Alphacool NexXxoS GPX-N 760-M03 Installation Guide
This guide provides instructions for installing the Alphacool NexXxoS GPX-N 760-M03 graphics card cooler.
Important Notes
- Hardware and Cooling System Check: Before installation, ensure your hardware and cooling system (tightness, pump function, fans) are operational. This minimizes troubleshooting time. Alphacool is not liable for manufacturer warranties on electronic components. Installation is at your own risk.
- Screw Tightening: Do not overtighten screws. Overtightening can loosen mounting bolts, preventing uniform cooler contact.
- Connector Installation: It is recommended not to use tools like wrenches for fastening connections. Connectors with 8mm thread length may restrict flow.
- Leak Test: A leak test is recommended before assembling or installing the cooler.
- Contact Verification: Ensure the cooler makes contact with all components to be cooled using thermal grease and thermal pads. The provided image shows the expected imprint on a GPU.
Installation Steps
-
Step 1: Disassembly and Cleaning
Place the hardware on an antistatic mat. Begin by dismantling the original cooler. Remove fan screws and release any covers. Exercise extreme caution with coolers attached by thermal glue, as components can be easily damaged. Carefully collect all original parts. Clean the hardware of thermal paste or pad residue using a solvent (e.g., alcohol).
-
Step 2: Apply Thermal Paste
Using a plastic strip or thermal paste spreader, apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the GPU. The layer should be less than a millimeter thick to avoid contaminating surrounding components.
-
Step 3: Apply Thermal Pads
Remove the protective film from the thermal pads. Place the 15mm x 15mm x 1.5mm pads on the memory chips. The 30mm x 30mm x 1.5mm pads are for the voltage converters and may need to be trimmed to size. Remember to remove the protective film from both sides of all pads.
-
Step 4: Mount the Cooler
Mount the assembled cooler onto the graphics card as shown in the image. If there is a protective film on the cooler's base, remove it now. Clean the contact surfaces on the cooler's base with alcohol or a similar agent to ensure they are free of contaminants.
-
Step 5: Apply Rear Thermal Pads
Cut the yellow thermal pads as shown in the image for the backplate. Place these on the rear side of the voltage converters and the GPU. Ensure protective film is removed from both sides.
-
Step 6: Install Backplate
Place the backplate onto the graphics card as depicted. Apply gentle pressure for optimal contact between the backplate, cooler, and graphics card.
-
Step 7: Final Assembly and Tightening
Screw the cooler together. Finger-tighten the screws with one turn each, following a cross pattern. Refer to the instructions for specific guidance. After approximately 12 hours of graphics card usage, re-tighten all screws.
Safety Information
- Not suitable for children under 6 years (contains small, swallowable parts).
- Never operate cooling components without ensuring coolant flow. Coolers without coolant can overheat and cause burns or damage computer hardware. Always verify the pump is functioning when the hardware is powered on.
- Do not use tools (wrenches, pliers, etc.) to tighten connectors. Plastic or metal threaded connections can be easily overloaded, leading to cracks or damage. Coolant leaks resulting from improper tightening are not covered by the warranty. Use connectors with sealing rings, which only require hand-tightening. Tools may only be used if explicitly indicated in the manual.
