+ (Volume): Press to decrease or increase volume. Press and hold both buttons simultaneously to mute/unmute. Press and hold both buttons for over 10 seconds to enter Wi-Fi setup mode.

3.1.2 Rear Panel

- 1) / POWER: Connect to power using the supplied power cable.
- 2) USB: USB connector for software update (service only). Connect a USB storage device for MP3 playback (US version only).
- 3) HDMI / HDMI IN: Connect to the HDMI output of your digital device.

- HDMI / HDMI OUT: Connect to the HDMI ARC / HDMI eARC input on your TV.
- OPTICAL / OPTIQUE / OPTICAL: Connect to the optical output of your TV or digital device.
3.2 Remote Control

- 1) : Turn on or standby.
- 2) +/-: Adjust volume up or down. Press and hold for continuous volume adjustment.
- 3) / (Mute): Mute/unmute sound.
- 4) Sound Effect Buttons: Turn virtual Dolby Atmos sound effects on or off (default: on). Select bass level (LVL1 to LVL5, default: LVL3).
- 5) / CALIBR: Initiate sound calibration.
- 6) (Moment): Access music playback lists or soundbar settings customized in the JBL One app.
- 7) Source Selectors:
- TV: Selects the TV source (default).
- (Bluetooth): Selects the Bluetooth source. Press and hold for over 3 seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing mode.
- HDMI: Selects the HDMI IN source.
4. Placement
4.1 Desk Placement
Place the product on a flat, stable surface. Refer to the diagram for recommended distances.

4.2 Wall Mounting
Instructions for wall mounting:
- Preparation: Place the provided wall mounting template on the wall using adhesive tapes. Use the tip of a ballpoint pen to mark the screw bracket locations, then remove the template. Drill a 4 mm / 0.16" hole at the marked location.
- Install the bracket for the wall mounting support.
- Attach the mounting bracket to the bottom of the soundbar using screws.
- Install the soundbar.
NOTES:
- Ensure the wall can support the soundbar's weight.
- Install only on a vertical wall.
- Avoid locations with high temperature or humidity.
- Ensure cables can be properly connected between the soundbar and external devices before mounting.
- Ensure the soundbar is disconnected from power before wall mounting to prevent electric shock.
5. Connecting
5.1 Connecting to TV and Digital Devices
To play sound through the soundbar, connect it to your TV using the supplied HDMI cable or an optical cable (sold separately). An HDMI connection supports digital audio and video through a single connection and is the preferred option.
NOTES:
- When both HDMI and optical cables are connected for TV audio output, the HDMI connection has priority.
- Full compatibility with all HDMI-CEC devices is not guaranteed.
- The HDMI cable (for digital device connection) and optical cable are sold separately.
5.1.1 TV (HDMI eARC)
Recommended connection for the best Dolby Atmos experience.
NOTES:
- To play audio from a digital device connected to the TV, select the TV source (see "7.2 Playback from TV Source").
- With Virtual Dolby Atmos, the soundbar's Dolby surround upmixer can expand channel-based audio from Dolby Digital formats, including 5.1 and 7.1 content, for an immersive 3D Atmos experience.

5.1.2 TV (HDMI ARC)

- Connect the soundbar to your TV using the supplied HDMI cable. Ensure HDMI-CEC and HDMI eARC/ARC are enabled on your TV (refer to TV manual).
- Use a V2.0 or later HDMI cable to connect your TV to a digital device (streaming device, set-top box, DVD/Blu-ray player, game console). Ensure HDMI-CEC is enabled on the digital device. Set audio output to "Bitstream" or "Raw data" for the best Dolby Atmos experience.
NOTES:
- To play audio from a digital device connected to the soundbar, select the HDMI IN source (see "7.3 Playback from HDMI IN Source").
- If your TV does not support HDMI eARC, connect your digital device via the soundbar's HDMI/HDMI IN connector instead of your TV. Otherwise, Dolby Atmos information cannot be transmitted through HDMI (ARC) connectors to the soundbar.
5.1.3 Optical

- Connect the soundbar to your TV with an optical cable.
- Use an HDMI cable (V2.0 or later) to connect your TV to your digital device.
NOTE:
- To play audio via the optical cable, select the TV source (see "7.2 Playback from TV Source").
5.2 Connecting to Your Bluetooth Device
Connect the soundbar to a Bluetooth device like a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

