1 Your Phone
1.1 Buttons and Connectors
The phone features several buttons and connectors:
- 1 SOS Button: ? Dedicated emergency button.
- 2 Headphone Jack: ? For connecting headphones.
- 3 Volume Button: ? Adjusts audio volume.
- 4 Type-C Connector: ? For charging and data transfer.
- 5 Speaker: ? For audio output.
- 6 Camera: ? For taking photos and videos.
- 7 Flashlight: ? Provides illumination.
Navigation and Function Buttons:
- OK Button (Center): Confirm selection (press center), Access application list (from home screen).
- Left Soft Key: Confirm selection, Access application list (from home screen).
- Call Start Button: Answer/dial call, Access call history (from home screen).
- Right Soft Key (Back Button): Access contacts (from home screen), Go back.
- Call End Button: Hang up/cancel call, Return to home screen, Hold to power off or restart the phone.
- Navigation Button: Move through menus up, down, left, and right. From standby screen: Up for Calendar ⏰, Down for Camera ?, Right for Entertainment ▶️, Left for Tools ⚙️.
- "5" Button: On standby screen: Press to enter '5', Hold to turn flashlight ? on/off.
- "*" Button: On standby screen: Press to enter '*', Hold to lock screen ?. In edit mode: Press to insert symbols.
- "#" Button: On standby screen: Press to enter '#', Hold to toggle vibration mode ?. In edit mode: Press to change input method.
1.2 Getting Started
1.2.1 Setup
Removing Back Cover and Inserting Battery: Follow visual guides (implied) for battery installation.
Inserting and Removing SIM/microSD Card: Turn off the phone before inserting or removing cards. Insert the SIM card with the chip facing down and slide it into the slot. Ensure it is correctly seated. To remove, press and slide out.
Charging the Battery: Connect the charger to the phone and plug it into an outlet. Ensure the battery is correctly inserted before charging. Use an easily accessible power outlet. To conserve energy, unplug the charger when fully charged, disable Bluetooth, close background apps, and reduce screen timeout.
1.2.2 Turning On the Phone
Press and hold the Call End Button ❌. The display will light up. Press the Left Soft Key and then the Right Soft Key to unlock the phone.
1.2.3 Turning Off the Phone
Press and hold the Call End Button ❌, then select and press 'Power off'.
1.3 Home Screen
The home screen displays a status bar at the top with icons indicating phone status and new notifications.
Status Bar Icons: New message ✉️, No SIM ?, Silent mode ?, Alarm set ⏰, Signal strength ?, Headphones connected ?, Bluetooth enabled ?, Power indicator ?.
1.4 Application List
Access the application list by pressing the Left Soft Key or the OK Button from the home screen. Two display modes are available: Super Icon Mode (larger icons) and 3x3 Mode (grid with text descriptions). Select via Settings > Layout.
1.4.1 Status Bar
The status bar at the top of the home screen displays status icons and alerts.
1.4.2 Changing the Home Screen Wallpaper
From the home screen, press OK Button, select Settings ⚙️, navigate to Display > Wallpaper Settings. Choose a new image from Static Wallpaper or More Images and press OK Button.
2 Call Records
2.1 Making a Call
Dial a number and press the Call Start Button ?, or select a contact from Contacts and press the Call Start Button ?. Use the navigation buttons to select a contact and press the Call Start Button ?. Press the Right Soft Key ↩️ to delete incorrect digits. Press the Call End Button ❌ to end the call.
International Call: Press the call button twice to enter '+', then dial the country code and the full phone number, and press the Call Start Button ?.
Emergency Call: Dial the emergency number and press the Call Start Button ?. This may work without a SIM card or PIN, depending on the network and country.
2.2 Answering or Rejecting Calls
When receiving an incoming call:
- Press the Left Soft Key or the Call Start Button ? to answer.
- Press the Right Soft Key ↩️ or the Call End Button ❌ to reject.
2.3 Accessing Voicemail
Press and hold the call button to dial the voicemail number. Follow the prompts to configure your voicemail account.
3 Messages
Send and receive text (SMS/MMS) messages.
3.1 Creating a Message
From the home screen, press OK Button, select Messages > Options > New chat. Enter the recipient's number in the 'To' field or select from Contacts. Use the navigation button to type the message. Press OK Button or Left Soft Key and select Options > Send.
3.2 Sending Multimedia Messages
MMS allows sending videos, images, photos, contacts, and audio. In Messages, select Options > Add and choose an attachment. An SMS will automatically convert to MMS upon adding multimedia files.
