Introduction
This guide provides instructions for setting up your INSTEON Assurance Kit and its associated devices.
The INSTEON Assurance Kit includes a Hub, Dimmer Modules, Open/Close Sensors, Motion Sensors, and Leak Sensors, enabling a connected home experience.
INSTEON Hub
The INSTEON Hub is the central controller for your smart home devices.
Hub Components:
- Status LED: Indicates the operational state of the Hub.
- Idle: Green flashing ?
- Linking: Blue flashing ?
- Unlinking: Red flashing ?
- Ethernet Port: For connecting the Hub to your internet router.
- Power Port: For connecting the Hub to a power source.
- Factory Reset Button: Used for resetting the Hub to its default settings.

Setup Your Kit
Step 1: Connect the Hub
Connect the INSTEON Hub to power and your internet router using only the provided Ethernet and Power cables. Ensure the Hub is connected directly to a wall outlet, avoiding power strips and switched outlets.

INSTEON for Hub App
Step 2: Download and Install the App
Download and install the latest INSTEON for Hub App from your device's app store. You can search for "INSTEON for Hub".

You can also scan a QR code (not included here) to find the app in your store.
Step 3: Connect and Create Account
Connect your smartphone to the same network as the INSTEON Hub. Launch the INSTEON for Hub App and create a new account or sign in if you already have one.

Add Devices
Step 4: Add Your Devices
Follow the on-screen instructions within the INSTEON for Hub App to add your INSTEON devices, such as Dimmer Modules.

INSTEON Device Overviews
Dimmer Module
The INSTEON Dimmer Module allows you to control the brightness of lights.
- Status LED:
- On: Green ?
- Off: Red ?
- Controls: On/Brighten, Off/Dim
- Set Button: Used for linking and configuration.
It supports up to a 300W maximum load.

Open/Close Sensor
The INSTEON Open/Close Sensor detects when doors, windows, or cabinets are opened or closed.
- Status LED: Green ?
- Set Button: For linking and configuration.
- Magnet: Used in conjunction with the sensor to detect open/close states.
- Power: Powered by an included AA Battery.

Motion Sensor
The INSTEON Motion Sensor detects movement within its range.
- Status LED: Red ?
- Set Button: For linking and configuration.
- Wall Mount Retention Slot: For mounting the sensor.
- Settings Jumpers: For configuring sensor behavior.
- Power: Powered by an included 9V Battery.

Leak Sensor
The INSTEON Leak Sensor detects the presence of water.
- Status LED: Green ?
- Set Button: For linking and configuration.
- Water Contacts (Metal): Detect water when bridged.
- Power: Powered by an included AA Battery.

Remote Access
Enable remote access to monitor and control your INSTEON devices from outside your home. To configure remote access, navigate to Settings > House > Remote Access Guide within the INSTEON for Hub App to set up port forwarding.

Create a Schedule
You can create schedules for individual devices or entire scenes to automate your home. Access this feature by going to Settings and tapping "Schedules" in the INSTEON for Hub App.