5.2.1 Connecting a Bluetooth Device
- To select the Bluetooth source, press the Bluetooth button on the soundbar or remote. The display shows "BT PAIRING".
- On your Bluetooth device, activate Bluetooth and search for "JBL BAR 300MK2" within three minutes. The display shows "BT CONNECTED" upon successful connection, accompanied by a confirmation sound.
5.2.2 Reconnecting the Last Paired Device
The Bluetooth device is saved as a paired device when the soundbar enters standby mode. The next time you switch to Bluetooth source, the soundbar will automatically reconnect to the last paired device.
5.2.3 Connecting Another Bluetooth Device
- On the Bluetooth source, press and hold the Bluetooth button on the soundbar or remote until "BT PAIRING" is displayed. The soundbar enters Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Follow Step 2 in "5.2.1 Connecting a Bluetooth Device".
NOTES:
- If the device has already been paired with the soundbar, first unpair "JBL BAR 300MK2" on the device.
- The Bluetooth connection will be lost if the distance between the soundbar and the Bluetooth device exceeds 10 m / 33 ft.
- Certain electronic devices may cause radio interference. Keep devices that generate electromagnetic waves away from the soundbar, such as microwaves and wireless LAN devices.
5.3 Connecting to Your Home Network
With the JBL One app and supported streaming services (Google Cast, AirPlay, and Spotify Connect), the soundbar allows you to stream audio from smartphones or tablets.

- 1. On the soundbar, access Wi-Fi setup mode: Press any button to turn on the unit. If the soundbar has not been connected to a network, the display shows "HELLO" and then "SETUP WIFI".
- 2. Connect your Android™ or iOS device to your home Wi-Fi network. Download the JBL One app.
- 3. Launch the JBL One app. Follow the app's instructions to complete Wi-Fi setup.
NOTES:
- If the soundbar is not detected by the JBL One app, press and hold the + and - buttons simultaneously for over 10 seconds to re-enter Wi-Fi setup mode.
- On your Android or iOS device, you can rename the soundbar in the JBL One app.
- On your iOS device, add the soundbar to the Apple Home app and manage it with other AirPlay-compatible speakers.
- On your iOS device, if the soundbar has been added to your home Wi-Fi network, you can initiate AirPlay streaming from an AirPlay-compatible app (see "7.5.2 Playback via AirPlay").
- Availability of online music streaming services varies by country.
- Some features require subscriptions or services that are not available in all countries.
6. Setup
6.1 Power Connection
Connect the soundbar to power using the supplied power cable. The display on the soundbar shows "LOAD" and then "HELLO".
NOTES:
- Use only the supplied power cable.
- Before connecting to power, ensure all other connections are made (see "5.1 Connecting to TV and Digital Devices").
6.2 3D Surround Sound
6.2.1 Sound Calibration
Optimize your 3D surround sound experience for your unique listening environment.
- On the remote, press CALIBR to start calibration. The soundbar displays "CALIBRATION".
- When "PRESS AGAIN TO CONFIRM" is displayed, press CALIBR again.
A countdown starts from 5 to 1. A calibration sound is heard, and automatic calibration begins.
NOTES:
- "CALIBRATING": Calibration in progress.
- "DONE": Calibration completed successfully.
- During sound calibration, all remote buttons are disabled except CALIBR.
- During sound calibration, ambient sound will be recorded. Press and hold CALIBR for over 10 seconds, then press to play the recorded audio (US version only).
6.2.2 Dolby Atmos
With virtual Dolby Atmos, enjoy height sound effects when playing movies via the TV / HDMI IN source.

- Connect and play your Blu-ray player or streaming device as described in "5.1 Connecting to TV and Digital Devices".
- Press the Dolby Atmos button on the remote to enable or disable Dolby Atmos sound effects (default: on).
NOTES:
- If you do not want any height sound effects during viewing or listening, turn off Dolby Atmos effects.
- Dolby Atmos sound effects apply only to Dolby Atmos audio content.
6.2.3 Bass Adjustment
You can adjust bass levels as needed.
- On the remote, press BASS to cycle through bass levels. The levels "LVL1" to "LVL5" are displayed (default: "LVL3").
7. Playback
7.1 Power On / Auto Standby / Auto Wake
7.1.1 Power On
To turn on, press any button on the soundbar or the remote.
7.1.2 Auto Standby Mode
If the soundbar is inactive for more than 10 minutes, it automatically enters standby mode. The display shows "STDBY". The next time you turn on the soundbar, it will return to the last selected source.
7.1.3 Auto Wake
In standby mode, the soundbar automatically activates when:
- The soundbar is connected to the TV via HDMI eARC/ARC and the TV is turned on.
- The soundbar is connected to the TV and a digital device (like a set-top box, DVD/Blu-ray player, or game console) via HDMI cables, and the digital device is turned on.
- The soundbar is connected to your home network and audio is streamed to the soundbar via music streaming services.
7.2 Playback from TV Source
With the soundbar connected, you can enjoy TV audio output through the soundbar.

