Rear View Backup Camera Installation
Read all installation instructions carefully before installing. Improper installation may void the warranty.
WARNING: Failure to follow instructions may result in serious injury or property damage. Exercise utmost care.
- The Digital Backup Camera is an aid for detecting hazardous conditions and obstructions. Always drive safely and properly; the camera is not a substitute for safe driving practices.
- Never rely solely on the monitor screen when backing up. Always check behind and around the vehicle. Back up slowly and with caution.
- The image on the monitor may differ from actual conditions due to wide-angle lenses. Use the camera as an aid and judge distances carefully.
- Always use your own eyes to confirm surroundings, as low lux lighting performance may not provide full visibility. Proceed with caution and double-check.
- The camera's view is limited and may not display objects close to or below the bumper, or out of its view.
- Ensure the camera is functioning, properly positioned, and securely mounted each time you operate the vehicle.
- Check trunk/hatch operation before and after installation.
- Clean the camera area carefully, avoiding excessive water exposure.
- Keep the camera clean and unobstructed.
- Follow all traffic laws and motor vehicle regulations.
- Consult local laws regarding installation or use restrictions.
- A backup camera system does not eliminate blind spots; always drive with caution.
System Installation and Wiring (Camera)
Note: Camera system installation on diesel vehicles may differ. Connecting to other electrical systems can cause damage; consult the manufacturer if unsure.
Quick Installation:
The rearview backup camera system includes camera and wiring. Mount the camera preferably above the license plate in the rear of the vehicle. Additional accessory cables may be needed.
Camera Connection:
- Connect the camera's DC 12V power cable to the vehicle's positive 12V reverse tail light.
- Connect the black wire of the power cable to ground properly.
- Connect the yellow RCA video connector cable from the camera to the display monitor's yellow video connector. The video signal is retrieved automatically when the vehicle is in reverse.
Installation Transcript:
- Locate the reverse taillight wiring (may require removing an interior panel). Connect the included 12V DC power cable to the reverse light:
- Connect the Red wire to the vehicle's reverse light positive wire.
- Connect the Black wire to the vehicle's reverse light negative wire.
- Connect the camera to this reverse light connection and mount it in the desired location.
- Run the RCA video cable from the camera to the display monitor.
*Run cables unobtrusively. Secure all connections and cables to prevent issues from vehicle vibrations. Ensure proper isolation for all connections.
Additional Notes:
- Determine the best camera location (preferably above the license plate).
- Leave slight slack in connection cables for future camera adjustment.
- Test the camera after installation by putting the vehicle in reverse.
Angle Adjustable Camera Lens
The camera housing has two screws that lock the lens angle. Loosen these screws to adjust the angle, then tighten them securely. Do not overtighten.
