Insteon Starter Kit Overview
The Insteon Starter Kit includes the Insteon Hub, which acts as the central controller for your smart home devices. The kit also comes with necessary cables for setup.
Insteon Hub Components:
- Status LED: Indicates the operational state of the Hub.
- Green flashing: Idle / Linking
- Red flashing: Unlinking
- Factory Reset Button: Used to reset the Hub to its default settings.
- Power Button: Turns the Hub on or off.
- Ethernet Port: For connecting the Hub to your internet router.
Included accessories: Ethernet Cable, Power Cable.
Setup Your Kit
Step 1: Connect the Hub
Connect the Insteon Hub to a power outlet and your internet router using the provided cables. Ensure you use a direct wall outlet and avoid power strips or switched outlets.
Connection Diagram:
- The Hub is shown connected via Ethernet to a router and via power cable to a wall outlet. ✔️ (Indicates correct connection)
- A power strip with a plug is shown with a red cross ❌ (Indicates incorrect connection).
Note: Avoid power strips and switched outlets.
Step 2: Download the Insteon App
Download and install the latest Insteon for Hub App from your device's app store. Search for "insteon for hub".
App Installation Screen: A smartphone displays the Insteon for Hub app icon and an "INSTALL" button.
Scan the QR Code and tap your store to download the app.
Step 3: Create an Account
Connect your mobile device to the same network as the Insteon Hub. Launch the Insteon for Hub App and create a new account. You will see options to "Sign In" or "Create an Account".

Step 4: Add Devices
Follow the on-screen instructions within the app to add your INSTEON devices to your network.

INSTEON Devices
Dimmer Module
Controls lighting dimming. Supports up to 300W maximum load.
Dimmer Module Components:
- Status LED: Indicates device status.
- Green: On
- Red: Off
- Controls:
- Brighten
- Dim
- Set Button: Used for configuration.
Connects via a standard power plug.

Open/Close Sensor
Detects if a door or window is open or closed.
Open/Close Sensor Components:
- Set Button: Used for configuration.
- Status LED: Indicates device status.
- Magnet: Works in conjunction with the main sensor unit.
- Power Source: AA Battery (Included).

Motion Sensor
Detects motion in a room.
Motion Sensor Components:
- Status LED: Indicates device status.
- Wall Mount Retention Slot: For mounting the sensor.

- Set Button: Used for configuration.

Leak Sensor