- Ensure your TV is configured to support external speakers and that the TV's built-in speakers are muted. Refer to your TV's user manual for details.
- Ensure the soundbar is properly connected to the TV (see "5.1 Connecting to TV and Digital Devices").
- To select the TV source, press the TV button on the soundbar or remote. The display shows "TV". (Factory default is TV source).
NOTE:
- If the soundbar is connected to the TV via both HDMI and optical cables, the HDMI source is selected for TV connection.
7.2.1 TV Remote Control Setup
To use your TV remote with the soundbar, ensure your TV supports HDMI-CEC. If your TV does not support HDMI-CEC, follow the steps in "TV Remote Learning".
HDMI-CEC
If your TV supports HDMI-CEC, enable the functions as instructed in your TV's user manual. You can control "volume +/-, mute/unmute, and power on/standby" functions on the soundbar using your TV remote.
TV Remote Learning
Through TV learning, you can program the soundbar to accept commands from your TV remote and then use your TV remote for simple commands.
- On the soundbar, press and hold the TV and + buttons simultaneously until "LEARNING" is displayed. The soundbar enters TV remote learning mode.
- Point your TV remote at the soundbar. Follow the on-screen instructions to use your TV remote buttons:
- When "POWER", "VOL+", "VOL-", or "MUTE" is displayed on the soundbar, press the corresponding button on your TV remote.
- "DONE": These commands are learned by the soundbar. The soundbar returns to the last selected source.
- To exit TV remote learning mode, press and hold the TV and + buttons on the soundbar until "EXIT LEARNING" appears. Memorized functions will be discarded.
NOTE:
- The soundbar will automatically exit TV remote learning mode if there is no activity for 30 seconds. Memorized functions will be discarded.
7.3 Playback from HDMI IN Source
With the soundbar connected as shown, your digital device can play video on your TV and audio from the soundbar.

- Ensure the soundbar is properly connected to your TV and digital device (see "5.1 Connecting to TV and Digital Devices").
- Turn on your digital device. Your TV and soundbar will wake from standby and automatically switch to the source input.
NOTE:
- To select the HDMI IN source on the soundbar, press the HDMI button on the soundbar or remote.
- Full compatibility with all HDMI-CEC devices is not guaranteed.
7.4 Playback from Bluetooth Source
Stream audio playback from your Bluetooth device to the soundbar via Bluetooth.

- To select the Bluetooth source, press the Bluetooth button on the soundbar or remote.
- Ensure the soundbar is properly connected to the Bluetooth device (see "5.2 Connecting to Your Bluetooth Device").
- Start audio playback on the Bluetooth device.
- Adjust the volume on the soundbar, remote, or your Bluetooth device.
7.5 Playback via Your Home Network
NOTES:
- The soundbar supports audio streaming, but not video streaming.
- During Wi-Fi music streaming, music playback on the currently connected device will be interrupted when you start music playback on a second connected device.
Before you start, ensure:
- Your Android or iOS device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the soundbar (see "5.3 Connecting to Your Home Network").
7.5.1 Playback with Google Cast
With Google Cast, stream audio from your Android or iOS device to the soundbar.

- On your Android or iOS device:
- Launch the JBL One app and ensure Google Cast is enabled.
- In a Google Cast-compatible app, play music, tap the cast icon, and select the connected soundbar.
7.5.2 Playback via AirPlay
Stream audio from your iOS device to the soundbar via AirPlay.
On your iOS device:
- Swipe down from the top-right corner to access Control Center.
- Tap the AirPlay icon to select multiple connected speakers as needed.
- Start music streaming from an app.
7.5.3 Playback via JBL One App
Through the JBL One app, stream audio via activated music services to the soundbar.
On your Android or iOS device:
- Launch the JBL One app, browse the music streaming services to select music, and then start music streaming to the connected soundbar.
NOTE:
- *A subscription may be required and is not provided by the JBL One app.
Access Your Presets with the (Moment) Button
- 1. In the JBL One app: Personalize the (Moment) functionality.
- 2. On the soundbar: Press the (Moment) button on the remote to access your personalized music playback list and soundbar settings.
7.6 Multi-room Playback
With multi-room playback, you can play music from your Android or iOS device on multiple soundbars with Google Cast/AirPlay.
7.6.1 Google Cast
- Through the Google Home app, connect multiple Google Cast-compatible soundbars to the same network, assign them to different rooms, and create groups as needed.
- Run a Google Cast-compatible app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Play music. Press the cast icon and select the associated speakers.
NOTES:
- To create a multi-room soundbar group, in the Google Home app, ensure all soundbars are connected to the same home network and you are using the same Google login account. Refer to the Google Home app for more details.
- Depending on your local network bandwidth, you can play music on up to 6 soundbars with Google Cast enabled.
7.6.2 AirPlay
- On an iOS device, enter Control Center.
- Tap the AirPlay icon to select multiple connected speakers as needed.
- Start music streaming from an app.
8. Advanced Usage
8.1 Sound Settings (Audio Sync)
With the audio sync function, you can synchronize audio with video to ensure there is no delay in video content.
- On the remote, press and hold the TV button for more than 3 seconds, then press +. The display shows "SYNC".
- Within 5 seconds, press + or - on the remote to adjust the audio delay to match the video. Audio synchronization is displayed.
NOTE:
- Audio delay can also be adjusted via the JBL One app.
8.2 Factory Reset
To restore factory settings, press and hold the E, +, and - buttons for more than 5 seconds. The display shows "RESET". When factory reset is complete, the soundbar will turn off and restart automatically.
8.3 Software Update
Connect the soundbar to your home network. Online updates will occur automatically when software updates are available.
- "WAIT": Software update in progress.
- "DONE": Software update completed.