3.3 Entering Messages
In edit mode, use the keyboard icon to switch input methods (digits, symbols). Press and hold a key for specific characters. Use predictive text or press '#' to change input methods. For normal text input, press numeric keys 2-9. Press the key corresponding to the letter and press it again for the next letter on the same key. Press the key to select input mode (Abc/abc/ABC/123) or writing language. Press the '.' button to insert punctuation or special characters. Press the Right Soft Key ↩️ to delete characters.
Message Settings: Access via Messages > Options > Settings. Options include SIM message center, validity period, status report, read receipt, encoding management (GSM7, UCS2, Auto), save sent messages, preferred storage, export SMS, and auto-signature.
4 Contacts
4.1 Accessing Contacts
Access Contacts via OK Button > Contacts, or by pressing the Right Soft Key ↩️ from the home screen.
4.2 Adding a Contact
From the contact list, select Options > New to add a new contact with details. Press the Left Soft Key to save.
4.3 Editing Contacts
Select a contact, press OK Button to view details, then select Options > Edit and press OK Button to start editing.
4.4 Deleting a Contact
From the contact list, select Options > Delete, then press OK Button to remove the entry.
4.5 Available Options
From the contact list:
- Call: Initiate a call to the selected contact.
- Create Message: Send an SMS to the selected contact.
- New: Create a new contact (phone memory or SIM).
- Delete: Delete a selected contact.
- Delete Multiple: Delete one or multiple contacts simultaneously.
- Import/Export: Copy contacts to phone/SIM, import contacts to phone, export contacts from phone/SIM.
- Send Business Card: Send contact details via SMS/MMS or Bluetooth.
- Speed Dial: Set up multiple speed dial contacts.
- Memory Status: Check phone and SIM card memory status.
- My Number: Set your name and mobile number.
5 SOS
Access SOS via OK Button > SOS. Set up SOS contacts and edit the default message. Ensure SOS mode is active via the Activation option. In case of emergency, press and hold the SOS Button ? to activate the alarm, send help messages, and make calls to pre-set contacts.
6 Gallery
The Gallery functions as a media player for viewing photos and playing videos. Additional editing functions are also available. Access via OK Button > Gallery.
7 Camera
The phone is equipped with a camera.
7.1 Camera
Use the screen as a viewfinder. Frame your subject and press OK Button to take a photo. Press the Left Soft Key to save.
7.2 Video
Recording Videos: Press Left Soft Key, select More options > Video mode. Press OK Button to record. Press Left Soft Key when finished; the video is automatically saved. View videos in the Gallery.
8 Tools
- 8.1 Alarm: Built-in alarm clock with snooze function. Up to three alarms can be set.
- 8.2 Clock: Displays local time and allows checking time in other time zones.
- 8.3 Flashlight: ? Press OK Button to turn the flashlight on or off.
- 8.4 Calculator: Perform basic arithmetic operations using navigation buttons and the center OK Button.
- 8.5 Calendar: ? Track important appointments. Create new events by selecting a date, pressing OK Button, entering details, and saving. Supports up to 20 calendar entries.
- 8.6 My Files: Manage files on the phone's internal memory or microSD card.
- 8.7 Magnifier: Magnifies screen content.
- 8.8 Converter: Convert units of mass and length.
9 Entertainment
Access applications like Facebook and Opera Mini. Access via OK Button > Entertainment.
10 Settings
Access settings via OK Button > Settings.
10.1 Phone Settings
- Time & Date: Adjust date and time formats (12/24 hour, date format), and set automatic time updates.
- Language Settings: Customize display and input languages. Availability depends on device model and software version.
- Shortcut Settings: Personalize shortcuts for quick access to functions.
- Auto Power On/Off: Schedule automatic power on/off times.
- Power Management: View battery status.
- Browser Selection: Choose your preferred internet browser.
- Factory Data Reset: Resets the device to factory settings, erasing all data. Back up important files before proceeding. Default password is 1234.
10.2 Profiles
Configure profiles for different situations: Normal, Silent ?, Meeting, Indoor, Outdoor.
10.3 Bluetooth
? Exchange data (videos, photos, audio) with other Bluetooth-enabled devices.
10.4 Display
Adjust animation effects, wallpaper, auto-lock, and other display preferences.
10.5 Layout
Choose between Super Icon Mode and 3x3 Mode for the application list.
