Note: The 'L' column indicates available lengths for each model. Dimensions D, H, B, and J are specific to the model number suffix.
Diagram Description: A schematic illustrates the convector unit, showing key dimensions labeled as D (Depth), L (Length), H (Height), B (Width), and J (Projection). It indicates the relationship between overall unit dimensions and liner dimensions, noting that end pockets add to the physical length.
Performance Data and Correction Factors
The document includes detailed steam ratings in BTU/H for Type RF-A and RFG-A convectors, presented in tables based on depth, length, and specific inlet types. These ratings are provided for a standard condition of 215°F water temperature and 65°F entering air temperature.
Several tables offer correction factors to adjust performance based on varying operating conditions:
- Table 3: Convector Correction Factors based on Average Water Temperature and Entering Air Temperature.
- Table 4: Correction Factors for Steam Pressures other than 1 PSI Gauge.
- Table 5: Correction Factors for Access Doors, considering different installation types (Free Standing, Semi-Recessed, Fully Recessed) and door locations.
- Table 6: Pressure Loss in Feet of Water for different water flow rates (GPM) across 4", 6", and 8" models.
- Table 7 & 8: Output-Flow Rate Corrections, showing Gallons Per Minute (GPM) of hot water required and MBH based on water temperature drop and minimum flow rates for turbulent flow.
For precise performance calculations, users should consult these correction factor tables in conjunction with the base BTU/H ratings.
Coil Construction Details
The convector coils are constructed with 3/4" NPT bronze headers. The tubes are made of copper, and the fins are aluminum. The fins are mechanically expanded onto the copper tubes at a density of 6 fins per inch. The coil fins are 2-1/2" high.
Diagram Description: A diagram of the convector coil shows different tube element configurations: 2-tube (4" depth), 3-tube (6" depth), and 4-tube (8" depth), along with their respective widths. It also illustrates the 3/4" NPT typical header connection, riser centers, and liner length relationships. A vent plug and a 3-position hanger welded to the liner are also depicted.