10. Troubleshooting
Never attempt to repair the product yourself. If you experience problems while using this product, check the following points before requesting service.
System
- Unit does not turn on.
- Check if the power cable is connected to the power source and the soundbar.
- Soundbar does not respond when buttons are pressed.
- Restore the soundbar to factory settings (see "8.2 Factory Reset").
Sound
- No sound emitted from the soundbar
- Ensure the soundbar is not muted.
- Select the correct audio source input on the remote.
- Ensure the soundbar is properly connected to the TV or other devices.
- Restore the soundbar to factory settings (see "8.2 Factory Reset").
- Distorted sound or echo
- If playing TV audio through the soundbar, ensure the TV sound is muted or the TV's built-in speakers are turned off.
- Audio and video are out of sync
- Enable the audio sync function to synchronize audio and video (see "8.1 Sound Settings (Audio Sync)").
- No Dolby Atmos height sound effects
- If your TV supports HDMI ARC only, ensure you have connected your digital device to the soundbar via the soundbar's HDMI/HDMI IN connector (see "5.1.2 TV (HDMI ARC)").
- Enjoy Dolby Atmos sound effects when playing movies from the TV/HDMI source. For audio streaming via Bluetooth or streaming apps (enabled by Google Cast or AirPlay), Dolby Atmos is not supported.
Bluetooth
- Cannot connect a device to the soundbar
- Check if Bluetooth is enabled on the device.
- If the soundbar has been paired with another Bluetooth device, reset Bluetooth (see "5.2.3 Connecting Another Bluetooth Device").
- If your Bluetooth device has already been paired with the soundbar, reset Bluetooth on the soundbar, unpair the soundbar on the Bluetooth device, and then re-pair the Bluetooth device with the soundbar (see "5.2.3 Connecting Another Bluetooth Device").
- Poor audio quality from a Bluetooth device
- Bluetooth reception is weak. Move the source device closer to the soundbar or remove any obstacles between the source device and the soundbar.
- Connected Bluetooth device connects and disconnects constantly
- Bluetooth reception is weak. Move the source device closer to the soundbar or remove any obstacles between the source device and the soundbar.
Wi-Fi
- Fails to establish connection with Wi-Fi
- Ensure Wi-Fi is turned on.
- Ensure you have selected the correct network and entered the correct password.
- Ensure the router or modem is turned on and within range.
- In your router settings, ensure the security type is set to WPA2 or automatic.
- Ensure the soundbar is connected to the same wireless LAN as your smartphone or tablet.
- If you have difficulty with Wi-Fi setup, re-enter Wi-Fi setup mode by pressing and holding the + and - buttons on the soundbar until "SETUP WIFI" is displayed.
Playback
- AirPlay cannot detect the soundbar as an AirPlay speaker for music streaming.
- On your Apple device, update the software to the latest version: iOS 13.4 and later, macOS 10.15.4 and later, or tvOS 14.3.
- Ensure your Apple device is connected to the same network as the soundbar.
- For a PC with iTunes for Windows, you can stream music from your PC to the soundbar via Bluetooth.
- Music playback is not perfect when the sound source switches from Bluetooth to Google Cast or AirPlay.
- The quality of audio streaming and playback depends on the network traffic and coverage connecting the soundbar to your streaming devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, and PCs.
- Music playback does not resume when the sound source switches from Bluetooth to TV/HDMI IN and then back to Bluetooth.
- Music playback on the Bluetooth device stops when the sound source switches from Bluetooth to TV/HDMI IN. When switching back to the Bluetooth source, restart music playback on the Bluetooth device.
Remote Control
- The remote control does not work.
- Check if the batteries are depleted. If so, replace them with new ones.
- Reduce the distance and angle between the remote control and the main unit.
- Fails to complete TV remote learning.
- Check if you are using an infrared TV remote. TV learning is not supported by a Bluetooth TV remote.