10.6 Security
Secure your phone by activating and changing PIN and password. Default password is 1234 or 0000. Options include PIN, Modify PIN2, Phone Lock, Change Phone Password, Privacy (App Lock), Lock Screen with End Button, and Fixed Dialing Numbers (requires PIN2).
10.7 Call Settings
- Dual SIM Support: Use two phone numbers on one device.
- Call Forwarding: Enable, disable, or check the status of call forwarding to voicemail or a selected number.
- Call Waiting: Enable/disable audible alerts for a second incoming call.
- Call Barring: Restrict certain types of calls (incoming/outgoing).
- Hide ID: Selectively hide or mask your identity during calls for privacy.
- Other: Call time reminder, auto redial, call vibration, send SMS on reject.
10.8 Network Settings
- Network Selection: Switch between Automatic and Manual network modes.
- Network Type: Select 2G/3G/4G (Auto), 2G/3G (Auto), 3G Only, or 2G Only.
- VoLTE: Select VoLTE option (operator dependent).
- Network Data: View network data information.
10.9 Connectivity
Set Data Account, Data Roaming, Data Connection, Preferred SIM, etc.
10.10 STK
SIM Toolkit (STK) for managing SIM card services and applications.
10.11 Voice Report
Enable/disable voice reports.
10.12 SOS Dialing Settings
Refer to Section 5 SOS.
10.13 Update Search
Search for system updates.
10.14 Call Filter
Control calls, block unwanted numbers, and create custom blacklists.
10.15 Policy & Safety
View phone information: product model, manufacturer name, IMEI, CU Number.
10.16 Information
Access Privacy and User Terms sections.
10.17 Version Information
Display software version.
11 Troubleshooting
Before contacting support, ensure the battery is fully charged and avoid storing excessive data. Check if the issue is listed below:
- Cannot turn on or phone is locked: Check battery contacts, reinsert battery, and power on. Charge battery for at least 20 minutes.
- Phone unresponsive for several minutes: Restart by holding the Call End Button ❌. Remove and reinsert battery, then power on.
- Phone turns off by itself: Ensure the phone is not accidentally powered off by pressing the Call End Button ❌ while trying to lock it. Check battery status.
- Cannot charge properly: Use only TCL-provided battery and charger. Ensure battery is correctly inserted. Battery may take up to 20 minutes to show charging indicator if fully depleted. Charge in normal conditions (0°C - +40°C). Check voltage abroad.
- Cannot connect to network or "No Service" message: Try from a different location. Check for signal coverage. Verify SIM card validity with the operator. Try manual network search. Try again later if the network is busy.
- Cannot connect to Internet: Ensure the SIM card has internet service activated. Check internet connection settings. Ensure phone has signal. Try later or from a different location.
- SIM card error: Ensure SIM card is correctly inserted. Check for damage on the SIM card chip. Verify SIM card service is active.
- Cannot make outgoing calls: Ensure the correct number is dialed. Check country/area codes for international calls. Ensure phone is connected to the network and the network is not busy/unavailable. Check subscription status with operator. Ensure outgoing calls are not blocked. Ensure the phone is not in Airplane Mode.
- Cannot receive incoming calls: Ensure phone is on and connected to the network. Check subscription status with operator. Ensure incoming calls are not forwarded. Ensure call data is not blocked. Ensure the phone is not in Airplane Mode.
- Caller name/number not displayed: Check with operator if the service is subscribed. Ensure the caller's number and name are not restricted.
- Cannot display contacts: Ensure SIM card is not damaged. Ensure SIM card is correctly inserted. Import contacts from SIM to phone memory.
- Call sound quality not optimal: Adjust volume using volume buttons. Check signal strength ?. Ensure receiver, jack, or speaker are clean.
- Cannot use described functions: Check with operator if services are included in your subscription. Ensure no TCL accessories are required.
- Number from phonebook not dialed: Verify the saved number is correct. For international calls, ensure the correct country code is used.
- Cannot add contact to phonebook: Check if SIM phonebook is full; delete entries or save to phone memory.
- Callers cannot leave voicemail: Contact your mobile network operator to check service availability.
- Cannot connect to voicemail: Ensure the operator's voicemail number is correct. Try again later if the network is busy.
- SIM card locked (PIN): Contact your operator for the PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code.
- Phone not detected via Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is on and the phone is visible to other users. Ensure both phones are within Bluetooth detection range.
- How to transfer data between phone and computer: Connect the phone to a computer using a data cable. Select "SD Card" on the phone to transfer data between the memory card/SD card and the computer.
