Alphacool GPX-A Fury M02 Installation Manual
This guide provides instructions for installing the Alphacool GPX-A Fury M02 graphics card cooler.
Included Components
- 8x M3x12 screws
- 3x M3x8 screws
- 5x Thermal pads (30mm x 30mm x 1.5mm)
- 2x Thermal pads (30mm x 30mm x 3mm)
- 2x Washers (SW 2/SW 2.5)
- 3x Thermal pads (dimensions vary, see cutting template)
- 1x Thermal pad (dimensions vary, see cutting template)
Step 1: Preparation and Disassembly
Place the hardware on an antistatic mat. Begin by dismantling the original cooler. Carefully remove screws and unhook fan connectors. If the original cooler uses thermal glue, exercise extreme caution to avoid damaging components. Keep all removed parts. Clean the hardware of thermal paste or pad residues using a solvent like alcohol.
Step 2: Thermal Paste Application
Using a plastic strip or thermal paste spreader, apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the GPU. The layer should be less than one millimeter thick to prevent contamination of surrounding components.
Step 3: Thermal Pad Placement (GPU)
Cut the red thermal pads according to the provided cutting template. Remove the protective films from both sides. Place the pads on the voltage transformers as shown in the diagram.
Step 4: Cooler Mounting
Remove any protective film from the cooler's base. Clean the contact surfaces on the cooler's bottom side with alcohol or a similar solvent. Mount the assembled cooler onto the graphics card. Insert the screws with washers as shown in the image, but do not tighten them fully yet.
Important Note: Ensure good contact and even distribution of thermal paste. Avoid poor contact or uneven footprints.
Step 5: Thermal Pad Placement (VRMs and Memory)
Cut the yellow thermal pads according to the pattern template. Place them on the back of the voltage transformers and the GPU, as illustrated. Remember to remove the protective films from both sides.
Step 6: Backplate Installation
Place the backplate onto the graphics card as shown in the picture. Apply slight pressure to ensure optimal contact between the backplate, cooler, and graphics card.
Step 7: Final Tightening
Screw the cooler together. Finger-tighten the screws with one turn each, tightening them in a cross pattern. Two screws require additional washers; refer to the graphic for their correct placement. Retighten the screws installed in Step 5 that connect the graphics card to the cooler.
Important: After approximately 12 hours of use, retighten all screws.
Step 8: Completion
The graphics card is now ready for use.
Cutting Templates
Refer to the provided cutting templates for precise sizing of thermal pads.
Warranty and Safety Information
Safety Advice:
- Not suitable for children under 6 years (contains small parts).
- Ensure cooling liquid flows through the system before operating cooling components. Overheating can cause burns.
- Coolers not filled with liquid can damage computer hardware. Always ensure the pump is functioning when the hardware is powered on.
- Do not use tools to tighten connectors. Plastic or metal threaded connections linked with plastic parts can be easily overloaded, leading to cracks or damage. Damages from leaking coolant are not covered by warranty.
- Use connectors with a sealing ring. Hand-tightening is sufficient. Tools are only to be used when explicitly stated in the manual.
- Check your hardware and cooling system for leaks, pump function, and fans. Alphacool is not liable for the manufacturer's warranty of electronic components. Assembly is at your own risk.
- Do not overtighten screws, as this can loosen mounting bolts and compromise uniform cooler pressure.
- Connectors with 8mm thread length may reduce flow.
- Perform a leak test before installation. Water pressure in the loop should not exceed 0.8 bar.
- Ensure the cooler makes contact with all cooled components using thermal paste and pads.
Intended Use: Alphacool cooling components are approved for cooling computer parts. Warranty is void for misuse.
Warranty:
- Information in brochures, catalogs, etc., is for informational purposes only.
- Warranty claims are subject to legal provisions for repair, contract withdrawal, or price reduction. The warranty period is two years for consumers and one year for entrepreneurs from receipt of goods.
- Warranty claims require the original invoice, sales slip, or an ALPHACOOL confirmation.
- ALPHACOOL INTERNATIONAL GMBH reserves the right to repair or replace defective products or components.
- Repairs by unauthorized personnel will void warranty unless previously agreed upon with ALPHACOOL.
- ALPHACOOL does not cover costs associated with product refitting.
- Warranty excludes regular checks, maintenance, repair or replacement of wear parts, incorrect operation or installation defects, damages from external factors (storm, water, fire, etc.), and damages from transport or improper packaging.
- Consumer rights in the respective country are not affected.
- Alphacool International GmbH is not responsible for manufacturer warranties of electronic components. Assembly is at your own risk.
