Safety Instructions
- [warning-symbol] Not suitable for children under 6 years (contains small parts which could be swallowed).
- [warning-symbol] Do not operate cooling components without coolant flowing through the system. Coolers operated without coolant can become very hot, posing a burn hazard.
- Coolers without coolant flow can destroy computer hardware. Always ensure the pump is functioning when the hardware is switched on.
- When tightening connectors or fittings, do not use tools like screwdrivers, pliers, or wrenches. Plastic parts or metal threaded connections linked with plastic parts can be easily overloaded, leading to cracks or damage. Such damage, as well as damage from leaking coolant, is not covered under warranty.
- Use only connectors with a sealing o-ring. Hand-tightening is sufficient with a sealing ring. Tools are only to be used in exceptional cases as indicated in the manual.
- Check your hardware and cooling system (tightness, pump function, fans) before assembly. This minimizes troubleshooting time. Alphacool International GmbH is not liable for warranty issues related to the manufacturer of electronic components. Assembly is at your own risk.
- Do not overtighten screws. Overtightening can loosen knurled nuts and compromise the cooler's uniform pressure.
- Connectors with 8mm long threads may restrict flow.
- A tightness test is recommended before assembly. The water pressure in the cooling loop should not exceed 0.8 bar. Do not use tools on connectors.
- Ensure the cooler makes contact with all components to be cooled via thermal grease and thermal pads.
- Use only distilled water or Alphacool Cape Kelvin Catcher in your cooling circuit. Damage from unsuitable coolant is not covered by warranty.
- Alphacool International GmbH cooling components are licensed for cooling computer parts. Misuse voids the warranty.
Installation Steps
Step 1: Dismantle Original Cooler
Place the hardware on an antistatic mat. Begin dismantling the original cooler. Depending on the cooler's structure, remove fan screws and unhook the fan connector first. If the original cooler uses thermal glue, exercise extreme care to avoid damaging components. Collect all parts carefully. Clean the hardware of thermal paste or pad residues using a solvent like alcohol.
Step 2: Pre-Installation Check
Before assembling the cooler, compare your graphics card with the provided picture. The cooler is designed specifically for this layout. Manufacturers may revise card designs, potentially making the cooler incompatible with later models. During assembly, ensure taller components have adequate clearance and that the cooler does not damage your graphics card. Alphacool International GmbH is not liable for assembly errors due to negligence, such as selecting an incompatible cooler.
Step 3: Apply Thermal Pads
The red 30 mm x 30 mm x 1.5 mm pads are for voltage converters and must be trimmed to size. Remove the protective film from both sides and place them as shown. The yellow 15 mm x 15 mm x 3 mm pad is for the back of the GPU. Remember to remove the protective film from both sides of this pad as well.
Diagram Description: The diagram shows the placement of thermal pads on the GPU. Red pads (30x30x1.5mm) are indicated for voltage converters. A yellow pad (15x15x3mm) is shown for the back of the GPU. Cutting patterns are provided for precise pad sizing.
Step 4: Apply Thermal Paste
Using a plastic strip or similar tool, spread a thin, even layer of thermal paste onto the GPU. The layer should be less than a millimeter thick to prevent contamination of surrounding components.
Step 5: Mount the Cooler
Place the assembled cooler onto the graphics card as shown. If a protective film is present on the cooler's base, remove it. Clean the contact surfaces on the bottom of the cooler with alcohol or a similar solvent. The surface must be free of contaminants.
Step 6: Initial Screw Tightening
Mount the screws with washers as shown in the picture. Initially, keep the screws slightly loose. Tighten them crosswise with one turn each.
Step 7: Attach Backplate and Final Tightening
Place the backplate onto the graphics card as depicted. Screw the cooler together. Hand-tighten the screws crosswise with one turn each. Ensure the screw from Step 6, which connects the cooler and graphics card, is also tightened. After approximately 12 hours of using the graphics card, re-tighten all screws.
Diagram Description: Diagrams show cutting patterns for thermal pads with dimensions and color coding (red, yellow) for different components and locations on the GPU and its backplate.
Warranty Information
Alphacool International GmbH provides a warranty for its cooling components. Key points include:
- Warranty claims require the original invoice, sales slip, or an Alphacool confirmation.
- Alphacool reserves the right to repair or replace defective products or components.
- Unauthorized repairs void the warranty.
- Warranty excludes regular wear and tear, improper handling, incorrect installation, damage from external factors (storm, water, fire, overvoltage, acts of God, war, incorrect connection, poor ventilation), transportation damage, or improper packaging.
- Alphacool does not assume warranty for the manufacturer of electronic components. Assembly is at the user's own risk.
- Consumer rights in their respective countries are not affected.
Disposal Information
